Actually I got a job last week that I'm 98% sure I'm going to accept so there'll be 299 of ye competing! I'm just surprised I even got through, they really ripped me to shreds in the one-on-one interview. Best of luck to all of ye anyway, hope it goes well.

Congratulations on getting through to the final interviews guys! Did you get an email from them? Haven't heard anything yet, hopefully on Monday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 116 ✭✭ddubs

That old fella in the one on one interviews was a pr**k. Really knocked my confidence in interviews in general. but I got through too so I guess he was maybe prepping me?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 dannyirish06

Yea got the email last night along with others. I thought the wee old man was nice enough, had some good feedback for me at the end of the interview.

I got the email last night too. Sligtly disappointed with the fact that there are still 300 candidates. Thought there would be a bit more of a screening at the Assessment Centre cause it's turning into a pretty drawn out process now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 funsize86

Got the e-mail too. I did the assessment centre at the end of August so it seemed like ages waiting to hear back. I'm surprised there is still so many of us left. I guess we have a 1 in 3 chance roughly.

I'm interested to know the type of companies hiring and where they are looking to expand to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

I also got the email. Should be interesting to see which companies come through as possible "matches". Anyone know where there may be a possible list of companies they select from? Are the matches made based on our CVs or based on our short presentation/interview?

    Hi all,

I was wondering whether any of you know the job description of this programme, i.e.
    • Course in Dublin for 6 months - what does that cover?
    • Travel required from sucessful candidates?
    • Salary expected for candidates (in €)?
    • On completion of the programme, what do people go on to do afterwards (...typically)?
If any of you have insights on this or more, please drop a line. My girlfriend is asking me and I dont know what to tell her. The information was not so clear on the programme description details.

    Thanks!

Hey buddy! I'm also through to the last 300. I'll fill you in with what I know so far.

    - From having a quick read of the booklet, I gather the course is very hands on. It says there is a good bit of project and group work. I'd imagine it is basically building up your commercial awareness, making you aware of current trends internationally and whatnot. Page 5 of the booklet I have linked below outlines the course in more detail

    http://www.enterprise-ireland.com/en/Management/develop-export-selling-capability/G4IG-Brochure-for-Graduates.pdf

    - Regarding travel, do you mean when you are in Ireland attending the course or when you are working abroad? I would imagine it can vary depending on the employer and their requirements.

    - I too am wondering about the salary. From what I gather (I am not sure if this is 100% accurate!) on the G4IG website, Enterprise Ireland will fund recruitment costs, training and matching up to 14,500euro. It is probably then up to the company to top this value up. Alot will depend on where you are based. I did find another table the other day which outlined this in more detail but I can't find it now. do'h!

    - I reckon you're best getting in touch with some of the earlier posters in this thread from the first year of recruitment. I would say this is a very open ended question as the overseas experience of the programme will differ for most people and alot will depend on the financial and future prospects of the company you are placed with.

Hope I havn't confused you more. Like I said, I'm in the same boat as you so my understanding is fairly limited at this stage.

Hope it goes well for you!! :)

    Hey,

Thanks for that. I am hoping to hear from EI about potential matches. Sounds like an interesting programme though and a good opportunity.

Its a shame how we cannot have access to the list of companies to give us a 'general' idea of their operations and locations. Candidate could examine the list to see whather they are even interested in working with the lised companies? It would also allow us to eliminate companies based on their innovations (e.g. IT, medical device,....etc).

Anyway - I guess we will find out soon enough?

    Thanks again scrapsmac,

If ya hear any word - keep me updated and I will do likewise.

    Cheers.

no sweat dude!! Yeah it'd be brilliant if we knew what companies we were matched with, or even given an idea of the sector but I guess it just adds to the surprise.

I did notice that although we were matched with employers, it is at the discretion of the employer to call us for interviews. So fingers crossed we do get interviews!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

.....and it mentioned something in the email about accepting an offer since it may be your only offer? Should we just be expecting one offer or should we be expecting 2-5 offers from them in the first email? This is a little annoying because the second company could be a dream company and the first one may be ehhhh ya know....?

It would be cool if they said - right, based on all the assessments and your CV, we match you to 5 companies: A, B, C, D & E. Rank these from 1-3 based on preference and they could eliminate offers or suggest them to others? ;)

On average - each company would have 1 successful candiate of 3+ interviews?

Is there any runner up prize if not successful :(

That would be pretty bad form after what we've been through already for no employer to get back to us!

I'm sure we'll know a fair bit more after this session on Thurdsay. I'll be heading along to it anyway, so if you aren't going, I'll let you know about anything you may have missed out on... I think they are recording it anyway and it'll be up on the net a few days after.

