Those making the decisions probably don't rate him that highly. Too small, too indie. I like him but he's not a game changer for AEW by any means. Or anyone else really.

PCO say his contract with ROH is up in December, I'd like to see him end to Impact I think he would fit in great there with there wacky gang.

Gargano looks like a lock for AEW. I'm mixed, great wrestler in DGUSA, PWG and Evolve, loved the early NXT stuff but, and for all the claims that it's the house style that's the problem, has always had a tendency to lean into being overly dramatic.

Pete Dunne has signed a new 3 year deal according to fightful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

No surprise I doubt any other US promotion would have signed him and WWE killed the English wrestling scene with NXT UK.

The same gobshite who scouted female talent in a catalogue, and booked the wrong one legged wrestler, and back in the day couldn’t imagine what a wrestler in OVW(Danny bashham) looked bald so had shave his head despite him being the OVW champion. There were contract issues in the attitude era but they were very few and far between because Jim Ross knew what he was doing unlike the less talented Laurinaitis.

I saw that Cornette video where he was rightly indignant at John Laurinatis for shaving Basham's head, while he was OVW Champion.

I guess if Edge & Bryan Danielson can come back from their own respective injuries, then surely Paige herself could.. Guess we'll know in the new year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Fair play to Paige but I could care less about her. She wasted her potential ages before her injury.

Find her so annoying especially "This is my house!!!" Always thought she was overrated in ring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,866 ✭✭✭Pentecost

I'm getting flashbacks to that "Paige here" ad that they wouldn't stop showing at one stage.

Roman vs. Brock confirmed for the Saudi Show.

Blergh, those shows are always shíte.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

If WWE cared about their regular shows as much as they do about their Saudi blood money shows the product might be semi-watchable!

For the title? Gives away Roman keeping the title so at Extreme Rules

Title wasn't mentioned, so I presume it's a non title. Unless that gets changed after Extreme Rules next weekend.

    AEW outselling WWE.

The wrestling fourm here on Boards used to be one of the most chilled and relaxed and enjoyable forums to read on Boards, It now is becoming a toxic hate filled WWE fanboys giving shade to anyone who likes, posts or talks other promotions.

    Few things

    1) no it wasn't, it used to be like the bridge trolls lived under. It's only the past few years that decent mods got it under control and it became in any way chilled.

2)not liking and praising everything AEW does doesn't make people "toxic hate filled WWE fanboys". I criticise it a healthy amount and I don't watch WWE. It's like anything some AEW is ok and some is crap to some people. It's why the cards have different types of performers and matches, to appeal to different people and tastes.

    3) Certain posters are so enthusiastic about AEW and constantly try to put it over while taking shots at WWE it's quite easy to wonder if they have an agenda. There used be a problem on this forum with shills so it's not out of the question.

    It's not that deep.

People poked fun at me a while back for thinking MLW was the best wrestling promotion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

    Thats a massive exaggeration.

This place is still sound. Its far from toxic.

AEW outselling WWE in NY, that's got to sting Vince and the E stans out there. Hook is more of a draw than Big E!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

Not that I can claim to know how these things work but my impression was always that AEW tickets would sell out fairly quickly.

As a comparison I imagine that fans would be confident of picking up tickets for a normal WWE show closer to the date, and wouldn't feel the same panic to snap them up quickly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 KeegoLaughs

Tickets went on sale 10 days beforehand. Not many have the money to pay for 2 events so close together. People didnt know wwe was running the building until after aew tickets went on sale.

If it happened here it would be the same thing. If aew announce the uk tour after the wwe tour, they wont sell tickets as fast. Not a big deal, not surprising.

  • Registered Users Posts: 773 ✭✭✭TimesArrow

none of this is in the least bit surprising from “locker room leader” undertaker, who really comes across as a piece of work in real life. More toxicity and appalling behaviour from behind the scenes at wwe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

No surprise there really those locker room leaders were nothing more than bullies.

I want to the full story told of Joey Styles putting JBL in place by knocking him out when he had enough of the bullying.

Lilian Garica could tell some stories of bullying from HHH and lots others if she wanted to listening to others on how she was treated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

With Terri saying it and now Renee, I wonder just how often people were told backstage "Don't sell it!" I'd say it happened a lot

None of this is surprising or new news. All those stories are out there. Bullying, ribbing, treating women like ****, **** in peoples bags, intentionally injuring people etc. Always been that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,441 ✭✭✭Riddle101

I hear Chris Kanyon is being covered in the next Dark Side of the Ring episode. I'd say a lot of wrestlers are going to get the same treatment as Ric Flair after it comes out. He was treated very badly from what I understand.

Flair posted a statement on Twitter and hastily deleted it...

Every person that I've worked with, from my lawyer to my publicist to my wife has said not to post a response; but I've never run from past behaviors before and I'm not going to start now. I want to clarify a few things:

About four years ago, I gave ESPN full access to my life for a "30 for 30" special. They covered taxes, financial issues, adultery, divorces, the passing of my child and drinking/partying AT LENGTH.

