That must have made for a long list of options... 😁

Says the guy who wants to live under restrictions for the next decade…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,829 ✭✭✭facehugger99

    This is shameful.

    Absolutely shameful.

How this generation can look our children and grandchildren in the eye after all this is not something I can understand.

We are saddling future generations with 10s of billions of debt for a virus that mostly kills people above the age of life-expectancy.

This is media-driven, mass-hysteria and the there is so much sunk-cost at this stage that nobody has the balls to shout 'stop'.

We have been failed by the media and there is no political party to coalesce around.

This only ends when people take to the streets.

Ye you're not thinking this through. Or maybe you're just here to rile people up.

Other people obviously as you are too busy moaning about it on the Internet.

I wont be taking a booster. A booster for a variant that is no longer around, pointless. Like taking an antibiotic for a viral infection. You may think it has worked but you would have got better without it anyway.

Last line is exactly how our restrictions are going now too.

Trying too hard, obviously a wind up merchant.

No booster no pints or fancy dinners etc...

I'd fully expect a raft of other services to be restricted behind covid passes by the end of Q1 2022. We've already lost gyms and leisure centres. I'm expecting non grocery retail shops to require passes followed by things like mortgage approval requiring a pass.

The real battleground will be vaccine mandates for school children, it's in the post and it's not going to be pretty, but it will be an effective means of segregating the nasty unvaccinated even further.

The covid passport is our version of the Chinese social credit score.

None of it will make an ounce of difference, we'll see cases dwindling as summer approaches and this time next year we'll be back here again with another variant and new vaccines/boosters that will be every bit as ineffective as these ones.

    Glazers Out!

I just caught up on the news and I can't believe what's happening in this country. Nearly every eligible person vaccinated and cases and hospitalisations coming down and what? More restrictions just because... why? Because now they can, I guess.

I remember not long ago rolling my eyes at "conspiracy theorists" claiming the powers that be would use restrictions and lockdowns to paper over the poor state of the HSE every winter. I thought that was such a stupid position to hold and that our high vaccine uptake and general willingness as a people to work together while we waited for the vaccines to take effect would prove these people completely wrong. Mea culpa. They were right. It's clear to me now that no amount of vaccinations, boosters, or prophylactics are going to get us out of this. NPHET and Government impose restrictions if the situation is degrading; they impose restrictions if the situation is improving. In the last couple of weeks we've seen a stabilisation of cases and hospitalisations and yet they've started masking children, closed nightclubs, and once again they're punishing pubs and restaurants and I predict that as this downward trend continues they'll point at it as proof that restrictions worked. A good old fashioned self-fulfilling prophecy!

I literally can't see anyway out of this anymore. There's already talk of "preparing" for next winter and the possibility of multiple more years of this. How anyone at all can think that's proportionate or acceptable completely leaves me at a loss for words. Is our quality of life worth so little? Are these impositions really so minor to everyone?!

Sure your first jab and nearly all first jabs (outside of trials) were for a variant that was no longer around.

You may need to rethink your reasoning.

Well tbh since I got the vaccine Ive been on the school runs and home. A few occasions in friends and families houses, one trip to soft play and an eyebrow wax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭Vaccinated30

Yes but that trained my immune system how to deal with SARSCOV2 and my memory b and t cells still know how to react. Antibodies from a booster for a variant thats not present is pointless, I dont care about antibodies, Im not afraid to catch covid. My Memory b cells and t cells will kick in and do their job.

Plus Ive an odd sharp pain in my chest when I lie down and breath deep. Ever since i got my 2nd vaccine in May. But Ive actually never told anyone that for fear of being attacked and called a liar. But I dont care anymore.

Good now start having that conversation with your friends and family.

I was ridiculed for saying thia was going to happen. I was at the protests and had to watch the fake news paint everyone with the same brush.

People here can't admit they were wrong so thank you for being able to accept this won't stop unless we stop it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,399 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

Just pointing out that all your jabs have been for variants not dominant anymore. First line of defense is antibodies, boosters.... boost that.

You may want to go to a doc about the chest pain, easy to put it down to a vaccine side effect, but could be something else entirely and you're using a vaccine side effect as a cover.

You've said this repeatedly. What have you done about it? What protests have you organised? Have you attended any that have already happened?

They can gate whatever they want behind their little passport, it will be a cold day in hell before I get any booster.

I won't be respecting a single thing decreed by the POS NPHET government and the cowards that enable it.

Maybe people have more sense than balls?

If you get the mood of the nation from social media or loud people on here, you maybe disappointed when they don't turn up.

Easy to say popular stuff online, harder to enact in the real world.

Easy to get an online following of armchair anarchists, it's just hard to get them off the actual armchair!

    Restrictions FAIL

    Vaccines FAIL

    What's next in the armoury?

    Covid wins, end of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,681 ✭✭✭Penfailed

I wasn't asking you but for the record, I'm not motivated enough to drive for four hours to get Dublin for a protest about this. I've already been to Dublin twice this year for protests about a different matter. I've plenty of other stuff going on in my life without being out on the streets protesting about restrictions.

Unfortunately people still don't get that this is an endemic, the sooner they realise this better, so we can all move on without the threat of restrictions hanging over us continually. It's up to the Gov and the Reid to fix this, Christ knows they've had long enough to do something about about it but it's easier for them to deflect the blame.

If you got out of your bunker, you'd actually meet people, and realise they are fed up with this ****

So restrictions have had no positive effect on the virus transmission at any stage?

So the vaccine has not reduced severe illness and death at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Did you ever turn around and ask yourself "are we fully up the garden path yet?" Did you?

The vaccines have been a huge let down, need to focus on better therapeutics

Sweden coped well since the start of all this, UK on the right path, you know actually living with the Covid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Four hours drive! Let me guess, you're one of these self proclaimed prophets down the west of Cork trying to evangelises the locals into believing that dodging wolves on the way to the village green to pick up one of their communal cars is the way to go to save the planet. Tell me, how's that one working out?

After the #strikeforfriday protests you've attended (by diesel car over a 4 hour DRIVE I presume) you must feel awfully smug.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,399 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

Why have they been a huge let down?

We'd have been locked down hard all this time waiting for therapeutics and in large numbers.

UK reports vaccines have saved X number of lives, people think, wow that's great.

Irish media reports vaccines have saved X number of lives, people think, oh that's ****, we expect the dead to be revived ffs!

You couldn't be further off the mark with your guess.
