So, did another antigen this morning - big fat clear postive straight away. It only took 2 and half years 😂 Ironically though, I'm feeling much better today. I'm able to work from home anyway so it's grand. The isolating is a bit of a dose though, living with the parents who are both in their 70's, both 2nd boosted in the last 2 months so hopefully they'll be ok.

@leahyl I hope you feel better soon and that your folks don't get it..

seems to be everywhere now; a good few mates of mine now have it too..

Cheers Sporina, yeah feeling very fatigued again now and checked my temperature and it’s gone up again to 37.9. Really hope parents don’t get it.

Yes but to get to that.

10 days and only got first clear today on antigen.

That said I kept working through it. Self employed, the feeling of being so deeply tired is the standout feature of it.

Don’t have it but I will in the next few days

Feel good today. Small bit of a temperature and a bit of a cough but overall good. Seems like a very light dose thankfully.

I'm about two weeks from first negative antigen test and I still regularly get this weird burnt coffee smell. I'm interested to see how long it lasts?

Wake me up when it's all over.

I smelt burning as in smoke for a while after the dose at Christmas.

Had everybody up checking for a fire at 4 am !

Got new Co monitors and smoke alarms put in , but they never went off .

It went away after about 3 weeks .

Glad I put all the new monitors in though 😁

Got what I assume was Delta back in November. Quite nasty but shook it within about 5/6 days. Sense of smell took 2 weeks to come back and my sense of taste was weird for maybe 3 weeks? Was double vaxxed last August, so 3 months earlier.

Tested positive again on Sunday. Not a fun time, but much milder. Started with a sore throat and minor back pain, then a blocked/runny nose. Lost my sense of smell Monday eve and it's already coming back. Now I'm just drowsy and have a slight cough. Almost back to normal. Probably helps I got boosted in February.

any idea where you got it?

i have none.. wasn't anywhere crowded.. and OH didn't get it.. baffling

Pretty much back to normal now. Did an antigen test earlier and still coming up with a heavy line. Wonder how long that will last?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

Felt a bit off colour Saturday morning. Woke up with a mild sore throat, dry cough and fuzzy dull headache, temperature 37.8°C. Two very clear lines on antigen test.

Felt worse Sunday morning. Sore throat, more frequent dry tickly cough. Eyes running a bit.

Felt much better Monday. Luckily I could work from home and felt good enough to do some gardening after work.

Almost back to normal by Tuesday. Just wondering how long it will take for antigen test to come back -ve.

I tested positive on Friday and again on Saturday and Sunday , I was negative on Monday. Sense of smell still not back 100% and the chest infection I also have is taking its time (doctor prescribed me antibiotics over phone). Expecting to feel up to a 30k hike this weekend!

My bf tested positive on Wed, first time sufferer!

He got the 2nd booster on Sunday, so thought that the flu-like symptoms on Mon and Tue were down to that.

    Positive antigen on Wed.

Mon and Tues he felt fluey, with cold sweats and tiredness. By Wed, he had lots of mucus and a constantly running nose, diahorrea, and stomach pain. Today he has a bad chest and throat.

His workmate, who also got boosted at the weekend, tested positive too and is also suffering badly.

C19 helpline lady told me no need to test after 8 days (day 0 = day of onset of symptoms) as not infectious after that.. ie tests can remain positive after 8 days but your not infectious

My sense of taste and smell is gone today. I have pretty much no other symptoms. It's a weird virus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,941 ✭✭✭sporina

its so weird.. i feel I got off v lightly.. I definitely think its does related ie: how much of the bug you are infected with

    @Zippy

    Qs..

The tests ye have used so far - are they the same brand or different?

I assume ye are doing them as per instructions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,322 ✭✭✭✭leahyl

Thought it was interesting that I did a test on Monday and it was a test that I had got for free in work, it was negative, then did an Aldi antigen on Tuesday and it came up straight away. I think its just coincidence though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,054 ✭✭✭Zipppy

couple of different brands..out of curiosity gonna try different type later..

a buddy tells me you can pcr test + for up to 6 months after having it (I had it mid march) so who knows..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,091 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

We've all got buddies like that. Funny how people got back into the country with a negative PCR test after having Covid back during lockdown.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Almost 6 months to the day since my last positive test, got another one this morning. Wasn't too surprised as did a lot of travelling last w/end & felt a bit off yesterday. Symptoms are fairly mild tbh, little bit of cough & feel a bit knackered. Hopefully that will be it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,696 ✭✭✭dasdog

Had a sore throat on Monday and a sleepless night. Tested positive on Tuesday morning and again Thursday night. Starting to feel okay now after a few days rest. Aside from quite a bit of coughing/sneezing, fatigue and brain fog I had no other weird symptoms. My appetite seemed to increase but maybe that was due to staying indoors. First time getting it but I was triple vaccinated.

I had that for about 3 days, I could have spent the entire time eating.

I did a bit of research and the longest report from a believable source said rarely 60 days was the longest time that anyone had tested positive.

