A history textbook refers to Auschwitz — the Nazi concentration camp in Poland where over 1 million Jews were murdered — as a “prisoner of war camp.”

The usual Troll Aviv yahoos were pushing this line among others on X etc, riling people up as they went(mostly woefully uninformed Americans, an easy target). They even showed a pic of the textbook involved, but of course a cropped pic.

    camp.jpg

1: the title page(from a textbook on Democracy and Dictatorships) clearly states the chapter, the first of three, deals with the period from 1933-1939. Auschwitz was a POW camp until 41. Still I think it was stupid to a) use that pic for the period and b) call it a POW camp.

2: Even though it's concerning that period before the mechanised horror of The Holocaust it also clearly states "how Nazi racial policies against Jews led to one of the most tragic and evil actions in history, the Holocaust".

Funny how that was left out on social media posts, and by you.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Total rubbish. I never said South Africa were human rights champions but the fortunes of the ANC did improve drastically after their visit to Iran. It is not that many years ( I remember it well ) when the ANC were known to necklace their opponents (burning tyres around their necks while still alive ), so I would not take lessons from them on human rights. However the fact remains, long before the ANC came to power in S. Africa, S.Africa did take in 100 times more Jewish refugees than we did, the country did fight against the Nazis and their leaders did not express condolences on the death of Hitler ( unlike both our Taoiseach and President ).

Are you aware that the war is not as one sided as you think, with Hamas and other terrorists firing approximately 19,000 missiles in to Israel in the 9 months following the Oct 7th attack? And that a sizeable number ( between 10 and 20 %?) of those missiles mis-function / explode before leaving Gaza etc, resulting in civilian casualties? Remember the hospital explosion which Hamas blamed on Israel : it was later found out that it was a Hamas rocket that exploded there as it was taking off. Are you aware that most of the casualties in Gaza are either Hamas terrorists or else people killed by Hamas (for multiple reasons) or else people killed as a result of Hamas actions ( eg the many thousands of rocket attacks in to Israel, usually from hospitals, schools etc?)

Before we again have to deal with your gibberish; lets see the back up for this statement above.

We are also still waiting for you to acknowledge @Wibbs post and/or show us the back up for the numbers in post #1015 and the various claims about the schools or books you rely on continually.

Are you ever going to admit you just make stuff up for some sort of self aggrandising narcissistic reasons?

If you're going to ignore my previous post where I acknowledged all the above; copy and pasting things won't help you.

It's just evident you need to 'bulk up' your nonsensical posts because you've (yet again) gotten mixed up in your outright lies and pathetic inability to process and/or understand the information you grab from google.

Haven't the Zionist crowd and their supporters claimed we are putting US investment at serious risk by taking this stance? That doesn't sound like the easy option at all.

I asked him to define "a lot" but there was no response. You might see a trend there when it comes to answering straight questions.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Being neutral and fair minded does not automatically make some part of "the Zionist crowd and their supporters" as you label them.

It was reported that Dublin resident Justine Zapin's two sons - one is 8 years old, the other is 10 years old - saw Sinn Féin candidate Chris Andrews giving 'Free Palestine' bracelets to pupils. The 8 year old expressed his unease about this to a teacher but, afterwards, felt that he had gotten into trouble with that teacher for explaining what happened / saying what he felt. Maybe the teacher thought Jewish pupils were part of the "Zionist crowd and their supporters" and everyone should support Hamas, whose aim is to exterminate Israel.

    Being neutral and fair minded

The mere fact you see yourself as "neutral and fair minded" is testament to the ludicrous dishonesty & depravity of your posts.

Very good point indeed. And isn't it noticeable how quickly the furore all died down.

I'd even not be surprised that Israel's announcement was perfectly timed to take the focus off the Haaretz report on Gaza. The one where IDF soldier testimonies confirm the targeting of civilians and abhorrent war crimes. Plus a lot more utter depravity.

There are the Irish Soldiers serving in the Lebanon in support of the UN. Who were attacked by Israel along with peacekeepers from other countries.

    Are they virtue signalling?

Do you have any respect for them or are they not worth mentioning either?

It's pretty disgusting to dishonour the Irish soldiers in my opinion.

The last Irish soldier killed in Lebanon was Pte. Sean Rooney. He wasn’t killed by the IDF was he?

Great takedown of the absolute horse manure routinely posted by this poster. Just on one point, the claim that a classroom discussion came to the conclusion that the Jews deserved it. I will happily and confidently call that out right now as a baseless, shameless, and pretty nasty downright lie.

Neutral and fair minded my backside.

Auschwitz is better known worldwide as an extermination camp, rather than a p.o.w camp as referred to in the Irish school book, as the vast vast majority of its victims were not p.o.w.

