I filled in a paper JBSA form and handed it into my local Intreo last Tuesday so before the October 15 cut off date. I have not had any notification of application being received and am wondering if this is normal and if so how long does it take to be processed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Hi, are you nearing an end to your PUP entitlement 🤔 just curious what the process is, I'd presumed Jobseekers benefit if enough stamps. Is there a face to face required or just fill in apication form with supporting documents? can application be done online ? Very little info about the process.

Can't link as on the phone. If u look up gov.ie it says any social welfare payments due on tues will be paid as normal. Only payments due on Mondays are paid today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Wording for bank Holidays has always been confusing, it said the same thing last few bank Holidays , my guess is whilst PUP is paid into accounts Tuesday its processed for payment on Mondays, if that makes sense

Hi Dempo - a letter is sent in the post to advise you of your options, you then go through to mywelfare.ie before a specific date and apply for JSA if you're not entitled to JSB - they advise then that PUP will continue until they have reviewed your application. Hope that helps :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Hey there, hope your well 😏

I was just curious about the process as very little info online. So essentially it looks like face to face applications not being used ? Curious to know also if they'll still allow payment of JSB/JSA Be paid into bank, normally not and people had to collect in PO🤔, I believed MAY permit this on a case by case basis but must be requested ?

Hey Dempo ... hanging in there ... hope you're well also ...

Yeah basically it is caveated that if they have questions when they're assessing the transition they'll be in touch ... I would think that will be over the phone rather than in person, especially with the way the Covid situation has really taken a turn in the past few weeks and todays news is that you're as likely to contract Covid in any situation today than ever before! ..

As you go through the application it asks do you want the payment to Post Office or Bank Account, and you can select bank account and if you have bank details already added they'll ask you to select which bank account depending on what they have saved for you. They do ask what your local post office is though and once you type in the name it shortlists the post offices in that location and you select the relevant PO.

Thanks so much, very helpful, ues I hear you re covid , I'd say it's going to be a while before face to returns re applications generally. In fairness, the Department seems to be making it seamless re the transition, I had visions of chaos.

    Thanks again 😏

If your on the 203 it ended last week, I was told would go until the 9th November but that isn't the case

  • Registered Users Posts: 89 ✭✭greenkiwi1

I have put in a JBSA application which is still under review so I was under the impression that the PUP would still be paid until a decision was made?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Sorry to hear some people did not receive their PUP today, I was just looking at the most recent up date on gov.ie/pupchanges

I was under the impression those having to apply for JSB/A had to submit the application before a certain date but that PUP would continue until the 9th November with of course the caveat "if your still eligible " , so I'm not really sure what's happened or happening, seems a little odd people's PUP being stopped before JSB/A application processed 🤔

Hopefully someone can throw some light onto what is going on

Should be stopped full stop . Plenty of work available if fellas got off their holes instead of depending on us workers to feed them. We have a great country with fellas waiting on their pup payments and loads of jobs out there .

Hello, not sure if this is the right place to ask so delete if it's not.

I tested positive last weekend, I applied for the enhanced illness benefit last Sunday and I've yet to hear anything back beyond an officer is reviewing your claim.

I'm due to go back to work next weekend but I'm still not over the fatigue.

Any idea how long it takes for the claim for the covid payment to be approved?

  • Registered Users Posts: 125 ✭✭sportloto86

Mine took 3 days before money transfer. But now I'll have to call them to find out why my latest payment was weird €291.67.

    Anyone else had this issue?

Sorry to bump this thread up.

My wife claimed 2 weeks pup during the summer, when she went back to work she then paid a very high rate of tax for the week she went back to work.

She has received a christmas bonus this morning and paid an extortionate amount of tax, people in work have convinced her it is due to the fact she claimed the PUP back during the summer. Is this possible? She would have paid back more than the €700 in tax when she returned to work during the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

That makes absolutely no sense particularly if your wife was only on PUP for 2 weeks. Those who were on PUP had their tax free allowance reduced and had the option of paying whatever was owed (miniscule for 2 weeks PUP) in one lump sum or have TFA reduced over a number of years, this was essentially aimed at those who were on pup for much longer periods.

At a minimum she need to contact revenue and query this. Even though she was only on pup for 2 weeks, when she returned to work, her employer put her on week one for tax purposes, this was Revenue's decision, I'm wondering is she actually paying emergency tax also 🤔 perhaps she also needs to query this with her employers payroll department, but certainly something seriously wrong.

