Well that is good news on the tolls. So the technology and the systems are there to allow people who only get on the Motorway at Enfield and head east to not pay the full toll, always thought it was unfair having to pay the full toll for only using the Enfield Kilcock section. Anyway that is for another forum

S and X. Any S or X sold and delivered before April 2017 came with transferable free supercharging.

Then there was a year or more of free non transferable supercharging which was removed. It was then added back in 2019 for a couple of quarters. So there's plenty of S and X owners out there with free supercharging for their ownership.

Yeah still maybe 80-90? The chance of more than 3 of them with free supercharging ever being at the Sandyford supercharger at the same time is almost zero.

Or maybe my rough guess of that figure is completely wrong, anyone have reliable (SIMI?) figures for these?

    2014 3 Model S

    2015 2 Model S

    2016 7 Model S

    2017 38 Model S 12 Model X

    2018 96 Model S imported used

    2019 77 Model S imported used

    2020 69 Model S imported used 4 Model X

From SIMI, pretty basic info though as I am not aware of any way to filter UK imports from 2017+ of cars with (potential) free SuC

Traffic used to be mental in Sandyford. Microsoft have a massive campus across the road, there was loads of builders building skyscrapers. There is luas park and ride, a hospital, racecourse. The roads nearby were changed to one way system. Many staff are working from home. I expect it will cause delays, and it's a pity they did not do a deal with a nearby hotel or petrol station.Carrickmines would have been more accessible even though it does get jammed at peak shopping times. It would be fine if there was other superchargers on the same side of city near m50. Somewhere near the red cow would be far busier.

Dublin is big, there will (should) be more SuC locations there in time

Traffic in Sandyford industrial estate at rush hour is mental. I'm sure it's better now with covid and working from home but I only moved away from the area 6 months ago and it would still be heavy enough if I went down to Aldi to do a shop at 6pm on a Monday. It's not a great location for a supercharger but better than nothing.

I asked the guys in Sandyford about the supercharger around 18 months ago and they told me at that time they were looking into getting it into the Stillorgan Luas park and ride next to the existing ESB chargers. That would have been worse, there are some zealous car park inspectors there who won't let you leave the car when charging without paying for the minimum of 4 hour's parking.

Yup. The perfect place for local owners of S85 with free supercharging. Tesla nerfed them so it takes 2 hours to SuC to 100% now, so they can park up for 2 hours and charge for free.

I'd do it if I lived near. Which I dont. But that charger is on my route for everywhere I go.

The Sandyford location is likely to get much busier post-pandemic when office workers start to return, you've got the likes of Microsoft, Vodafone, Salesforce and a buch of other big companies in that area.

Not much to be gained with photo in the dark, soil pulled back and hardcore laid, couldn't see whether cabling in place for stalls, actually a bit roomier than expected

Back from my weekly drive to Sandyford. Not an expert but I think the groudworks is nearing the end as it looked more "filled" than last week. Anyway some progress is there.

    From the Facebook group;

Athenry, seemingly 8 V3 stalls going in.

Really need even 4 stalls somewhere on the M9 as there really is no options bar ESB chargers that dont even work!

Has Tesla increased the Supercharger pricing here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,168 ✭✭✭✭unkel

If they doubled the price again, it would still be well worth it.

Easiest way to see prices is via screen on Tesla itself, SuC pricing has always been changing and also dynamic (time of day) depending on location. Tesla don't keep their website updated with pricing and never announce price charges

The word on Facebook is Athenry site will be finished on Monday, but apparently one of the contractors there said it’ll be at least 2 months before ESB Networks hook the site up to the grid.

I've heard a lot of the SuC delays in Ireland were ESB dragging heels and locations having to be moved, sure Enfield must be ready by now too

Enfield "tombstones" have been in place for some time. They are waiting on a connection too I'd say.

I'd say that crew will head up to Sandyford next and then Belfast

Meanwhile ESBNetworks are probably finished up all non essential works for the year….

fire things back up around the end of January when all the sweets are gone…

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,509 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

So I suppose that Enfield (deffo completed a while back) and Athenry (to be completed earlier this week) are now going to just gather dust until next year until ESB get their finger out, and they would be so useful to cater for the XMas visits

Maybe priority went to Carnmore cross instead of Athenry, gone live today (as posted in ecars thread)

Was at Ballacolla SuC yesterday for a grub break, was a lovely dechromed 162 Model S there when we arrived, ate my roll in the car and a model 3 and MIC model 3 pulled in along with a silly Model S who hooked up beside me (assume they are unaware of the load sharing in V 2s) when I was walking back to car from dumping food packaging. So 50% occupancy, Ballacollla is probably the SuC I’ve visited most often so the SuC getting busier for sure.

PS eCars now have a high power beside their 50 unit so Ballacolla now a 11 fast charger hub (12 if you include fast AC)

Wasn’t that fast AC reduced down from 43 to 22kW? As is the eCars policy to ditch fast AC.

The most important updates at this stage will be when the ESB Network vans are onsite…..
