PSA to all the folk about collect, especially if it's your 1st EV.

If getting a RWD, don't expect to ever see 491km on the slider for a full 100% charge (same with the LR & P), 491km is the WLTP figure, and the car's display will never ever display that for a full charge.

My advice is set the battery to show as % and not range in KM, and never let it worry you again.

my WLTP is 409km but when I slide the charge button up to 100%, it gives me around 346km, so expect similar from your new cars…. On the new RWD expect to see about maybe ~420km

The range projection in the trip screen is much more realistic.

but either way, just set it to display %

(there's been a lot of folk in the fb group asking why they dont see 491km....)

Hi, picking car up tomorrow, i have finance contract agreement in account, do i fill that in when collecting car as it has to be witnessed by somebody?

WLTP is a legal requirement, Tesla's all display EPA range in the car

Agree, I just leave in % and 4km per % is near enough accurate for my non motorway driving at these temperatures.Perhaps nearer 3 per % with some motorways and/or colder. The consumption graph seems quite accurate giving you an estimated range over your last 10, 25 and 50km driven. I leave on last 50 km, leaving it on average range. Cannot really see the point of 'instant' range.

FWIW I have been able to get WLTP range in past cars with a little care and the right conditions. Last spring I drove my ID.3 58kWh from home west Wexford to Kinsale return without charging. 340km total at 13.2kWh/100km indicated. Range showed 86km upon returning home. About the same as the advertised WLTP. Temp was about 13c for the day, no heating or cooling, I just kept with the traffic, gentle driving.

Will try the same run in my Model 3 RWD some day starting at 100%, for me would be an interesting comparison. Most of the time for me range is not that important, but nice to know if you need to stretch it some day.

Its amazing how efficient modern EVs are the slower you go. Handy if things get tight for squeezing extra kms.

So what’s best practice for home charging? Think I saw Tesla recommend plug it in every night? Do current owners let it run down or just keep it topped up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 279 ✭✭paulhardman

I think their current advice is to charge to 100% at least once a week. Although a lot of EV owners subscribe to the ‘ABC’ theory - Always Be Charging!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,580 ✭✭✭eagerv

At the moment I plug in about twice a week and go to 100% (probably at about 40% when plug in). Doesn't suit to plug in every night as we are a two EV family. If I had a longer trip it may well be at a lower level.

Plenty of other Baldonnell Tent pictures here, but here’s mine regardless!

Absolutely delighted with it all - no issues, no panel gaps, no dents or scratches, fairly dirty though - off to Halfords in the morning for some snow foam and a pressure washer sprayer…

It depends what car you buy.

I currently charge my car when it gets down to mid 20's (2016 Model S Performance).

But i also subscribe to the ABC rule while in work as we have a bank of chargers so i grab it while i can.

The Standard RWD is an LFP Battery on the M3, so charge to % every day or every other day is what id do.

The LR and P, charge to 80-90% and 100% if you know your gona be driving soon.

ABCing in Kildare village! Great setup in fairness.

I won't be charging to 100% a few times a week, with WFH there's no point and I've been pure PV charged these past week or so with all the good weather. Apart from initial charge to 100% of course to help BMS etc

Any issues insuring a model 3 performance? I am fast approaching 40 with full no claims, no points etc.. I cannot get a price online. I am paying 400e a year now on a 280hp saloon but I see the insurance group on the M3P is 50 compared to 29 on mine.

I got a brilliant quote with AXA during the week. My renewal with 123 was €880. Online with AXA €503 and after making a telephone call they did it for €480!!

Another stupid thing from the v11 update.

If I have the heating or air con off but want to turn my heated seat on, I have to turn back on the fan to bring up the seat icon, turn on the heated seat then turn back off the fan.

And still no way of knowing how long have my Spotify songs or podcasts been playing. Just that stupid sliding black bar.

Ordered a performance yesterday... with May as predicted delivery. I have an Enyaq ordered since December and still no solid delivery timeframe... Still not 100% which of the two I will buy.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Ended up being out of there within 5 minutes, car perfect, just dusty. Wee range test where I stuck to 100kms/hr on the way home, 129Wh/km. Car was on 64% at pickup. That's 400km range at 100kms/hr which is identical to my Model S which I handed over to new owner at pickup point.

Ride is absolutely fine, and that's coming from Air Suspension.

Cabin noise is very low, sound is not as bad as I was expecting once I adjusted the low frequencies in the audio settings.

Bit jealous here seeing the collection pics. I was about to order a red RWD on 19s last week when I noticed the price increase. Delivery moved from Aug to Nov. It took the wind out of my sails. I've ordered a new Leaf Tekna for July instead. Everywhere is a wait of several months and I need something sooner. The L24 won't cover my commute when winter hits. I will likely get the 7 seater MY when they go on sale here.

    Stay Free

Just got an email reminder from Tesla about my delivery appointment... Like I'm going to sleep tonight never mind forget about it 😂

I am enjoying my new toy (two days since delivery) and it drives so good. The only negative i have is the radio.i don't find the app intuitive and

I appear to have some difficulty setting stations up in Favourite list. Seems overly complicated for what should be a simple task ..perhaps its just me...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,236 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Use TuneIn for the radio stations, sounds 1,000 times better than FM radio.

Then try out the Spotify app. I never got on board the whole Spotify train when it first came out, but I do use it in the car (using the Tesla account), and it's fairly good.

What’s the difference with the Tesla Spotify? Do people generally subscribe for premium connectivity or just hotspot off phone?
