Boardeaux on TV - March 7th St Colmcille's 11.30

So lads,

There is going to be a program featuring Boards.ie on RTE (Capital D is the name of it, anyone ever heard of it?) in the coming months, and they want to film the team playing a match

Now, they'd prefer to do it on a Saturday, so they have time afterwards to get a few lads into a pub and have a chat to them about the team. Also, it's better for them light-wise if it's an afternoon game.

I've just had lunch with the Director, and I said I'd firstly try to organise a 11-A-Side featuring the squad vs squad (with a few more bodies) for a Saturday in the next few weeks.

This weekend (14th) is too short notice, and I think he's not free the weekend afterwards (21st), so I think the best dates to aim for are

Sat 28th Feb
Sat 7th March
Sat 14th March

Can we also discuss potential venues?

Otherwise, he said he'd try to get out to a league match, but it's fairly awkward.

He definitely wants lads in the pub afterwards to chat about the team, so the more the merrier there I suppose.

So, please let me know if you are available to play on any, or all of those dates.

No fiffy-faffy "if it was at 2 on the first one, or four on the second one then no" please, I need to let this guy know asap.

just a few things to bare in mind. me, ciaran play on sats and im sure more do like dave etc. mark works sats also.How about a Sunday?

and i think u have the dates wrong des!!

Saturday the 7th and Saturday the 14th. United v liverpool is on the 14th so thats me out.

how about Saturday the 7th or Sunday the 8th??? that dates would suit me anyway.

Also, bare in Mind that we will have league matches now rescheduled and that

are we going to get a crowd out to watch this? i can round up a possy anyway!

venue - we play in wesley on sats on grass and the pitch is generally free.

and theres 3 pubs near wesley also. a sunday evening would be best i think...remember all the hassles we have had organising games on saturdays before.

Sounds class. I can do sat 7th or 14th of march, feb doesn't really suit tho. A bit of TV exposure might bring the Traps attention to the untapped pool of talent that is the Astroleague too.

Chapelizod. Trained with them last night. They normally train Wednesdays so fairly handy. Some good players but seem to be lacking in fitness. They're 2nd from bottom :eek:

OK.

So far we have 14 lads, past and present, definitely interested, plus another two more maybes.

I only texted people who I kno have access to here, so I'll ask the rest of the squad tomorrow.

I'd be looking at having about 30 lads for this, possibly 26/27/28, which gives two teams plus subs.

I'll keep a proper Boardeaux Team to play against the rest of the squad plus extras.

Looks like the 7th March suits most, so we'll go with that then.

Ed, can you look at getting Wesley, otherwise we could go for that DCU Ground where we've played friendlies before.

ill get on to wesley so, should be ok. what time?i would suggest as early as possible as we have about 8 lads that will be playing that day at 2.30 so perhaps 11.00-12.00? what do the rest think? maybe that could help the likes of derek, dave, eddie and mark to play? also, something to take into account is that saturday is a big hockey day and most pitches do be used in the afternoon time. wesley generally has a game about 2.30 and a few other pitches like 3rock and colombus too.

Yeh, if we could play early so those with Saturday games can make them that would be cool. 15 mins a half too yeh?

Yeah having it earlier would more than likely mean I could play too, good call Ed.

Hey Gaffer, might be an idea to use this game as an opportunity to have a look at some new blood that might be interested in joining for next season?

Gav mentioned last night that a lad we used to play with Collie is interested in playing for us next season. He played against us last season and ran the show in the middle of the park for an otherwise weak team - think a few of the lads called him out as a quality player on here so might be a good addition, though fully appreciate you may feel we have the right squad as it is.

Anywho, seems no harm in encouraging players that are interested in joining to play this game in preference to just getting bodies to fill the numbers?

Here, any chance we can keep playing for as long as it takes for me to pull this off on camera...:P

wesley just rang me there -

we can have a pitch that day but he is checking times as he has been away for the past week.

he says latest available is 1.30 to 2.30 but he will try get earlier, he says that he needs to check if there are any school functions that morning first.

he did not give a price.
he will ring me back later.

One thing to note Des is that he asked about Insurance. Generally, any matches that are organised there or any any pitch for that matter needs insurance. during the week, astro i assume has this covered. Is this something that you can ask astro Des to clear up with them?
