    Regional stuff

I never said this wasn't a huge story? All I'm saying is, if RTE had to change their scheduling this evening the same would be expected every time Cork or any other county floods.

Only among the self-centred. If the river down the road floods here I wouldn't expect much on RTE, when it's a place with a huge amount of the population, national transport links and centre of business for the state there should be a fcuking lot more coverage than somewhere else and more than there should be.

It was all over RTE hoodwinked. I distinctly remember the footage on the news, I (and loads of my family and friends) sent money to the fund that was set up for Cork people that were affected things looked that bad.

yeah they eventually realised what was up, hours later.....

give it another hour and you'll see RTE take this awful situation seriously!

    I do love floods.

Standing outside my house and some fecker in a mad rush doesn't spot the flood on time

Woosh! And a massive wave of water that helps slow him down. Then he slowly reverses and goes back the way he came, damn glad the car is still going

i think the point he is making is it is only effecting Dublin so far, Cork had flooding that bad 2 years ago and RTE barely put it up on their website never-mind making the news or interrupting schedule to help people out, if it wasn't for local radio and boards.ie, we'd have never had known what was happening.

in fact the majority of homes that flooded then, trapped elderly people and no state of emergency was called. Some of them are still living in those houses today with only dehumidifiers to help them clean up, the walls along the river were only fixed this year. no help was given its a disgrace.

our national 'state' does not care about flood victims, or the effects flooding has.

to be fair the emergency services usually are AMAZING at awful times like these.

i hope no one is hurt in this! :(

I would be amazed if there are not a lot of casualties in this, it kind of happened slowly then very suddenly, I never seen anything like it in Dublin. It was a sudden monsoon.

My friend's car is locked in Dundrum car park, anyone have any idea if they'll open it tonight? They're parked on level 2 so hopefully not too much damage done.

we all felt the same when it happened here too i was sure people would be injured or worse, one minute the streets were clear the next knee deep in water, and very quick after we saw boats collecting people out of second floor windows in low lying areas

i really hope everyone is ok, nothing worse then seeing the water hit the top stair in your house/apartment! :(

Ah come on! The news has to filter, there was lots of coverage about the Cork flooding and rightly so, it was some flood. There will be lots of coverage about this flood to and rightly so too. I hope you dig deep to help if there is a fund. ;)

I have no Idea how bad it is up there to be honest. Didn't see the news at all today. If it's as bad as that then maybe someone should complain to RTE about it? Don't see the point in arguing it out on here.

My thoughts are with those affected by the floods..was a victim of flooding myself a few years back and lost everything.

*edit* just saw the vids...didn't know it was as bad as that...sorry :(
