Come one guys, you're slipping, 16 pages of this ****e and no ones wheeled out the "No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish" sign yet :D

    Until now :pac:

Anyway, at least the usual suspects haven't arrived here yet to really stir it up!

    Good old catholic guilt

And if it hadn't been for the first trouble-making pain in the arse blow-in, St Patrick, there wouldn't be any of that. He should have been deported. He did more damage than all of the others put together.

Ireland has a habit of inviting the wrong people in.

Give 'em time. I can hear distant mutterings about 800 years and "perfidious Albion" sneaking up the interweb.

The English brought the Catholic Church with them to Ireland, maybe that's what the 800 years refers to ;)

2 of my kids are very anti english - as a family we wouldn't be anti anyone at all but they have picked this up through history in school and realising that Irish was our first language until the English was forced on us. They would be vocal about not going to English shops - don't support english teams (but have no problems supporting the Welsh or Scots) and god help us if Ireland are playing England in a sport. They are quite sour about the 6 counties being Northern Ireland. I find it very interesting where they picked it up from. They go to different schools so its not necessarily from a teacher. Our eldest is very into Irish and Ireland, chose to go to a gaelcolaiste for secondary school after going to an english primary - but she will support England if they are playing another foreign team or if/when Ireland is knocked out of a tournament.

There are things I hate about the English. The old Tory party, BNP, UKIP presuming they can influence our Lisbon vote, foxhunting, Chelsea, Jade Goody/Jordan/Posh, and their history of empire-building.

On the other hand, they did produce Tottenham Hotspur and Alan Partridge

Foxhunting is illegal in England now but still legal in Ireland. Is that why you're annoyed - because they made it illegal? Why? Are you an Irish foxhunter and annoyed because of all the English toffs who come to Ireland for the foxhunting tourism?

And who (or what) is Chelsea?

England wasn't the only contributing country to the EU, and Ireland wasn't the only beneficiary..

I dont honestly believe that Irish people hate the English, but what I do interpret from these pages is that many Irish kids are brainwashed at a young age into a frame of mind that sets them up for life, 'to act like sheep' and to appear as if they are Anti-English, even though they just love English bands, they love English football, English culture, English Fashion, English TV programmes, etc, etc, etc................

Most, if not all of these so called Anti-English people grow up into Man-U, Chelsea, Sunderland, or Newcastle supporting hypocrites who cheer on their favourite English footie team one night, & then boo the same players one week later

P.S. My late uncle told me that the whole of Ireland was behind England in their defeat of Germany in the 1966 World Cup! > so whats changed in the Irish national psyche since 1966?

Or maybe the emergence of an irish national identity along with an Irish football team, circa 1990?

Irish national identity emerged between 5000 and 2000BC:mad: Still not hating anyone, but not being impressed by unbelievable ignorance, or revolting arrogance. Make up your own mind as to whichever one applies

yeah I don't know I've never really been taken by the idea of two girls kissing. Like it is sexy definetely but..... unless i'm in a threesome I really don't see the point it's a bit like gay men eachother's faeces. Like why would one do that it's extremely unhealthy. Case in point: take that video of two girls eating eachother's faeces I would'nt really see it as a turn on, but more as a gross out. Here is the video:-)

    <snip - no porn links please>

I am talking about the emergence of a National pride that came with the emergence of the Irish football team in the 1990 World Cup + the embracing of the Tricolour (for the first time) by many people in the Republic!

You must remember that before this, there was no National team to speak of & you either supported England or Northern Ireland

Thats why I think most Irish people supported England (pre 1990).

    Just a theory ..............

Why do Canadians hate Americans? Why do the Norwegians and the Swedes hate each other?

Why do Canadians hate Americans? Why do the Norwegians and the Swedes hate each other?

Norway was ruled by Sweden for a hundred years I think, Canadians don't hate anyone - they're far too nice for that.
