I'd be interested to hear the reviews of those that ordered one. Keep us informed on your purchase please.

What free SIM can I get my hands on easily so I get the €20 porting off?

Tried to order O2 sim online, but the .Net system barfs up an error when I fill out the order form.

Honestly, have they all sacked their testing departments lately??

you could pick up a tesco sim from any of the stores nationwide for just 2.50

Just go into any o2 store and ask for a free sim pack. I grabbed one from the o2 on grafton st for this offer. Looking forward to receiving!

I got one of these last week. My first smartphone. For the price I think it's great.I'm not big in to phones and all that but I played around with the apps etc. and I'm really impressed.I needed a new phone anyway so this is grand just to use as a normal phone. There is no point in comparing it to phones ten times the price.
With regard the battery,if you turn off the blue tooth and wi-fi etc then the battery lasts much longer.
    I'm happy with it anyway.

I'm with Vodafone home and use online billing,I suppose I wont get any vouchers.
You could ring them up, see if they'd send one out, I'm sure you'd be just as entitled to it.
Interestingly I hadn't realised the voucher was only meant for people moving to vodafone...my Mother has a vodafone number yet she managed to get the discount so either somebody wasn't doing their job or they're letting that slip...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭Daniel S

So how do we buy these online? I use online billing also, so no vouchers for me I guess?

Can someone just tell us how to get it cheap?

Cheers Spongbob, that did the trick.
Cheers OP, ordered one in White. Fantastic price for a backup (or even main!) smartphone.

Tried, but failed. Used Tesco SIM I bought this morning for €2.50

So how much did it end up costing you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭biebiebie

€40 + €2.50 as you then port the Tesco number when you're buying the phone online.

However, sign up to fatcheese.ie, then click on the Vodafone link there, and buy the phone for €40. You'll then get €12.50 back later. Total cost €27.50 + €2.50 for Tesco sim card, so €30 all in.

How did you get them at those prices? I'm with Vodafone at Home (Online billing) and I can't seem to get them?

    I got this unlocked today.

It costs €10, and is pretty easy.

    Download this application

Buy 10 credits (my password got put in my spam folder on gmail BTW)

Plug the battery out of the phone.

Plug it back in (sometimes it turns on automatically, if it does just plug it out and in agian)

Power it up by holding the power button and the volume down button, keep them held down for like 20-30 seconds. The Egg timer should stay on screen

    Plug it into your PC.

    Follow the instructions here

    Good Luck!

How stable is the phone? Any crashes or freezing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭Steviemoyne

I bought one of these and with the fatcheese link I got €22.50 back not the €12.50 people seem to be getting. I had trouble with the fatcheese link posted by witnessmenow and had to navigate through and find it on prepay myself.

Chose the porting option and ordered. Fatcheese cash back showed up a day later due to the problems they are currently experiencing.

But yes. I got €22.50 and not €12.50.

It was a present for someone, I've yet to pick up a sim and order one myself.

Looks like I'm getting €22.50 back also. So thats €7.50 all in for an Android smartphone. Another €10 to unlock. Happy days!

Sorry, an error has occurred, please try later (SH-FB-04).

Ironic that a telecommunications company has such a bad website.

Received mine today, great little phone. Not a huge amount of bloatware on the phone and they've kept the wifi hotspot functionality which was a nice surprise. All in all, a fantastic phone for the price.

This has to be one of the BAs of the year so far!

And the answer was no. No discount at all. And it was raining too.

How the fcuk am I supposed to get this really cheap?

Could you not have just rang them?

Anyways, porting an existing number to vodafone gets you the phone for €40, even if its from a free sim card you've never used before from one of the other providers.

If you do it online, before you go to vodafones website set up an account with fatcheese.ie. Once you have that setup look for the vodafone deal on fatcheese and click the link. Then buy the phone and you will get €12.50 back in a few weeks time.

Total price = €27.50, That is as cheap as you can buy the phone at the moment if im not mistaken

In my fatcheese-account I currently see this under "Vodafone" (see pic). So it still seems to be €22.50 cashback for the rest of this week.

Make sure you select, "I want to change to vodafone", or something along those lines. Not "I want a new number"

Get yourself a free sim from SIM from O2, 3, etc and select Switch number to Vodafone.

Hope someone can help me out on this, I'm not so smart on smartphones.

I have a a regular vodafone phone on bill pay, which I assume I can't use as it is for new PAYG customers.

Could I use my son's number or will that be cut off? Or is it easier to just pick up a free sim from O2?

Will I be able to use the phone with my original Vodafone sim ?

Do I have to sign up to a full data package? I have wifi in the house & at work, will it run off this instead so I can download what I need there & use it off line other than that ?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 930 ✭✭✭robertpatterson

You can use your sons or any other number once its not vodafone
    The number wont change
youll be able to use the phone with your original vodafone sim
If you top up 20 a month theres free internet with vodafone at the moment
    Hope that helps

Yes, they will send an SMS to the number you give them to initiate porting. I'm quite sure that you can't finish the purchase without the code.
