Television lad, television - that thing that everybody has, including elderly people. That thing we all have to pay for or go to jail.

Ah come on now... it's hardly a state of emergency in fairness.

I think it may very well be, a lot of people are trapped including old and vulnerable people.

But isn't that always the case? Parts of the country get badly flooded every year...can't expect RTE to change their layout because of it.

Oh i see, the largest shopping centre in the country gets stuffed under 4 foot of water every year

Take the regional stuff elsewhere. This is a BIG news story. And has effected the whole of leinster.

Its not even raining here. No signs of floods or even large puddles anywhere. There was a few last night but today the rain has been pretty light over all.

F**k sake I want something to do!

Another photo from the sweepstakes. The cars out the front are completely underwater now. Out the back - all you can see is this:

On the left you can see all the bins which have floated out of the underground car park and are emptying themselves around the complex...

I moved out of there in May. Not regretting that decision at the minute! Hope you're ok.

I suppose the beleaguered unemployed builders around the country are clapping their hands in glee. The prospects of a bit of work before xmas.

It seems to be. I was up around the triangle about an hour ago. The traffic seems to be moving okay through Ranelagh itself. A bit of flooding around the triangle but nothing too drastic although the cafe at the triangle were sweeping water out of their door.

i think the point he is making is it is only effecting Dublin so far, Cork had flooding that bad 2 years ago and RTE barely put it up on their website never-mind making the news or interrupting schedule to help people out, if it wasn't for local radio and boards.ie, we'd have never had known what was happening.

in fact the majority of homes that flooded then, trapped elderly people and no state of emergency was called. Some of them are still living in those houses today with only dehumidifiers to help them clean up, the walls along the river were only fixed this year. no help was given its a disgrace.

our national 'state' does not care about flood victims, or the effects flooding has.

to be fair the emergency services usually are AMAZING at awful times like these.

i hope no one is hurt in this! :(

    Regional stuff

I never said this wasn't a huge story? All I'm saying is, if RTE had to change their scheduling this evening the same would be expected every time Cork or any other county floods.

Did they really need the "wet floor" signs?
Health and Safety rules, if someone had slipped they could be sued.

Silly rule in this case though. :pac:

The good thing is that it looks like the rain has cleared.

Anything following up seems to be light drizzle.

What the feck are RTE up to? Presidential debate and Republic of Telly - no danger they might try to give people some information about this?
RTE is a feckin joke. It only warranted 5 minutes on the 9 o clock news. Shocking.

I thought there was sufficient coverage of the Cork flood in the national media after the dam was released. The floods in Leinster today seem to be as bad as those in Cork, and no dam was released...

It was all over RTE hoodwinked. I distinctly remember the footage on the news, I (and loads of my family and friends) sent money to the fund that was set up for Cork people that were affected things looked that bad.
