This thread is ridiculous. Nearly every post is the same. I just read through the last 10 pages and there has been about 4 different posts. Everyone keeps asking the same questions!

Wonder though if they will honor the order though?
I ordered one, see what happens
Did anyone try ring the company?
    Do they take laser aswell?
    It's illegal!
    I got mine for €55.20
    My law friend say xyz
    etc..

Hahaha, these threads are always the same.
    1. Will we get it?
    2. Can it be?
    3. no way you fools!
    4. False glimmer of hope from a "mate" in the know.
    5. Final nail in the coffin.

Repeat the above over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over .....

Except every now and then some lucky sods do manage to get theirs before the offer gets shut down. It's more fun than playing the lotto, and if you lose you get your money back, what could be better :)

I remember Aerlingus screwed up like this a few years ago and it was on here. They had seats to USA for a few cents and ended up having to honour the price.

I also got a free E71 out of Meteor because of a marketing blunder like this in November of last year.

Theres a lot of people on here who have ordered these machines, I wonder if we can use the fact that there are so many of us expecting this deal as leverage against them... strength in numbers. Theres going to be a lot of bad talk about Littlewoods if they dont come through. Could be a clever marketing ploy, when you think about the number of people who have mentioned Littlewoods to friends and family today. Also I dont think the systems are Vista compatible, maybe this is why they were sold off like this.

As previous posters have said, theres no point in if, buts, and/or maybes.... Best just to wait till Monday to see what happens. Thanks to the OP for the tip off!!

Incorrect - they provided economy class tickets to those that had the tickets (error was on first class tickets) - it was done out of goodwill (after some coaxing) but absolutely not out of any legal requirement whatsoever.

This is simply factually inaccurate, Aer Lingus chose to honour the tickets and they did so not on the basis of the tickets booked. The tickets booked were business class tickets and Aer Lingus chose to offer the people who made these deficient bookings to travel economy class on their chosen flights at the price they paid, which was still a considerable saving for them. At no stage were Aer Lingus legally forced to do this.

As I said, it all comes down to cost at the end of the day - most places will honour misprices where they can afford to do so. You will most likely find in the case of Aer Lingus that the price they allowed people to fly in economy class, whilst a discount on the retail price of the ticket, was still within the profit margin of the actual cost of providing the service. Here we have a situation where per unit offered Littlewoods would likely make a considerable loss, thus multiplied by the number of transactions, and thus they will be most unlikely to honour it. Unlike how you allude to above, there is no obligation on them to do so.

Im glad you have such good memories of the exact details of the incident, my mistake. I wasn't implying a legal obligation to fulfil their original offer.... What i meant was through pressure from customers, they felt a need to offer customers something rather than nothing. Didnt the Aerlingus thing hit the papers the next day? Makes it a little harder for these companies to brush their mistakes under the carpet. Looks like Littlewoods have themselves pretty well covered in their T&C. Very funny Mick_IRL :D

    Lads.. lads.. lads!

Please read up on the facts regarding misprices and Consumer Law before spouting crazy claims.

What you need to remember is that Littlewood's have their arses well and truly covered when you ticked the checkbox to 'Agree to their Terms & Conditions' when placing the order.

They don't have to honour it.. and it's practically a given that they won't - imagine how much they would lose.. and in this "dark period of recession too!

I don't want to be hearing anymore mis-informed statements regarding this situation. Let this be the end of it for the night!

Nice big read here for people interested in how a case similar to this panned-out!

I know you're the mod around here Basquille but there's no need to go ruining our fun with logic and actual laws!! Spoilsport ;):D

Sorry lads but I just came across this thread and it looks like a good laugh.

Just had a quick scan through the first couple of pages and am I right in thinking that this is basically a case of:

Site makes a bollocks of pricing an item and it's currently advertised for a stupidly low price. Everyone goes bananas ordering them, knowing that the whole thing will eventually fall through but that there should be good craic in the meantime?

I ordered one this morning said order was processed but didn't get any confirmation email and the transaction has disappeared from my Littlewoods account this evening - grrr. Having said that I work in pricing so I feel a bit sorry for whoever made the boo boo!:D

Well now, that is something they simply cannot do, mentioned this earlier but according to their own t&c if they make a mistake like this they will contact the customer to inform them of mistake and give em the option of buying at correct price, not just cancelling the order without telling ya! Thats breaching their own terms!

Their T&C clearly covers their arses here.

    2. Ordering Goods
2.1 All orders placed through our website will be subject to our acceptance of the order.

2.2 When you submit an order to us on our website, you will receive a 'bounce back' confirmation email of this order saying that we are processing your order. You will then receive a second email from us acknowledging your order and giving you estimated timescales for delivery. You should check both emails for accuracy and let us know immediately if there are any errors. Neither of these emails constitute acceptance of the order by us. Your order will be accepted by us (and a contract will then be formed between us) when we despatch the goods to you. Title to the goods will pass to you on delivery.

Hands up who read the T&C before jumping on that pc?

Doubt anyones getting one and they will be fully within their legal right to do so.

I did, i read it!! Medal please :D, i still went ahead and bought on the off chance these guys get bullied into nearly making their company go bust by honouring the orders.:P

Right then, how's about tomorrow morning, we, as in whoever placed an order, rings them up asks what the crack and then posts the results!!

The link doesn't seem to work for me, anyone else getting this? It just says, "we are having problems directing you to this section of littlewoodsireland.ie. We are working on the problem" - or something to that effect.

New form of Viral Marketing anyone? :pac:

would be some laugh if everyone was only given credit to spend on the site and not a refund (I know thats not legal but it would cause havoc here)

Only arrived into the office now, but guess what was waiting for me just inside the front door?? Yup, you've guessed it.....SFA!

I received an email from Littlewoods this morning saying

    "Thanks for your recent order.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to receive the necessary authorisation so we cannot send your order.

Please contact our Specialist Team for further information on: 01 811 2222. They will be pleased to help you with your enquiry"

I got straight onto the blower to them, as there is nothing wrong with my cc.
When I got through to sales, they put me through to 'security' and I was promptly told that my order had been cancelled as it was a pricing error. I was told that if I wanted to buy the PC, I could pay the 'full price' of it. They said that they were currently in the process of rectifying the situation.

Needless to say, I was mad. But, that's part of their T&C...