" Of the 1.3 million people sent to Auschwitz, 1.1 million were murdered. The number of victims includes 960,000 Jews (865,000 of whom were gassed on arrival), 74,000 non-Jewish Poles, 21,000 Romani, 15,000 Soviet prisoners of war, and up to 15,000 others "

If you go online and look at the stories and testimonies of hundreds of soldiers you will get a clearer picture than just one testimony of one soldier. Because there is military conscription, it is not surprising you will get the odd soldier who paints a different picture to the vast majority of the IDF or Israelis, for various reason or reasons. Of course you would prefer take the word of Hamas, who committed the Oct 7th terrorist attack killing 1200 and kidnapping hundreds and dragging themn through the streets of Gaza, putting babies in ovens etc and whose aim it is to see all Israelis suffer the same fate.

I'm not sure what your point is?

The post I responded to was about "Ireland doing nothing other than bringing Palestinian kids here for medical care". Ireland is doing a lot more than that including Irish soldiers serving to uphold peace.

If you're trying to score points by using the death of an Irish soldier doing his job and serving his country, well, you might just think about that…

But seeing as you mentioned deaths of Irish soldiers in Lebanon, here is one who was killed by Israel:

You should read the Haaretz report - it's a lot more than one soldier. And they certainly did not interview Hamas combatants so I've no idea why you mention them.

As for the rest of your post, I think others have more than adequately pointed out the wild inaccuracies and disinformation before.

Thank you for telling me what to think about.

I’ll file that in the appropriate 🗑️

That's two posts in succession you have wilfully misunderstood the points made and instead engaged in a sort of clumsy nonchalant act. Stick to the 'thanks' button; at least it won't be your words that highlight your stupidity.

I'm seeing a trend in how the "neutral & Fair minded" operate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭chicks4free

Thank you too. I’ll do my best to agree with you in future x

    That's three in succession.

I await the fourth "Neutral & Fair minded" with trepidation.

Yeah, others have just called Auschwitz a p.o.w. camp, like in the Irish school book.

Silly me thought it was better known as an extermination camp. Was is not arguably one of the worst, most horrific place in the history of the world, if not the worst, with the medical experiments carried out there, the starvation, crematoriums, torture etc ?

" Of the 1.3 million people sent to Auschwitz, 1.1 million were murdered. The number of victims includes 960,000 Jews (865,000 of whom were gassed on arrival), 74,000 non-Jewish Poles, 21,000 Romani, 15,000 Soviet prisoners of war, and up to 15,000 others "

Yeah, others have just called Auschwitz a p.o.w. camp,

Who are these "Others" - When are you actually going to provided any evidence and acknowledge the absolute flaw in your argument against that Irish book. (The one someone else had to pull up and explain because you just grabbed a headline and didn't know the intricacies/nuances of it, that one.)

You have, as per your usual performances, made number of "claims" you routinely don't back up, but just blindly stumble through to the next made up blurb.

It's pretty disgusting to dishonour the Irish soldiers in my opinion.

    You and your endless questions...

How did I manage to dishonour Irish soldiers now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭chicks4free

    I agree. Silly you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,641 ✭✭✭Francis McM

Common general knowledge like the fact Auschwitz is know world-wide as an extermination camp where over a million were murdered is a fact, and should not even have to be backed up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,281 ✭✭✭xhomelezz

This is a bit of a joke right, few posters talking suddenly become a Zionist crowd.. Cold shower, walk, and more walk, daily, does wonders.

Still see it as a cheap response on government's side to gather the likes.., without actually being seriously involved in anything.

Looks like Israel did well to close the embassy in Ireland.

Hopefully those Palestinians kids won't end up in unfinished mega project children hospital.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,150 ✭✭✭Suckler

It should be a source of embarrassment for you to have this explained to you for the second time (the first even had a picture) but here we are.

Common general knowledge like the fact Auschwitz is know world-wide as an extermination camp

It is now; previously the book you've pinned your hopeless point on referenced the pre-war period when it was a prisoner camp and the polish army had camps there before it was transformed in to what it was later on during the Holocaust.

should not even have to be backed up.

It shouldn't have to be explained to you but you, but that's the level of your argument.

Now what should have to be backed up are the numbering claims (so far) that have been clearly questioned. It appears now you cannot admit you made them up and/or relied on the made up claims of others. Instead, and true to form. you just prattle on with more dishonesty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,150 ✭✭✭Suckler

If you're going to attempt the "ambivalent & smug" routine, then it only works when you quote the post…..otherwise a random one liner like that looks simply foolish unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,499 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

The 'Zionist crowd' for me are Dana Erlich and other mouthpieces for the regime on social media. I don't agree that Ireland strongly criticising the Netanyahu regime and joining cases against them in the international courts is the easy option. It would be far, far easier to say nothing at all and to keep our heads down.
