Whys that? Surely you would want a free forum like here and as many voices/clicks to be on site as possible to be involved

I think it's just a case of 1 person managing subscriptions and he only thinks to check for new subs a few times a year.

Just to answer myself here and in case anyone is wondering , the man in question was actually a Columban missionary. His name is Declan Coyle and the book is called The Green Platform.

Fine win for the 20s over Clare tonight.

    Dominant 2nd performance.

Great atmosphere in Thurles today. Great to see the "never say die" attitude of the lads today. Fantastic game, though you'd always prefer to come away with a win naturally! Brilliant to see the players so generous with their time with young fans after also.

Fair play to Tipp. Great performance after the league final beating. Strong displays all over, mccarthy, ó mara, Morris and the mcgraths especially.

Going to cork in good stead against a depleted cork who will be looking to bounce back. Going to be some championship.

Great heart, they responded to both Limerick goals really well. We probably missed the better chances to win it at the end.

Hi all, looking to swap 4 terrace for 2 stand (cork v tipp) City end tce

Probably the best performance from Tipperary in a couple of years. I was really impressed with the high performance after a lacklustre display in Cork two weeks ago. It was really great to see good support for Tipp in Thurles, something that has been lacking at times recently. It will be challenging to come back up to that level of intensity next Sunday, but I believe we are capable of a win/draw with the right conditions. Thankfully we have avoided injuries so far.

Disappointing day . Sending off didn't help, but our backs as expected were destroyed with the Cork deliveries. While Jake played well , I feel we're missing an out and out number 11 who'll bring others into the game. Bonner ran at defenses and made many others look great and setup goals and frees. As usual, Johnny Murphy never gives the benefit of doubt when it comes to sending off players , it's always about him . You'd wonder how Brian Gavin etc manged to keep control

Tbh I thought the whole team was just shellshocked in the first 15 mins. They certainly tightened up a lot after then. I hate to single out players but Michael Breen cost us 2-01 today by my reckoning in that period, got turned miles too easily by Horgan for his goal (was nothing to do with the delivery), hit a rocket of a pass at Connollys feet that no one would be able to control and got out in front for one ball in then lost it, ball over the top and into space to run on to that led to Corks 3rd goal. Got turned easily for Limericks 2nd goal last week too. In contrast I thought Robert Doyle hurled very well. Is there anyone we could use in the other corner in place of Breen?

Red Card ruined it as a match (deserved or not), any chance to see if Tipp had learned from the league final went out the window with it, real shame. It was always unlikely we would get the win but our points difference took an awful hammering today, it's not totally inconcievable we could get out of Munster yet.

it could be worse lads , we have to go to killarney next weekend , ……

As a corkman I thought Tipp showed a lot today but yes game was over with the sending off and the opening 15 mins. Would expect ye to give Clare a right battle in Ennis. O'Donnell being for them would be a big boost too if it happens.

Watching the other game you would have to think we still have a decent chance. The game in Cork was always a very very long shot and I think before the championship started we wouls be quite happy with a draw and a loss at the point.

Our defence is a big worry however.

Great to see the minor footballers with a win tonight.

As regards the hurlers at the weekend, it was such a shame that one incident at the start had such a bearing on the entire game. I don't know Darragh McCarthy but I hope he had plenty of support and sensible people around him. He's only a young lad and it is only sport.

I'm hoping that the week off has come ata good time for us. Reset regroup and hopefully rattle Clare in Ennis in 2 weeks.

A do or die championship match coming up against Clare and not a dicky bird around here.also a meagre crowd expected from Tipp in ennis! What's gone wrong with tipperary hurling at all!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭challengerbell

Quietness on here more a function of boards dying than tipp. Very few posts on any boards hurling forum this year. Premierview is alive and well as a forum. The latest page on the main All Ireland forum here starts from the 3rd of May, last Saturday!

I saw tickets were up for the Clare terrace up yesterday also, so maybe not just a Tipp thing like Daly would have us believe?

There was a decent Tipp crowd in Cork believe it or not, great Tipp crowd against Limerick and there'll probably be over 20k at Tipp v Waterford, more if Waterford decide to travel. There'll be 7,000 odd from Tipp out of 20k tomorrow.

I think we will win this. I think we have had a much better season than Clare. They had a horrific league, Waterford rolled over them by 8, Cork led by 9 before Barrett threw the win away for Cork. We have only lost games to Cork and Limerick, the 2 All Ireland favourites, and even then we got a win against Cork in the League and a draw against Limerick in the championship. We have infused energy in the experienced lads and injected youth in different lines.

Quilligan has looked iffy, Hogan is a marked man for diving now, Leen hobbled off last week, might be ok, but would have lost a week in recovery minimum, Lohan struggled against Waterford, Ryan is still out, Cleary is still out, Conlon has struggled with form and is looking slower, up against either Noel who is a magician at finding space or Morris who is big strong and fast. McInerney has been ok, Malone ok, Taylor ok, Rodgers has been poor by his standards, Kelly only back after a bad illness, will his battery be at 100%, Fitzgerald dropped, McCarthy off the panel all together, O'Donnell probably thrown in 2 weeks early as they thought theyd be in a better position by now.

This is a game Tipp can win.

The reason is that within 20 days.of the start of the championship.tipperarys season could be over or clare for that matter! Or other strong hurling counties in Leinster..the league which is of really no significance except for counties blooding in players and experimenting, goes on for 4 months..and half the players don't play only come in at the business end..yet the most important competition you could be finished after 3 weeks..gaa top brass is kilkenny the game..no appetite from the public in general for it any more..plus the split season is the final nail in the coffin. .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 892 ✭✭✭Denny61

Meant to say killing the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,604 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Where are you getting that the national league takes 4 months to play out? What do you suggest to change season structure if current system is so bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 892 ✭✭✭Denny61

What I'm saying is ,that it starts in January ,finishes,in April..so it incorporates 4 months…yes.the whole structure will have to be looked at ..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,488 ✭✭✭History Queen

I'm heading to Ennis today reasonably optimistic. I see we have Rhys Shelly between the sticks, probably not a bad move. I feel Barry Hogan has been off the pace.

Hopefully it'll be a good game and we come out the right side of it. Would give a much needed boost to players and supporters alike.

    Great win today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,488 ✭✭✭History Queen

Just in the door from the game. Delighted for the lads, a well deserved lift. Really becoming more and more impressed with Eoghan Connolly each game and delighted for Andrew Ormond that he got to put his stamp on the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,533 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

well done today great game in fairness , andrew ormond , eoghan connolly Michael breen and john mcgrath were outstanding for tipp

we are not in the bes t place with injuries to key players but we showed great fight to level it , bit cant complain with the outcome, i taught it was an excellent game too standard wise

the players above mentioned ormond and connolly were excellent for their clubs in the games i saw them last year and have really pushed on , connollys set piece ability is unbelievable, hes a fantastic defender on top of that , and on todays showing hes a clever lad too when it comes to fouling 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 862 ✭✭✭lim4ev

I thought it was just brilliant entertainment well worth the €12 . Great resilience showed by both teams in different circumstances. Clare still have a chance to qualify what a wonderful competition
