Actually in the hearing for this case it's apparently come to light that he accused the ref of only booking him because he was black. Sounds like an accusation to me.

Were you a fly on the wall or something?

    You "apparently" know so much.
    Don't you know?????

A racist term is a racist term, regardless of how harsh it is. How difficult is that for your blinkered mind to comprehend?

And a non racist term is a non racist term.
No need for the petty insults now Walrus. I am not being blinkered, I am looking forward to the evidence.

Yeah, I know that. But surely the player and the club deserve to have the evidence presented to them before, or at least at the same time, as the judgement is handed down ?
All the evidence is given to the defence before the case.

Well I should not be surprised, he really lets his clubs supporters down.

    embarrassing.

This is a dark day for English football and football in general.

That was what was reported by Henry Winter who is a fairly reliable journo who's seemingly been in the know throughout this trial.

We'll know when they release the findings sure.

Why not release the evidence with the verdict ?

If the police are involved, they can't release the evidence I imagine. Plus there may be legal issues in relation to releasing the evidence.

Suarez could be ruined by this verdict. But if he said it, then he deserves the punishment. The reference by Liverpool to Evra making previous claims is very bad form on their part, given it can very easily be proved incorrect.

This thread has probably been the biggest clusterfúck I have seen on Boards. I hope it fades away soon.

Despite Liverpool's claims to the contrary, Evra has never actually made accusations against another player or club before.

But he has been at the player at the centre of cases where racist chants were shouted at him in the past and it turned out that there was no racism involved at all.

This man has a child and a wife, a family there is no evidence he said anything.
What does this have to do with anything?

Liverpools statement reminds me of a kid i once heard on Xbox live denying he was racist because he had a Lil Wayne album.

Its a bit of a Jade defence alright!

Hmmm....trying to maintain some semblence of perspective is a positive thing.

I have yet to read the report, either have you or the club, so it is wrong to assume right now that there was nothing else in there bar Evra's word.

On field its war, Off field Suarez and Evra could have sorted this, No not a hand shake on way off field !! I MEAN they should have been brought together by PFA , and sorted it man to man, And made it a positive out come,, both banned 2 games, Both guilty of insulting each other,
But for one to get off free, and one to get 8 game ban on hear say, is CRAZY !
That's what i mean,, Evra is no angel , But he gets not even one game ban for his part in this

Reading the statement again, I'm really not sure that the FA know what's coming. IF that statement is legally correct (which I presume it is otherwise we wouldn't have put it out), we've basically told the FA to show us the unmitigated proof that they have,to be able to give this verdict. They have to have cast iron, 100% damning proof to be able to do this.

On the other hand surely the FA are'nt stupid enough to charge Suarez without any evidence as they know the club are going to appeal.

In defending Suárez, Liverpool are expected to mention the incident between Evra and Chelsea’s groundstaff in 2008 which culminated in an FA hearing which concluded that “we find Mr Evra’s account exaggerated and unreliable”.

    Astounding if true tbh

Various people within the club have accepted that he said what he is accused of saying.

Their defence was that cultural differences and language barriers made it seem worse than it was.

Now, seeing this statement, they're ignoring all that and trying to force their fans (and whoever else reads it) into a false sense that they are being victimised simply by the word of a United player... which will of course "rally the troops" and get their fans onside.

    It's nonsense, really.

I assume the club would have more detailed information than us, probably have the actual verdict and far more information than a 1 page FA statement!.

    .

exactly, its classless and clueless and seems to have been used to galvinise the liverpool fans into a sense of injustice.

im just appalled to see liverpool fans in here still look to blame all this on evra, though not surprised.

the statement from the club is simply disgusting.

In which case this piece of the LFC statement suggests that the only evidence presented to them was Evra's word :
We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

I cannot imgaine they'd put that in their statement if they had received a recording of what Suarez said to Evra, or if the referee had supported Evra's allegation, or if there were other players or officials to support what Evra alleged.

Liverpool's reaction seems to be based on the fact that they believe the rules of natural justice were not applied, in which case they could be taking the case to the Courts rather than any FA appeals committee.

I hope if they enforce this ban they ban ALL players take part in abuse and references to people sexuality, being parts of the female anatomy and general such language

If one mention of the n word gets someeone an 8 game ban, how much does repeatably abusing linesmen, referees and other players get you? Especially if an accusation causes all this

This is a very dangerous precedent that has been set
