I'll have six families in my house for Christmas and that won't change just because the government say so

Antigen testing is snake oil -> antigen testing will have a key role

Schools are safe -> children must wear masks in school

Once a sector opens it won’t be closed down again -> closing them again

Hold firm for the vaccine -> hold firm for boosters

Perhaps Im being dramatic saying this, or hyperbolic, but whats the point in living anymore. Whats the point in getting up every morning. I honestly have never felt so low in years and years. Is this the world for my children? I would never have had any children if Id have known this was going to be their childhoods.

    Just what is the point?

It is a sad state of affairs and there is no end in sight especially with out politicians of all parties. 90 odd percent of the country vaccinated and they do this and you have people on here saying be thankful you had relatively restriction free summer. All restrictions need to lifted or the government and nphet need to come out and say why the vaccines are not working.

Ive tried to remain positive throughout this pandemic, tried to find logic in their suggestions. Even the 9e meal, i did my best to see the logic. But I am absolutely over the whole thing. Be greatful, Im 30 years old and would rather die than live another day of this.

And dare I utter a word against The government I am labeled an anti vaxer, a conspiracy theorist, called a bad parent because I dont want to mask my children, it means I dont care about them. Honest to god I feel like I cant breathe.

I would highly recommend looking for help for this. Everyone is going to feel down, sometimes very down, sometimes not too bad. But the way you're speaking here is quite serious. You are very much not alone here and don't let these thoughts and worries eat you up. This isn't me trying to belittle your feelings, at all, if anything the opposite

Great comments from Conor McGregor, if they haven't already been posted. He's spot-on, these people need to go NOW:

"Embarrassing 'leadership'. Messengers. Lap dogs. Get this system now and shred it fully! Disband nphet. Realign the hse to do it’s job. Formed 2005 to assist our hospitals. Instead annihilated.

€11.5m public funded hse money paid to media entities. This year alone. Appalling. To be at this level of vaccination % yet going backwards, and attempting now to talk mandating. Laughable.

Shame on you all in current power. EU lackeys. The tracks of this gravy train will soon be realigned and sent to its rightful destination of an Irish red brick wall.

It is time to talk Ireland leaving the European Union. We do not have leaders in Ireland, we have messengers. Subordinates.”

Oh, you've changed your tune. "Zero restrictions for the past few months" to, "Which ones have impacted you..." in the space of two posts. Which is it?

I know how you feel, am feeling the same at the moment. I was OK even with 9e crap but when they started segregating people with the covid pass that finished it for me. One of the worst and cowardly decisions ever made and hopefully those the brought it in and support will ridiculed. Absolutely disgusting decision and look now they are extending it further with over 90% vaccinated. We are being taken for a ride here.

Am I the only one who saw your user name and pictured six terrified families in party hats, tied to their chairs, watching you carve the turkey?

100% agreed Danno, but sure we love a bandwagon in this country! If you have symptoms just assume you have it and keep your distance from people for 4-5 days, see how you are getting on. Appreciate some people can't and need a test result to miss work but most people don't need to get tested.

Its true though. Government have literally gone fcuk anyone young in order to save some 80 year olds and I honestly think NPHET don't give a **** about anyone but themselves as most of those idiots have been the ones presiding over our crappy health service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭BuildTheWall

Surely it would be best for everyone and the country to reshuffle NPHET. Give Tony and co a pat on the back for the hard work the last two years and get fresh eyes on this thing, people who will think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table. Surely we must have a lot of young and talented people in the HSE who would be up to the task, bring in various representatives from different industries as well for their input.

I am making an app to see my GP 1st thing Monday morning. I have history of MH struggles and Myself and my Other half know the signs. Its been years and years but this has been such a poxy week. Public health is their primary care he said, they dgaf about anything except covering their arses after failing the healthcare system for years.ĵ

No again. It does affect me. I'm not living under lockdown though. Neither are you. A lockdown is a restriction on movement. The 2km, 5km and countywide restrictions were lockdowns.

Three month delay with the "Omicron" booster conveniently gives them another excuse to keep people locked down or under heavy restrictions.

The Omicron variant is mild. Doctor who discovered it said so, and that she didn't understand the scaremongering coming from US and Europe about it.

We said from the beginning: this will NEVER end if you keep complying. They're making a fortune and moving things along towards a new system. "The New Normal", remember.

    Stop complying.

Leaving the country has become a lot more difficult tbf. That's a form of restriction on movement.

Is Ireland the first country in the world to introduce restrictions for no apparent reason? Hospitalisations stable and falling, ICU same.

Vaccinated30, I'm glad your being proactive and making the appointment. Wishing you the very best of luck.

Titan18, your feelings are fully valid and there is no point in pretending everything is fine when it's not - because since March 2020 it very much hasn't been*. Your mental health is extremely important and feelings of being defeated and questioning (in a serious nature) whether life is worth living is not healthy or a good mindset to be in. Not everyone has easy access to mental health help but if you (or anyone) feels that way, please seek help. Please.

As for what you said about "save some 80 year olds". Could you not use the argument about "some pub owners"? That's not me suggesting you could or should but I find it interesting how people have somehow decided it's okay for anyone elderly or immunocompromised to get sick and die so long as us young and healthy are fine. Again, though, not suggesting that is what you are saying

*This is a conversation I think will need to be had post-pandemic. I get the feeling some people think the world was perfect pre-Covid and will be perfect again post-Covid. Mental health for the last few decades (or forever?) has been a serious issue in this country and across the globe, so I don't usually like to try to belittle that. That is not me suggesting anyone here is doing that btw

Answer me this - hospital and ICU cases have been dropping this week. What do you think of the CMO (an unelected, unasked for) trying to cancel children and Christmas? With our hospital and ICU numbers, our vaccination rate?

This panto style **** of “it’s a lockdown- oh no it’s not” really needs to end, it’s tiring. If people have lost their jobs, income, living standard security because of Tony H/NPHET then it needs to be called out. NPHET HAVE TO GO - don’t you dare come to us asking for more than we’ve already given if you are going to allow the same self obsessed vacuous **** dictate our public health policy.

its likely you’re imagining a lot of this perceived tyranny that’s upsetting you. So it might be useful for you to outline what’s upset you so very much.

On a positive note, I’ve noticed a massive change in opinion amongst people both in real life and online. The winds are changing. There’s only so much more of this charade they can keep going until something seriously gives.

You must've missed my posts criticising the decisions made tonight and previously.

I just wish people wouldn't compare what we have now and lockdown. They're worlds apart.

Have noticed a bit of a mood change as well.

Fingers crossed that more people start to cop on. It's the only way out of this dirt.

Ditto and the majority of people I know throughout this pandemic were playing the game and going along with all the advice. What I'm hearing now is no more, we've done what we were told, we've had enough from these pricks. The most vocal of those types are with one exception people who followed the government advice to a tee. These are not rebellious types by nature. More compliant if anything, but I suppose everyone has a limit.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.
