Poxy ingrown hair. First time in a few years I've had one bad enough to keep me off the bike.

I'm happy to wimp out this morning. I was putting gear on as the rain started. Took it back off, and put the kettle on instead (to boil, not to wear 😁)

yep, that was the consolation for me. wasn't due to rain, but it started drizzling about 15 mins ago, looks like more on the way.

Hair or cyst? I've had a pilonidal cyst for years. Can't remember now why I didn't have it removed, I vaguely recall the doctor telling me it wasn't bad enough and the treatment wasn't worth it in my case. It didn't bother me for a good few years but has flared back up in recent times. Though not really that painful compared to what it used to be.

    I assume just a hair.

I woke, heard mother nature knocking at the side of the house and decided while it was fine KOM weather it was not worth getting out of bed for

I was asked to lead our club spin today. The Met Eireann app forecasted strong SW wind but at least it would be dry. It was to be cold initially but would warm up. Plus while I would be taking my old/winter/commuting bike, I wouldn't need mudguards.

10 minutes away from home and the rain came. I, with toe covers rather than shoe covers, started getting cold wet feet. The rain was on and off during the morning.

Feckin Met Eireann app. Too many times I've trusted the forecast only to see the weather be considerably different.

Apparently yr.no was also forecasting a dry day.

Two days in a row for me. Late getting out of bed, so missed the rainless window.

Might go for a run instead. That's usually a miserable experience anyway, so getting wet won't make much difference either way

Is it raining there? The rainfall radar looks quite clear.

Here in Rathangan? We've had a rain shower since I got up. Hazy sunshine at the moment, with overcast conditions rolling in from the west.

Brisk wind (according to the trees outside my window).

Currently 6°c with an expected high of 12°c later today.

I'll keep you updated, though 😂😂😂

Turns out I might just be lazy. I've been watching dark clouds in the sky all day long, thinking "it's going to rain shortly". Hasn't rained. Still no cycle done

fine KOM weather tomorrow - close to 50km/h winds forecast for dublin.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 26,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I'm commuting just as the wind dies down in the sunny south east and only have my CX bike so don't have the gearing to take full advantage.

Blustery day out - tree down on Bangor Road, D12. Still plenty of people out on bikes though 💪

Wasn't too bad, even with two full pannier bags, until the vortex effect nearer the centre.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 26,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I was fine until I got near work, headwind, side gusts, tailwind, all winthin 100m of each other.

It's steal- your- front- wheel gusty out there!

Very much regretting not wimping out this morning…. Hoping it dries up slightly, plenty of flooded roads

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators Posts: 43,031 Mod ✭✭✭✭Seth Brundle

I made the call to cycle to work. The way over wasn't too bad but looking out the window, maybe I'll stay here tonight.

At one point on my way in, I was pushing it on the N4 buslane as a bus was behind me and after going over a manhole the left side arms of my front raceblade mudguard suddenly went flying out to one side. Initially (given the bang from it) I thought the mudguard had snapped so quickly made the decision to keep going - turns out it didn't snap. I'm still not entirely sure what happened as the bump from the manhole wasn't much. Anyhow, I'll check for them on the way home.

If it is any consolation @Weepsie, it was unreal at grange Castle up until a short time ago with heavy rain and thunder & lightning. The sky was dark and you could barely see the buildings in the next unit in the business park.

Now, the rain has eased off a little and I can see the hills around Saggart on the horizon. Maybe the rain there will ease off with no flooding.

Rock and Merrion Roads were very flooded this morning - out to the centre of the road at some points. They were working on clearing the drains on the Merrion Road as I passed at circa 8.15.

I no longer drive into the city, but wet and all as I was, still way happier than the people in lines and lines of cars (and I have little faith in the darts in such conditions not being affected in some way).

Shoes (full of newspaper) might just be dry for hometime!

Wasn’t too bad coming home in the end, bar the monstrous winds on the coast road at Clontarf, and parts of the Alfie Byrne cycle path being flooded completely.

Poor bike needs a proper wash though

due to get nice and calm by tomorrow morning at least.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 26,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I hope so, it wasn't as bad as some would have you believe but I'd still rather not have to deal with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,671 ✭✭✭Macy0161

Still a bit of flooding on the Rock Road this morning in a couple of spots with the whole bus lane flooded. Lots of pillock motorists using the bus lane more an issue for me this morning though!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 26,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I won't lie, only others are sick in work at the minute, I'd have happily stayed at home. I did not want to go out in that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,671 ✭✭✭Macy0161

Scheduled remote day for me! But did go for a very wet run (off season nonsense!).

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators Posts: 43,031 Mod ✭✭✭✭Seth Brundle

Scheduled remote day for me also and I'm happy enough just looking out the window - I've done my time in windy wet weather recently!

I expect that this thread will be busy today. Alas the weather for me was fine on the way to the train so I now just get to look out at what I inevitably must stray into.