Rory Kampf, desperate to matter for another 15 minutes, did an interview about it this morning. When Rory’s lips are moving, he's typically lying, but one part of what he said was the God's honest truth: "I'd never heard that he had forced someone to touch his genitals,” Karpf admitted. "Everything with Ric that was construed as negative I tried to address in the 30 for 30. His drinking, his philandering, his adultery, his money problems, there's quite a bit, but never, at least in the people that I spoke to, no one ever brought up that he would force himself on somebody."

I allowed my personal life and the lives of my wife and children to be turned upside down for one reason: Whether it's good or bad, even the really bad, the truth has to matter. Even in wrestling.

My issues have been well documented over my 40+ year career. The impact of drinking too much (which nearly killed me 5 years ago) has been told time and time and time again. The reason Rory (or anyone else for that matter) never heard stories of me forcing myself on ANYONE is simple: it never happened.

    Dig up, stupid.

This may be the wrong call, but I believe Flair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭ThePott

    Welcome to boards Mr. Dreamer

In all seriousness, the defense of everything he says is a lie, except the one good thing is an odd one.

You can believe Flair if you wish in regards to the specific incident of whether he forced a woman to touch his genitals or not.

However, what is not in denial by anyone on board that plane is the fact that Flair exposed himself and was "helicoptering" his penis while walking up and down the compact aisles of the plane, aisles which he knew were occupied by flight attendants that he did not personally know.

That, alone, is inexcusable behaviour and something that he should have been punished for.

Even standing naked in front of the lady and blocking her way so she cannot move away from him is sexual intimidation and being drunk is no excuse for that.

Flair having no issues pulling his penis out in public places and never seeing any repercussions at the time gave him more freedom to keep doing to those who didn't what to see it or be near it.

As if Bliss couldn't be more perfect, now she's shítting on Meltzer...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,866 ✭✭✭Pentecost

I saw all the hooha about that segment and Meltzer etc so I went and watched it. It really wasn't that bad at all, if you leave aside Alexa's gimmick. Which she more or less did anyway. I've seen a lot worse on the increasingly rare occasions I dip into Raw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,878 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A source with in the WWE is now confirming fans walked out.

Bryan Alvarez said that someone in WWE who was in the building sent him a text to confirm that hundreds of people left during the segment but the source disputed the number that Meltzer reported and added that the number was closer to 700.

Alvarez said, “Dave last night on the Observer Radio show said that during that interview segment, 1500 people walked out. Well if you’ve gone to social media today, which admittedly I have not but I can tell you this. Alexa was upset about this report and here’s what I can tell you, okay? Forget a fan or Dave or just some random bloke in the building. Last night during the show, shortly after the Alexa Bliss-Charlotte segment, somebody in WWE [and] in the building – not some random fan. This is someone who works for the company and was in the building. They texted all of us actually and they said that 700 people had walked out, 700.”

Alvarez continued, “So then last night on Observer Radio, Dave said 1500. Well, today, that same person questioned the 1500 but reiterated and this is a quote that they ‘would stand by the number of 700.’ So now we are splitting hairs or whatever. This is from someone there that was in the building, not watching at home [but] in the building. It is abundantly clear that hundreds of people walked out. Was it 700, was it 900, was it 564, was it 1500? Bro, I don’t know, I wasn’t there okay? I know that she’s mad. I’d probably be mad too if I did some segment and people walked out but it appears to be a factual statement that a number of people walked out during that segment. I don’t know what the real number was, I wasn’t there but there were people that walked out during that segment. Is it the end of the world? No. You know what else I heard from that person? That they sold a lot of merch which would probably mean dolls and shirts and whatever. Alexa is gonna get her merch paycheck and hopefully, that will make her feel better but there’s good and bad with this story. That’s what I can tell you about what happened last night during that segment.”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

When they say "walked out", do they mean of the building or just used the segment for a toilet break or whatever?

Not defending the product but if it happened it sounds planned or something. Strange they all time it for the same segment. True, it might've been the last straw after not liking what happened before, but the show was nearly over at that point with only the Hardy/Sheamus match and the triple threat after it.

I guess 700 people felt that it was the perfect time for a piss break. Theyd be right.

    The whole gimmick is dirt.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

If it's true that people walked out I wouldn't just put it at Bliss' door. Charlotte is utterly stale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,441 ✭✭✭Riddle101

It's interesting looking back on the Plane Ride from Hell incident now. It seems to me like WWE targeted Scott Hall and Curt Henning and used them as fall guys in that incident. Curt had a wrestling match with Brock Lesnar on the plane and ended up getting released afterward, even though Vince and Kurt Angle did the same thing. Scott was drunk on the flight as well, but compared to Flair and Goldust he wasn't any different. So they must have used Hall and Hennig as fall guys. Either that or they just wanted to get rid of them, but it was unfair that Henning got released.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Ah I could still have time for Charlotte, but I have zero time for this Bliss gimmick. Its not her fault either though, its WWEs for persisting with it.

Sounds a bit like circling the wagons after Dave took his original bullshit too far and everyone called him out on it. Now we have an anonymous source confirming it and 1500 or 700 is just splitting hairs
