Played on the home course Sunday singles today and finished 2nd with 41 pts. I was very happy with 2 of my definite 4 clubs (or 3 if the vegetarian rule is brought in before tee off 😂😂) I was very happy with the 5w and my 52°, now how will my 52 play if I'm in the sand 🤔🤔🤔. The 7i is also going to be included.

I'll be at the range on Wednesday and will focus on that.

Really looking forward to next Saturday, short week in work so even better.

Hope the lads will get well soon also 👍👍

One club to go long, one club to go middle, one club to go short, putter.

It's really simple...so why am i still constantly changing my mind 🤣

One club to rule them all and in the drakness bind them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭RoadRunner

I love how some don't really care what clubs they pick and others way overthink it.

Anyone waking up in the middle of the night yet in a pool of sweat worried about whether you can carry the water on the 9th hole with 8iron or able to take enough off a 4iron to hold the green? 😆

9th has a massive lake in front of the green. But depending on time of the year there may not have been any water in it.

I used to play Corballis a lot its been good few years since I have played it now. I honestly dont remember any water on it.

I think we're playing together on Saturday. I'll show you exactly where it is 😔

And same water comes into play on 8th hole.

also if I’m not mistaken there might be a stream around the 1st/12th?

There's a walkway to the beach that looks a bit like a stream depending on your angle. No water though. The water on the 8th is the same lake that's in front of the 9th. It's in play on the 8th too in fairness.

My phone says a strong wind on Saturday. If it's what's forecast I think people can throw their plans in the bin before setting out, considering your pitching wedge might go further than your 5 iron depending on which way you're facing!

I think I’ll bring my full bag Saturday and will pick the clubs I’m using depending on the wind!!

Also looking like rain. This is why long range forecasts are rubbish.

Looking at some other models and it is very unpredictable. I definitely agree, bring the full bag and see what feels right on the day.

Great info on course Bluenote 👍. Looks like there will be a westerly wind on Saturday as per current predictions. Any idea of the orientation/direction from tee for each hole or is there any of the golf apps with this info.

Some courses have a map on their scorecard, looks like Corballis might too

One thing I'll do at some courses is, get my bearings on the direction on the first hole and draw a little arrow on the course map pointing the direction. Something like below shot

You can refer back to it then. You can't use any app or device to measure wind direction or speed on the course.

Met eireann still looking good, outside of wind.

Maybe rain overnight Fri into Sat, but showing clear all day at the moment

looks like ye are going to get the full corballis experience. First hole the wind will be behind you so a PW should be more than enough. The second hole is going to melt your minds, the tee shot is very tricky in the wind, it'll be a cross wind with anything down the left in danger of O/B and on the beach. Bring your stinger with you!! Along with the 11th green the 2nd fairway is one of the most exposed parts of the golf course. Really challenging shot

3rd hole, play it as a par 5, you will be doing that anyways. A par is a shot up vs the field

6th hole is another which will melt brains, the wind swirls in around the green. Bunt in a pw under the wind as much as you can..

If anyone is unable to make their teetime for Saturday at Corballis, I'd be able to fill in.
