Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I think there was a thread for this somewhere before but can't seem to find it.

If anyone is up for meeting up for some sessions in the park would be handy to post here.

Looking to get a Fartlek session going or what ever session people like. Fartlek would be hany as you can mix up distance etc to include all levels.

I'm usually in Pheonix park on a Sat and Sunday morning depending on races ets.

Count me in shels. Saturday or sunday morning session would be grand. Let me know what you plan to do.

Was myself, uglyjohn and jlang met up this morning for a lap of the park. Nothing too strenuous though today and was fine weather for it as well.

Hi mods just wondering(with shels permission of course) could we have this thread renamed to sth like group sessions where and when , as I can see this thread as being a very useful tool for Boards ac and other like minded runners. I feel a different name might attract more interest for those outside of the phoenix park area.Cheers

Sure - the difference was the regularity thing. The park thread was about meeting up on a specific date - I am thinking a list that pretty much doesn't change much from week to week - maybe a biki entry would be better but sure we can try this for now.

Anyone else in Limerick or any sessions?

Tuesdays on the UL track. West Limerick AC do an interval session but its open and kicks off at about 7 after the Coach takes the group through a warm up routine. I've been there the last 2 weeks and will proabably continue for the summer. I'm also usually early and looking for someone to do an easy riverbank jog with first. So, say 6.30 on the track by the sandpit, I'll be the friendly face. Approx 2-3 miles on the riverbank before the session starts. This week was a 3,200m TT so that will be coming up again in about 6 weeks and is a good one to practice your 5k or 10k pace.

    All levels welcome :)

Sounds good - which would people prefer for this kind of thing - a wiki or update the post a-la- "best of 2009" thread. (Actually from just a quick look at the biki code it seems a fair bit more confusing to edit than this bbcode thingy so that might be a factor.)

The only thing about putting it in the Biki is it won't get much passing trade. An updated set of tables like the 09 thread would work well, IMO

Yep the passing trade will be more limited, but the biki is useful for the static things and just plain reference type stuff that would otherwise just fall off the bottom of the forum pages here.

Things that are often updated, and are chatted about, should be in forum threads.
Things that hardly ever change and are just used for reference should be in the biki.

I agree, I think. The Biki might be the best option for reference stuff : a list of links to (platinum) threads that should be remembered well past when they fall off the bottom of the first page, a FAQ, a beginner guide to running or maybe a triathlon equipment recommendation list. A thread here seems to work well for regularly changing info - this weekend's races or sessions, the 1000 mile thread, etc.

    (Edit: what he just said)

Anyone fancies doing a session of 10 x 400m in Belfield this evening let me know. I could just as easily go to Santry but the last time I went there on a Friday it was closed for a football match so don't really want to chance it when I know Belfield is open.

It's my first track session of the year so I'll be taking it fairly handy. Not timing the reps or anything. Recovery time will be when I feel recovered to go again.

Just thinking it might be a good idea to put predicted pace of the run in the tables? Some less experienced runners might be put off running in groups thinking they'd be too slow when in reality they'd be well able to keep up.
