Tesla SuC map has been updated to reflect opening of the network. Globally only showing NL at the moment.

This is the only map feature I don't want to see updated anytime soon...

I guess the closest charger is where they will put the disabled parking the planners required.

Cant come soon enough. The eCars RFID wasnt working at the Applegreen Enfield when I was there last, so couldnt use the DCI card and had to fu$£ around with the ecars app and do a manual top up so I could get a charge....after a 35min wait with the previous user who got there 3 mins before me!

Just looking at history of SuC installs in Ireland, Enfied was down for the original install dates of 2017

Looks like only a single cable on the units at Enfield meaning V3…

Hmmm, can't see any destination chargers there, not that I'm bothered, just PP was for 8 chargers

yeah, it looks like 6 SuC only bays... so perhaps the destination chargers were placed elsewhere... maybe closer to the traditional hotel parking spaces...

either way, great to see.... Was thinking about a trip over to the Christmas market in Galway in the next few weeks, but relying on eCars is a non runner on that route, and I've yet to use Ionity... Enfield means it's still too tight in the SR+.... Athenry can't come quick enough to completely cover the Dublin - Galway route...

According to a post on Facebook it looks like groundwork’s have commenced in Athenry…

Those sites in NL are an experiment to see how bad the situation is using a a Tesla SC with the Charge port oriented to the back

Everyone was wondering why 2 of the SCs in the row were oriented differently to the rest, seems clear now that they'll be used for Non-Teslas

If they move them to the Middle of the Parking spot it should make it possible to charge many more vehicles without blocking other loading spots.

I've used those forward facing stalls, you have to reverse extremely close to them, they in no way lend to charge ports on rear right due to cable length, it can barely reach rear left.

Look at the gap from "stoppers" on the ground to stall

Those two look to have bigger gaps betweeen them. Seems you could charge almost anything and not block the other.

Hopefully that's the way they go, keep only 2 plugs per install open to all

Spoke to the General Manager of the Raheen Woods Athenry today. Works on the supercharger should be complete in 5 weeks. Works progressing well. Hopefully it will be ready for my trip to north east Galway at Christmas. He also said it’s been 4 years in the making. Being held up by ESB networks due to Substation requirements. Great news that it will be completed so swiftly now.

Brilliant. With Athenry & Enfield opening within a few weeks of each other, that’s the Galway - Dublin route taken care of…

id love to see a few more new locations announced…. Even if we are waiting Elon time for them….. you’d imagine a new location announcement for Sligo/Waterford/ Derry would give sales a bit of a boost….

Although we are literally years waiting for these, I think ESB are actually the stumbling block, not Tesla that I thought originally

Yes, Athenry will also sort Cork to Sligo somewhat with a long range or performance model.

Now only to get a Supercharger West of Skibbereen/Bantry in Co Cork. The Mizen Peninsula area is truly forgotten from a EV charging network point of view. Which is a big problem during the spring/summer/autumn months.

I've done that run maybe 3/4 times now in the SR+, and always found The Galway Plaza as a reliable stop.

    They have a 150kw and a 3 head 50kw, so i've never been waiting.

Guess with the recent influx of EVs that probably a less attractive option now tho.

I (also an SR+) used Galway Plaza once back in August, and as you describe, I arrived and there were no other cars there so plugged into the 150kW unit, though within 30 seconds of plugging in, another Model 3 arrived, and plugged into the 50kW unit. The guy told me he'd been watching on the app and the site was showing as all available, so 1 minute out he felt confident of getting on the 150kW unit. It was of course after that point, but before he'd actually arrived that I arrived and plugged in...

About 15 minutes later 2 Model S's arrived within a minute of each other, and had to wait (neither had a CHAdeMO adaptor), so it can go from relatively ok to a sh1tshow very quickly at those sites where there are only 2 CCS plugs..

I got to about 66% and got out of there..

Theres always the horrible 10-15 minutes when I'm en route to an eCars charger and checking it's status in the cars web browser, and seeing it as available....., and still available..... and still available.... were almost there.... still available....... we'll be there in 2 minutes........ still available........ I think we.'re actually going to do it!!......... and then WHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! you arrive and there's someone just after pulling in to try fast charging for the first time in their shiny new EV, even though they probably only live 5 minutes down the road.......

Has anyone ever had that feeling at a Supercharger? Didnt think so..

We want to visit the Christmas market in Galway hopefully this year, but there's not a chance in hell I'll do it unless the Athenry SuC is up and running.. I will not rely on eCars for any trips anymore, and if I must, I'll factor in a 90 minute charging stop to allow for queuing...

LOL, if I'm on my way to a charger and see an EV ahead of me I blast past in case they have same plan as me!

Not if going to SuC though, chilled drive

Funnily enough back in February, I did the same down in Cork...

I was heading into the city from Midleton direction, and saw that Frankfield was busy so was heading for Rochestown to get enough top up to get me back up to Ballacolla. Approaching th eDunkettle Interchange I spied a Leaf in the left lane heading for the tunnel, so proceeded to absolutely rinse him, just in case he was also heading for Rochestown....

The worst feeling though is when arriving at the charger, and only seeing a car just pulling into the spot.

I've done that once or twice 😂

Usually Leafs doing Leafspeed, so easy targets 😂

The Galway Dublin route has decent charger coverage.

In my i3 I often use the eCars “hub” in Athlone behind kilmartins, at least it has a 150kw and 50kw.

I’ve been lucky and never needed to queue on Galway Dublin trips, knowing I’ll need a charge at some point I keep an eye on chargers I’m passing from about 60% and will top up if one I’m passing is available, if it’s not then onto the next one.

Be nice not to give much thought to it once I have the model 3 and the SuCs are open.

I may still pop into the athlone charger though, handy to top up on snacks enroute and get some charge at the same time.
