Eh,,,Despite Liverpool's claims to the contrary, Evra has never actually made accusations against another player or club before
What part of "Evra has never actually made accusations against another player or club before" are you struggling with here?

None of it, its true. I'm making a comment, what part of my comment "But he has been at the player at the centre of cases where racist chants were shouted at him in the past and it turned out that there was no racism involved at all." are you struggling with here?

exactly, its classless and clueless and seems to have been used to galvinise the liverpool fans into a sense of injustice.

im just appalled to see liverpool fans in here still look to blame all this on evra, though not surprised.

the statement from the club is simply disgusting.

I think the point that seems to be clear from the LFC statement is that the entire ban is predicated on the evidence of Evra. And as I have posted..
.In defending Suárez, Liverpool are expected to mention the incident between Evra and Chelsea’s groundstaff in 2008 which culminated in an FA hearing which concluded that “we find Mr Evra’s account exaggerated and unreliable”.

First game back is utd I heard :pac::pac::pac:

Probably taking the piss but genuine question on it...

Doesn't it depend on the apeal etc when it starts to take effect??

If it takes effect from tonight he will be back well before the Utd match.

wow, that is disgraceful. absolutely disgraceful and the club i hope gets a real hard punishment cos of it. shocking stuff for them to come out with, the man was found guilty and they still attack Evra.

Look i'm not going to start arguing this is a terrible injustice and try and defend Suarez but Liverpool football club are entitled to stand behind there player if they firmly believe he is innocent.

I think if it was obvious and proved without doubt that he did racially abuse Evra then that would be a different story and they would be totally wrong in defending him, maybe they might come up with more evidence, but until then Liverpool believe there player is innocent and are entitled to defend him and appeal this decision.

I cannot imgaine they'd put that in their statement if they had received a recording of what Suarez said to Evra, or if the referee had supported Evra's allegation, or if there were other players or officials to support what Evra alleged.
Considering they mentioned Evras "previous" I wouldn't be surprised.
Apparently they have taken the statement down now anyway.

This is a very dangerous precedent that has been set

Nothing will happen, i said it from day one the FA will make an example of Suarez with evidence or without, it matters not a jot to them. Remember the respect campaign after the Mascherano incident a few years ago.

Suarez admitted using a word in anger which referred to Evra's skin colour. No ifs or buts, that's racist.

With the Kick It Out camaign, and the complaints by the English national team when playing in front of racist fans abroad, they had to take action.

I mentioned it already but everytime I read the statement I come back to this. If this is true it could well end up in court imo
We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players

If the police are involved, they can't release the evidence I imagine. Plus there may be legal issues in relation to releasing the evidence.

Suarez could be ruined by this verdict. But if he said it, then he deserves the punishment. The reference by Liverpool to Evra making previous claims is very bad form on their part, given it can very easily be proved incorrect.

This thread has probably been the biggest clusterfúck I have seen on Boards. I hope it fades away soon.

Was it not the same FA that found Evra's evidence questionable previously?

They have seemed to have stopped that after setting an example with a previous Liverpool player ;)

We really should start making ridiculous accusations about everyone we play against, it seems to be the way to go

Delighted with that statement by the club, given the lack of evidence and the amount of heresay that has surrounded this, im sure it wouldnt have been put out if there wasnt a base pf truth to it

But it's entirely irrelevant to mention them in relation to this case if Evra wasn't the one to make the accusation in those past cases.

Various people within the club have accepted that he said what he is accused of saying.

Their defence was that cultural differences and language barriers made it seem worse than it was.

Now, seeing this statement, they're ignoring all that and trying to force their fans (and whoever else reads it) into a false sense that they are being victimised simply by the word of a United player... which will of course "rally the troops" and get their fans onside.

    It's nonsense, really.

Do you have a link to people within the club admitting that?

I'm not aware of it so it would be a great source of information if you could provide it.

I think you should leave it there, pal.

    Or?

Maybe you could just man up and admit what Suarez did was wrong and accept his punishment, maybe you feel racism should be allowed in the game but I dont and I have no problem calling you on it, call me an internet hard man if you wish, i would prefer to be called that then to be a racist or be in support of a racist.

Ill leave it there as you say, wouldnt wanna upset ya or anything

If the claims made in the Liverpool FC statement are true then the ban is ridiculous.

Something crazy has happened either way.

Either the FA has banned a player for 8 games for racism without any proof and most circumstantial evidence pointing otherwise.

    Or

Liverpool FC have made a very rash statement without knowing all the facts of the case (or have chosen to ignore the facts).

Either way it's incredible that one of these big organisations with top lawyers could get things so badly wrong.

I'll wait to hear more evidence before making a judgement, but the FA really need to back up this ban with some hard evidence and not just hearsay, because if what is said in the Liverpool statement is true then they have seriously messed up

Suarez's grandad was actually black
Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black.

Suarez not a racist according to Evra and the FA
It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

    8 game ban?

Not enough for me but their ya go. The FA made an example of him and rightly so, such abuse should never be tolerated. If John Henry had any character or decency he would sack that degenerate.

No I'm looking for a link confirming Terry's guilt. He hasn't been found guilty yet so its premature to be demanding the same sentence.

I'm off to visit RAWK for the night

    No need, they're coming here.

One night only, the most vile stuff on the SF.
I really hope I have the pleasure of watching Evra suffer a horrific career ending injury because it would be incredibly satisfying, I would actually go out on the beer to celebrate.

He is a rotten liar and an excuse for both a footballer and a human being.

    This

This is all that needs to be said on the subject, Liverpool would do themselves a favour if they just accepted it

If that statement is true it implies that Suarez didnt infact admit to using a form of the word Negro. Which doesnt agree with the generall word coming fronm anfield up to this

I can only think that the FA felt that Suarez's admission was worthy of a 8 game ban
