Wouldn't expected to see beyond 25k so should be plenty of tickets for any area. Check GAA.ie

Your being very optimistic with 25 k id say, definately less than 20k

Tomorrow at 11 am I believe. This Tipp team deserve to be supported, so I would hope for a big Tipp crowd.

I take it we're expecting a huge Tipp turnout on Saturday! No more fannying about, as a county we owe it to support the team as we have been shocking at supporting them in recent years.

Gaelic grounds €40 for stand ticket and €35 for city end terrace is pricey.. Should be 25-30 and 15. €35 for the terrace is mad.

When is the team being named?

Can you imagine how deserted this place would be if we'd lost!

Anyone else think it might be a good idea to take Darragh McCarthy out of the starting lineup for Kilkenny?

I think we're asking a lot of him and he hasn't been as instrumental since the red card. With Forde in such great form and with his experience I think he should be on frees for the semi final whether McCartney starts or not.

Yeah I'd say he's one who certainly isn't nailed down to start against KK

He is starting to look a bit jaded, he's played a lot of hurling this year which will take a toll physically and mentally. I'd be inclined to start him and swap him for O'Donoghue after 45 minutes.

He's perceived as our biggest threat which is creating more space for Mcgrath & Forde.

Same. Id start him as I'm not sure you would get impact if he is brought on whereas you almost certainly will with O Donoghue.

I would say there are 2 if not 3 places up for grabs.

I'd be inclined to get Seamus Kennedy into that half back line, maybe move Morgan to midfield.

I see the Dublin Cork semi final is sold out already. Our game against Kilkenny will probably be barely half full.

Well there is over 2 million between them, would be bizarre if they couldn't sell 80k tickets.

Just back from the training session/meet and greet in Thurles. Was great to see the time and care the players took, particularly with young kids. There were people queuing for 2 hours to get hurleys signed etc.

Hopefully there'll be a great turnout for the semi final. Going by sections with available tickets on ticketmaster, it'll be fairly full!

I always thought this meet and greet was something that was held only before an all Ireland final. Not sure if it's a great idea to be having one now, are the other semi finalists doing this?

Since the championship is about two minutes long I suppose they want to make the most of it and get people interested.

They probably wanted to just do it and get it out of the way. It was a nice gesture, wasn't there myself and by all accounts it was a bit chaotic but their hearts were in the right place.

Now onto the serious business of going up against the cats, we've been there so many times before with different results it's a hard one to call but I'm looking forward to the day out after 6 years and the team have given us great games so far this year so once it's nothing like the 2012 SF I'll be happy.

Or as season is condensed they're doing it at a more opportune time and don't see a problem doing one now it's not like it's a hindrance to prep for the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,496 ✭✭✭History Queen

Well my lads were delighted with it anyway. They loved meeting the extended panel too.

Really looking forward to the Kilkenny match. It'll be my boys first time in Croker and first KK match. I've only seen a couple of KK matches this year so not that tuned in to their form, but I'm expecting the usual tight affair between us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,884 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

Looking forward myself. Delighted it's the second match we'll know who the opposition may be and Delighted it's on Sunday, I can't warm to the Saturday evening matches at all.

I way prefer Saturday games. Maybe because more used to them from other sports or it allows you go to a game have few drinks etc and not worry about work on a Monday after it. Etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,884 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

Im old school si if we win then work on the Monday wouldn't affect having the few scoops!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,147 ✭✭✭julyjane

There was no hangover quite like the one going into work on a Monday morning after a Sunday win, if ever a hangover was enjoyable it was one of those. Granted I was a good few years younger the last time it happened but in the good old days a lot of people strategically planned their annual leave around such occasions. I have my arrangements made for this one now, few drinks beforehand hopefully in the sunshine, maybe one or two afterwards. Finished in time to watch the Sunday game in bed and still have Monday off to "recover"

I don't even know where in Dublin to go for a pint beforehand it's been so long. I believe the big tree has reopened as a hotel under new management but can't imagine it still being the same atmosphere, I guess only one way to find out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,884 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

Definitely the Palace on Fleet street early on. One thing i enjoy a lot, if we did get to the final is the commemoration that's held at noon in Talbot street for Sean Treacy. I often felt the Tipp team should be brought down for that to get them fired up!

I went to Talbot St the morning of the last final but it was so crowded it was like the secret had got out but I will still be there for future finals it's an event I wouldn't miss if I was in the area anyway.

I'm staying in a hotel north of the Liffey so might not have time to get to the palace and back comfortably once we get the car parked we'll probably stay on that side of the river. It'll be lovely to just walk around and see the jerseys out and about and bump into a few people we know and decide on the day