I'm not a tax expert I might add and I base my answer on my own experience of PUP, obviously I'm not aware if you have seperate TFA or if TFA assigned to one of you as some married couples do.

Does anyone know if you are entitled to the Covid-19 enhanced illness benefit if you work part time and are in receipt of disability allowance?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,021 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

It's a little complicated but yes is the Answer however what the amount will be or how it effects your other social welfare payment is a little more unclear.

Scroll down on attached link to other welfare payments and EIB .

You might get more responses in the state benefits thread 😏

Need some help as my head is melted atm

I've been deemed a close contact and the person who tested positive but cant get a PCR test, my employment have me down as 'unpaid sickness' and been told to apply for the enhanced illness benefit as i have to isolate/restrict movements. I applied to the HSE to get a pack of Antigen tests today and have yet to receive an email or text from them.

As i need prove of a text from the HSE when im applying, would the text about me ordering the Antigen tests do as proof (whenever i do get it) ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,302 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Yes the text about you ordering antigens will do as proof for the enhanced illness benefit. Text should come once they're dispatched according to HSE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Tests arrived just now but no text or email

    Lord give me strength

anyone know if there’s a current backlog on enhanced illness benefit payments?

I applied Friday and haven’t heard a thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,319 ✭✭✭NATLOR

Daughter in the same situation. Rang the HSE helpline ( it's a painful wait) they took details and said she would get confirmation asap. Looks like the text system isn't set up yet for antigen ,only PCR

Reckon I'll have to do the same thing

Odd that I sent a pic of the tests and packaging and on mywelfare it says 'enchanted illness benefit' awarded with the start date been 3rd Jan. Not convinced its actually approved

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,839 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

I applied Monday (for Illness Benefit from 27th) but haven't heard back yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭glen123

I am sure there is a good bit of a backlog when it comes to Enhanced Illness Benefit.

My son applied on the 20th of Dec, only got paid today, the 6th of Jan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 884 ✭✭✭keno-daytrader

Is there a stipulation in the Covid-19 illness benefit that says you are not eligible if you have been paid from your employer? I cant find anywhere on the govt websites that stipulates that to qualify you must not have been paid when isolating.

Curious because friend was paid when isolating but had 5 days of annual leave taken to make up for the time, so basically lost a weeks holiday for later in the year.

Employer should not be taking annual leave from him.

It's actually really, really disgraceful behaviour for the employer to do that, and illegal to use annual leave when sick.

He was on sick leave - If employer pays sick leave, then they pay it and that's that. They can't take annual leave from them.

By right, what should be happening there is if employer does pay sick leave, give the annual leave days back. If they don't pay sick leave (as per contract), then annual leave days should be given back, enhanced illness benefit applied for and retrospectively the pay by the employer is given back to them.

The employer doesnt pay sick pay as per contract. The illness benefit is 350 so they will be down 600 on the week if they give back the annual leave pay and claim the benefit.

Really a **** position to be in.

By the law, that should be what happens I would say, however I'm not in Employment Law!

I suppose they could just leave it be so and accept the lost annual leave if that won't F up future days they wanted.

If they want to go by the law though I'm not even sure of the next step to take.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

My illness benefit claim is now closed and not a single word from the department

No idea what to do now, haven't been paid the €350 yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Still no payment for the EIB

Claim awarded one day and closed the next, not a word from the social

    Frustrating

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

Applied for illness benefit last Monday, Account wasn't verified on mygov so couldn't check progress. Got that verified today and it says claim closed but when I check the payment history it has the payments there for the dates I requested. Presume I will be paid this week?

What days is it paid? Tuesday and Thursday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Did anyone get paid the EIB that were told to self isolate ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 776 ✭✭✭Jafin

After getting a positive PCR or just from having a positive antigen, or something else? I had a positive PCR and got the payment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

I was demmed a close contact and had to self isolate for 5 days and take the HSE Antigen Tests. Of course no text or email from them to confirm they sent them out. Awarded the benefit one day and then claim closed the other

No joy from an email I sent, **** infuriating

  • Registered Users Posts: 776 ✭✭✭Jafin

Ah crap, sorry can't help with that unfortunately. :( Best of luck getting it sorted.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Swaine

I applied on the 5th and got a cheque in the post yesterday for €350. I just uploaded an image of a positive antigen test (HSE one). Not sure why I got a cheque as I filled out bank details (Revolut).

Is it €350 for the 10 days or will I get another payment? All very confusing.