Ya based on this forum anyway last year candidates got several calls for interviews

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

Wow - if we did't get at least one interview, I would be really disappointed!!

Based on last years candidates - would you have any idea on salary ranges? I hate the thought of going through all of this and then they say 'how would you feel about €15,000-€20,000... I know its good experience etc, but..... salary helps? Any thoughts on this?

Do candidates typically stay working with the "selected" companies or are they "let go" after one year?

    Cheers.

Hey guys, I also got the email for the last 300, which was funny because i thought the interview was a disaster! I was wondering if anybody has heard froma company yet? it is probably a bit soon. also do most of you guys have a second language? I dont but id imagine their are opportunities in England or North America. I am not sure i fancy my chance though! I live in Vancouver so I will only be hoping to do any interviews over the phone! : (

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

Didn't hear anything yet - still waiting on "the email". Maybe people attending Thursdays event may be able to ask for more information?

I don't have a second language (have intermediate German but not practiced for a while) so I am hoping it will be an English speaking place.

Are most of you undergraduates or postgraduates or.......??

Were you in Ireland for any stage of the assessments or did you do them all from distance?

What area do you specialise in?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 andrew15

I went home for the assessment day. the jouney nearly killed me! but I wouldnt be coming back just for an interview. I would hope that at least I could have an informal chat with the company and if they felt I had a great chance of being right for them then I might come home to Interview, I dont feel like that is to unreasonable (at least I hope its not). I have a Masters in Food Business and Development but I dont know if that means I will get paired with a food company or not. how about you guys? undergrads or post? most of the people at my assessment day had masters too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 tilda5

The last 300! Has anybody heard anything for there paired company yet? I really hope I get at least one phone call, is a very long process not to hear anything in the end? did anybody ask for feed back from the assessment center? was it good or just generic??
From what i read on EI's website, there is no food companies involved with this program as Board Bia look after that! Also i read somewhere else (can't remember where!) that the wage is different for everybody and it is between the employee and the employer to agree on!
I'm a bit unsure, wondering if anybody can tell me, is the course for the first 6 months, full time or part-time? I know (if successful!) we start work with a company in November, but dose anybody know if we are to fit that around classes or would the course be a more distance learning thing?
    Cheers!

hey guys. was looking on the G4IG website under the company application section and they have until the 4th October to fill out the application form so it cud be drawn out till then for some of us. It also states on that section the max salary figures companies will have to pay the duration of the programme so maybe where you are sent will depend on what your salary will be....if that's the case wudn't mind zone 1!!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2 Serpico11

    Good spot Stick100!

It's actually a better salary than I thought it would be.

Though note that this is for 18months and not 12 and a lot of companies probably won't choose to go that high :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 51 ✭✭stevethewraith

But when you take into account that you get a Diploma from Smurfit and all that experience, I know i wouldn't mind taking a hit in the salary department.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 xtina89

I got through to the last 300 too. Just curious to know does anyone know how many people applied for the programme and what the cuts were at each stage, 300 seems a lot to still be in the running.

Also would love to know when people start to be contacted by companies...it really is a drawn out process! good luck to everyone! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 tilda5

The assessment centre ran for weeks so I would say maybe 600 were call to it, just a guess hard to know exactly. 300 is not too bad, if you think there are 120 places at the moment, that's just under a 1 in 3 chance of getting a job! In a normal interview final round would usually be down to 2/3 people.
I suppose EI are being fair by giving the companies a choice of candidates rather than just placing somebody they think would be suitable. A lot of the companies would be small, so i'm guessing in a lot of cases it would be down to the company seeing the candidate fitting into the organisation as well as their skill set. Also if a company wanted somebody to go somewhere very far away, and the original candidate turned the position down, it gives them more options..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 dunnear

Around 1600 applied anyway! I am kinda worried because I have started an internship and reckon I'll lose it due to all the days I'll have to take off. I wonder if many of the companies are based down the country because you would have to relocate then for the 1st 6 months! Anybody get a call yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

Anyone at the EI workshop on tips for interviews? Any inside information?

I got a call from EI asking if I had any questions about interviewing? No real insight and said most of it was covered in the email they sent to say you were through to the final 300....