What's best for the sore throat? taking panadol plus but it not working. worse sore throat I ever had and my nose runs like tap. Sore throat started on Wednesday and has got progressively worse, headache as well and a night sweat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭FishOnABike

Try some throat lozenges, gargling mouth wash or salt water.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,329 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Taste and smell still gone. Other than that have a bit of brain fog but no other symptoms really.

Escaped it up until Thursday. Felt awful Thurs night, tested neg. Went to bed with sore throat, fever during the night, squirming around the bed restless. Tested positive Friday morning.

Broke up with aches and pains on Friday, sore throat. Friday evening extreme heat and weakness and profuse sweating.

Saturday weakness and aches and a worse sore throat. Fever broke over the night. Hard to catch breath when doing anything lightly exerting.

Today aches and pains gone, worst sore throat I've ever had persists, still tired and puffed.

Wife positive also, and two children, 2yr old and 1yr old. Kids are fine.

I think I'd be fine if I could have rested up for a day or two. But with smallies, impossible.

Tuesday night felt a bit off, did a test on Wednesday morning and was positive, already knew I was a close contact.

Wednesday had body aches and a headache.

Wednesday and Thursday nights sleeps were disturbed with aches, cold chills. Thursday, Friday and Saturday woke up drenched in sweat.

Chesty cough this morning but feeling almost back to normal now.

First time getting it that I know of.

I found that the salt water gargling did help. I also used Diflam anti inflammatory mouth wash/gargle which helped. It helps the pain of the throat. Tested positive newly 2 weeks ago now and throat is still a bit dry. Getting slowly better. Tiredness has eased now. Just the dry throat left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭The Mighty Quinn

Pretty much all good now except for the damn throat. Aches and pains, fever and headache gone at least.

When my wife had covid I brought her lemsip and honey, seemed to do the trick and she had what I considered to be quite severe symptoms.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,580 ✭✭✭JDD

I had covid in early December. Likely to have been Delta at the time, as Omicron wasn't widespread. I was double vaccinated for five months before I caught it. First two days were like a proper bad cold - mild fever (37.5, once at 38), aches and pains, sore throat, lack of smell. Got no cough though. In two days I felt much better, with only tiredness remaining and the lack of smell. A week later all symptoms were gone.

I tested positive again last Thursday. I had only got my booster about six weeks ago due to having to put it off to March because of the December infection, and procrastination. My only symptoms were tiredness, a really runny nose and streaming eyes. I would have passed it off as hayfever and not tested at all, except that I was meant to go see my Dad who is getting cancer treatment. My positive line on the antigen was rather faded on Thursday, and nearly non existent on Friday. The runny nose cleared up by Saturday. I'm not sure whether it is because I should have tested earlier, and was only testing at the end of my infection, or it was just a really mild infection. I feel absolutely grand now. The infection this time was WAY easier than the December infection and even back then, that was mild enough.

Still no taste or smell. Very annoying.

I'm nearly sure I have covid (again). Had it in January, was double jabbed last summer but no boosters since.

Tested negative this morning but it feels like it's on the way. Sore throat, fatigue, pain around ears, muscle pain moving around body and tight chest since yesterday evening.

I'd love if it was a 24 hour thing and I wake up tomorrow fine :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,941 ✭✭✭sporina

people seem to think they have to isolate till they have a negative antigen test - why is this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 601 ✭✭✭WJL

3 months ago. Still low energy and sore throat after sore throat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,928 ✭✭✭patrickc

Have Covid again had it in March. I'm tired, coughy, short of breath (doc put me on antibiotics as I'm quite chesty). I cannot feel full though whatever that is about I'm constantly hungry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 147 ✭✭skinnyfries

I started to feel bad on Sunday, aches, tiredness, pounding headache and a sore throat. Had a very restless night, sore back, very sore throat and had a fever of 38.4 yesterday morning, however my antigen test was negative. I was so tired/weak I couldn’t muster the energy to go downstairs to put on my out of office.

I alternated paracetamol and brupro and slept most of the day, mix of sweats and chills, and couldn’t shake the headache.

This morning I woke with a temperature of 38.5, took an antigen test and immediately got a very clear line. Sore throat has improved, I’m developing a chesty cough, and think I’ll go insane with the headache!

I’m triple vaccinated, and have avoided Covid so far, even while sharing a bed with my Covid positive spouse in early 2021!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,879 ✭✭✭signostic

Began with a sore throat last Wednesday (06/07)which became progressively worse over the following days. Tested positive on Thursday. Sore throat has eased a bit today but it was the worst sore throat I ever had.

Other symptoms, night sweats, headaches, runny nose a congested at night time, no energy, difficulty in sleeping. No cough until Monday, productive with green phlegm. Still positive on the antigen today.

Have the breathless feeling since early April. On and off, currently on 2 inhalers for it (i am not asthmatic).

Glad to see people say they were hungry, I had a period where I had the kind of hunger I only got before when I was breastfeeding!!And I wanted proper food, protein, carbs and not junk.It was weird.I put it down to my body trying to fight off the virus, but who knows.
