How do you get the 10% discount for boards.ie members?? Going to get one of the m1530's but once i add the 4gb of ram it bumps it up by 310€, pure balls....so any discount would be great..cheers in advance

Buy the ram elsewhere and install it yourself. shop4memory ave a 4GB kit for just over a €100. I think they do free delivery.

    Hi

Any one know Why a 17" Inspiron is cheaper than a 17" Vostro with the same specs?

I have taken into account the delivery and VAT but the Inspiron is still €120 cheaper. I have matched the specs exactly, ram, cpu, screen, graphics, HDD, battery, OS, warranty.

    Which should I order?

p.s. any sign of an official Dell sale?

    Thanks

Add the high res screen and long life battery and it only €1003.

No other manufacturer can even come close.

But which is better the Inspiron or Vostro?

p.s. if you add a second Hard Disk after you buy do you need any special adapter or will a SATA disk fit right in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭coldfire1x

^^ Theres not much difference between Inspiron and Vostro. Looks can be a lil different but hardware is the same. The 1st is supposed to be for home users and the 2nd one is for business users.

Go for Inspiron if you are getting it cheaper. Its generally the other way round thats why people try to buy Vostro.

Thanks, looks good, but I think 17 inch might be a bit big and bulky.

Does anyone have any opinions on the XPS M1530?

Squalls link works perfectly , then enter the code he gave and it is indeed a €361.79 laptop , including vat and delivery although this Sponge would recommend XP Home operating system as Vista will fairly wheeze on that laptop.

    Hi

I am in doubt between the Inspiron 1720 and the 1721. Which processor is better, the "AMD® Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL60" or the ""Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)?

Also, are the "Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100" or the "ATI Radeon® Xpress 1270 HyperMemory" any good or should I try to go for a "nVidia® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT"?

    Thanks in advance

Heres some links of most graphics cards and cpu's out at the minute in order of power anyways.

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

It really depends what you want the laptop for, so if battery life isnt a problem and you want to play recent enough games go for the 8600M GT with a decent Core 2 Duo!

Also have a look at the Vostro's, you might be able to get the same specs for less!

Trying to order one of these €360 laptops guys but when it comes to checkout its coming up as € 476.24 inc vat and delivery (€344 without). All I changed was the lcd and opted for truelife as my wife is a photographer and will probably use this also.

    Am I doing something wrong??

    Teflon:confused:
