nightlcubs opening and pubs hours extended tomorrow but anyone know what is going on?
really chaotic stuff
This is reminding me of the lads who used to say that we weren't locked down when we were in level 5, because we weren't literally locked inside our houses 😅
I'd totally agree that those that can't get vaccinated need some arrangement. I think the "vaccinated, recovered or negative test" that some countries in Europe are using could be used here.
Well we do the vaccinated and recovered here currently for hospitality.
And looking like events might be using antigen for cert generation.
Nothing yet, the guidelines have to be made based on what Micheal Martin announced on Tuesday so it's not easy to be fair to them!
They expect to have them later today though
Shambolic. Hours before reopening and nobody knows what's going on 🤣
What were you expecting after the announcement on Tuesday?
Full reopening, no certs, distancing, masks etc... Return to normality as promised.
I suspect the lockdowns will return all over Europe much to the same extent as last winter. The pandemic is not over just because people are bored of it and it is not really in politicians hands. If the hospitals are overwhelmed that is the deciding factor. If you don't lock down of your own accord Coronavirus will do it for you.
You also have to take into account that we are only about two years into the pandemic. Some pandemics last 1 year. Some 2. Some 5. Some 30-40. The future cannot be predicted and all bets are off.
But at least we got 20-30 years of cheap **** from China. It was worth tolerating their stupid regime but this is that debt is now going to be paid.
Rules for nightclubs and gigs are still not clarified at all
What pandemic lasted 40 years we had a vaccine for.
Only 2 years!
F off with that
That's an expensive night out for some!
This pooped up in my local village and fair **** to them, open weekends
Sorry wrong thread 😅
Is maith an scáthán súil charad.
This is from a daily mail journalist.
Does anyone have any more context on this?
Are the security firms to be hired by the business itself or is he talking about the government contracting covid compliance checks out to private security companies?
I think wishful thinking for some of these lockdown merchants. I’m sure he’ll be fine under the bed for a few years.
There really won’t - how do you expect any government to sell lockdowns again? It was different last year when we had no vaccines and didn’t fully understand Covid, it’s totally different this year. And the “overwhelming the hospitals” thing won’t work either - we’ve been told numerous times they were upgrading capacity and if they haven’t done so with the time and money they’ve been given, well that’s not on any of our shoulders.
There's no selling required. If cases sky rocket and hospitals get overwhelmed there will be more lockdowns, businesses will be closed again. These are simple facts
Smallpox. The vaccine was first developed in 1796 and it was finally eradicated in 1980. 184 years later. During that time it flared up many times all over the world in various different epidemics. Some lasted 2 years. Some 4. Some 10. We are still looking at covid like it'll be oversoon but the reality is its probably just the beginning. Granted we have much better capabilities now it it might not take so long. But all bets are off and betting there won't be a shutdown this winter seems foolish.
There’s definitely a sense out there that people are for want of a better word “bored” of Covid and the pandemic
i would personally love if covid simply vanished due to this. It would be great. However it doesn’t work like that at all :/
This is an act of nature. 2 years is nothing.
Lockdowns? Nope. Business closed? Perhaps, but try telling people who are fully vaccinated they can't be in the same place together. None of the excuses will work this time and you can quote me that there will be no return to what we were under in 2020.
An equally simple fact is that we are also running out of people for the disease to infect to the extent that they require hospitalisation. Even the current "projections" don't see that happening despite them not ruling it out.
What will those people do? Protest? What will that achieve? Unfortunately for all of us, if the idiots in government make a decision, we have no choice but to accept the consequences. Just like we have done for the last 18 months.
Who's more likely to spread it around? The vaccinated 70yr old or the unvaccinated 20yr old?
It's over as far as Denmark and Sweden are concerned
There are things people can try to do. For me i’ll never be in a lockdown again because i have a plan B. I’ll be relocating to the USA if there’s even a hint of it here. Best of luck in your lockdown though.
BTW this is the likely trajectory of Covid 19:
Completely ignore the restrictions and they have every right to do so (can't do anything about a business being closed if it comes to that but restrictions on movement etc? No way). That's a legal minefield they won't walk themselves in to.
Relocating to the states? Best of luck yourself.
It's the 20 year olds right to not get vaccinated.
You cannot then say they should be punished for that choice when they pose no more threat to the health service or anyone.
To do so would be intellectually dishonest.
Or do you think that if the government tells you to take medication you should no questions asked or lose your ability to partake in society?