    Any offers yet anyone???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 kunbs

I got the email saying I had got through as part of the last 300. I have been checking emails and mobile phone every other minute checking to see if any company contacts.... but Im in the same boat as everyone else waiting to hear back from the client companies... not sure whether to call/check with EnterpriseIreland... Goodluck Everyone... The wait/anticipation is killing me though!!! :)

    I want this so Bad..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 kunbs

I only joined boards cos of this!! hahahaha!! :| Anyhow ....I wasnt able to attend the workshop on thursday due to bereavement- any tips/information that we need to know pls. :) I know its going up on the fb page today but it would be nice to get extras from those there live and direct. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I did contact EI to see what the story was or when "should we expect" some notification.... I was disppointed to learn that there is no guarantee that we will even get an offer/interview. It is at the discretion of the companies now. I thought we would get 1-3 interviews (at least) but this is not the case (supposedly).

At the moment, you have passed the assessment tests and matched with a company or a few companies. EI pass on your details and their feedback on you. The companies review this information and decide whether you would "fit" their company (maybe based on skills, attitude, personality etc). If they think you would be "suitable", they will contact you to arrange an interview.

So I guess....this is where we are all at at the moment. Maybe we will hear from them this week/next week?

Doesn't it start in November??? Cutting it tight!!

(apologies for spelling errors - Im rushing out the door....)

Ya I heard back today, all 3's and 4's so dont know what that means? Middle of the road i suppose

Any sign of the podcast being put up from last thursday. Any1 there have some feedback?

    Best of luck all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 kunbs

Yeah I also got my feedback today .. :) Very Good to know.

@who knows - did EI say we should expect any delay in hearing back from the companies i.e in the next week or this week? *sigh*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

@kunbs.... No EI didn't give any indication about how long we would have to wait - just have to wait for the companies to contact us? It feels like a very 'blind' process since there is a lack of insight on what to expect and when.

Regarding the feedback, is it descriptive or scaled/ranked based on your performance. I didn't get any feedback on this yet. Should hear this week I guess :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2 sallym123

    @who knows, ya its ranked from 1 - 5. Over 5 categories, team work....etc.

I presume the feedback we get is the same the companies get. Dont know if the feedback was in regard to the group excercise only or included the 1 on 1 interview too?

hopefully there will be contact from companies soon, get things in motion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 kunbs

@ who knows Oh ok... yeah it is very blind. Thanks.

The feedback is on a scale of 1-5 - 5 being Great and 1 not too great. and if you get 4's you look under the 4 and see what they felt you demonstrated at the assessment center.

Got interview with one of the companies, anyone else got anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

I got some feedback on the assessment which groupped it as:

    Initiative and Achievement
Acts on own initiative, makes things happen and accepts responsibility for the results. Enables outcomes.

    Organisational Skills
Organises self to reach objectives. Executes plans with commitment and determination; achieves high quality results. Adheres to the plans and expected outcomes.

    Communication and Influence
Communicates in a manner that will persuade, convince and influence others, in order to motivate, inspire or encourage them to follow a particular course of action.

    Commercial Orientation
Demonstrates theoretical / conceptual understanding of commercial issues relating to growing companies. Able to apply this in a practical scenario and draws on own related experience and knowledge.

    Working with People
Co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience and information; supports others in the pursuit of team goals. Builds a useful network of allies, contacts and relationships and utilizes it to achieve objectives.

I would reckon that this is largely the analysis from the online assessment (but I can't be 100% sure). Maybe they ranked both online and face-to-face and gave us an average? I got mostly 4's... but we'll see what that means 'in reality'?

@miller8721 - congrats! Keep us posted on your progress. Can you tell me teh nature of the company, e.g. food science, IT, medical, etc..... Best of luck with it!

    Thanks!

Great - are they based in Ireland or where are they based? Where will you be based when you are successful? :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 286 ✭✭scrapsmac

Well done mate! best of luck in the interview.

If you don't mind me asking, did you say you preferred an I.T firm at the end of the interview when asked?

I only ask because I mentioned a few different preferred sectors throughout the whole process but I would love to get something in I.T :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 miller8721

@Who Knows - The company is based in Ireland and has office in several locations around the world. I selected Asia when I filled the application so I assume they would send me to Asian market if I got the job.
@scrapsmac - I didn't specify any preferred sector when I filled out the application and I was not asked such question during the interview. I assume EI will look at your background and match you with a suitable company.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭Who Knows?

    Thanks miller8721!!! Best of luck...

I was asked at the end of my interview which sector I owuld want to work in. I listed off a few areas of interest in IT and the interviewer jotted them down. But like miller8721 says - I'm sure it will be based on your CV and you background/studies on the area.

@stevethewraith - well done. best of the luck in the interview!

Well done. Was the company a start-up, SME, or MNC? What were they like - did they expect much from you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 miller8721

@who knows - I say the company is medium size company. I was interviewed by an HR person and all general type questions. It was just like a chat and no tension at all. The interview I got from the second company will meet director of the company directly...
