Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

WWE & Netflix releasing an interactive film for Halloween staring The Undertaker trying to get The New Day in his haunted mansion.

The New Day as those pesky teens.

Doesn't his son work for WWE? Probably won't for much longer!

Foley is spot on in what he says. There’s a lack of interest from fans due to their on air product baring a few exceptions, being awful to watch, and yes why would any wrestler, male or female trust that WWE will help you. I mean just look at NXT compared to raw and smackdown ? how many times have over and popular talent from NXT gone to the main roster and by and large been treated like jobbers ? Why would we the fans care about a wrestler when the company present that character as an afterthought. Vince McMahon is noted as saying “perception is reality”, which is true, but the problem that WWE is perceived as bad.

Kevin Owens's contract is reportedly up in January next year. Given his history with Adam Cole and the Bucks you'd imagine he'll be heading for AEW. He could do some great work there with the talent they've got.

The fact most people appeared to enjoy Gage v Jericho for the spectacle that it was shows there is a place for it.

Every now and then is fine by me. I dont wanna see Gage every week but I and others certainly enjoyed it for what it was.

Doesn't Joey Janela have some involvement with GCW? Then again anywhere a wrestler, Indie or AEW contracted can get some work, it's not a bad thing, and helps build bridges/connections.

Also when see complaints from me fans that AEWs roster is to bloated its great that when they aren’t being used on AEW shows they can go and work for GCW, PWG and other smaller promotions not just the big ones like Impact, NWA, NJPW & AAA.

Those wrestlers get to sell their merch at these smaller promotions that might not get sold at the bigger ones because bigger names are there.

Who saw Roman Reigns ever being up with Omega?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭ThePott

Aside from the other year that Omega won, Roman usually beats Omega in the rankings.

This is the time where it pays to remind everyone that the PWI 500 is mostly based on kayfabe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,866 ✭✭✭Pentecost

Balor is surprisingly high up the list, kayfabe or not.

Several sites are reporting WWE offered Cole a 7 figure contract to be on Smackdown as a heel manager.

A f’n manager. Apparently it was Prichard’s idea. He thought he was too small to be a credible threat as a wrestler.

Good man Bruce single handly putting WWE back 30 years.

Triple H recovering from a heart attack.

A cardiac event doesn’t nessecarily mean a straight heart attack. Given they mention the genetics part, could be an abnormality that was caught during a check up. But still, never nice to hear that sort of thing happening with someone so relatively young.

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭orecir

Makes sense to why Bruce and Vince are looking after NXT now.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

You just know it's something Vince would view as weakness. HHH will never get the book proper now.

The Real Genetic Freak will have a big smile on his face

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,866 ✭✭✭Pentecost

True it was the cardiac event part that led me to say heart attack but I appreciate it could mean something less serious. Anyway good luck to him and his family I'm sure he'll bounce back well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,205 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

To be fair, a cardiac event is usually a modern term to describe a heart attack.

Its reported by WWE triple h had a genetic heart issue - which if I am not mistaken is what Arnold Schwarzenegger said he had years ago when he had his heart surgery. Which was really a result of years of steroid use.

Triple H was on steroids for many years and even at one point could give Arnold a run for his money. So I don't think it's a stretch to say this is probably down to steroid use over the years.

In any case hope the chap gets better.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,253 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

Whatever way you slice it, it can happen to anyone. You mention steroids but I'd be fairly confident that the likes of Triple H would have access to thorough medicals annually as part of his job.

It's simply just **** luck that could have been a caused by a myriad of issues that happened in the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,013 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

HHH was clearly on steroids (likely dianabol, deca and those types) but more importantly growth hormone for years. It makes a mess of your arteries.

Former WWE commentator Todd Grisham will be commentating this weekend on the Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort fight on FITE TV and his co com for it will be none other than WWE Hall of Famer "The Donald" Donald Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,338 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Jesus. Shouldn’t a former president be somewhere else on this particular weekend given the significant anniversary of 9/11 ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

How's about just letting the 20th anniversary of 9/11 pass in peace. Without it being turned into a shitshow all about himself by the former guy.

I would say it was a fall from grace to go from President to boxing commentator in a few months but he never had any grace anyway. Better off that he's back to that showbiz rubbish, he'll do far less damage there.

Reports saying wwe are looking to sell in the next 18 to 24 months and while nbc and fox are in the running to purchase, latest news is Disney is the mix too.

I said several months ago on here that wwe would likely be bought by Disney. Just a strong feeling I have. Now of course, if I could predict next weeks lotto numbers I would be more happy lol.

Kenny is a big lad and seeing him standing along side Cole on Wednesday, the latter's height didn't seem noticeable to me.

What is this age old obsession with height all about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

The source reporting that WWE for sale story isn't anyway reputable apparently, so I'd take that story with a large pinch of salt.

I doubt it will be sold but if it is I'd say it won't be until Vince has passed on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,009 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Kenny is billed at 6 foot, so he's only about 5'10. He would be considered small in WWE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,205 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

Yeah, height shouldn't be an issue these days. We all know the story - wwe, even back in 1980s wwf was the land of the giants. Under 6ft and you were considered a midget lol. Sure over the last decade they've relaxed compared to what they've used to be but it's stupid.

Wrestling is all about making money. So does it matter if someone is 5ft6? I mean if someone is akin to a money printing press with how much they could make wwe, height shouldn't matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Look how entertaining Darby Allin is, he would not be pushed as hard if he was in WWE.

    Height and size isnt everything.

Could The Rock afford to buy, he is minted from films and producing

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,211 ✭✭✭LineOfBeauty

Pro wrestling is still an aesthetic business. A bad body, bad gear, bad haircut, all have the potential to mess you up. But height and not having a jump off the screen physique are obviously less important in 2021. It can still be an advantage, but Omega (his physique is impressive of course) at 5ft 10 is a great example of a wrestler in modern pro wrestling scaling to heights that maybe would not have been possible 25 years ago.

The WWF obsession with body and height gave them an edge over the NWA and certainly blew the British scene out of the water on shores closer to home but if the big body and height is the norm then it's the exceptions that stand out. It's no surprise Vince has gone back to his default mode (big is good), it's been successful before but when your audience is conditioned more to appreciate work ethic over look and their reactions on TV make that preference clear, it's tough for these big guys to get over purely on look anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,570 ✭✭✭savemejebus

The Rock would be mad to buy it. Whoever buys it inherits a buttload of upcoming trouble. Unionisation grumbles, independent contractor status, ongoing CTE problems. Whenever it's sold all this stuff will crop up because whoever buys won't have the experience/be as crooked/carny as WWE currently are to make all these things go away.

I can't stand James Cordon however he is a big deal in the States,

GCW getting major main stream coverage here.

Johnny Gargano's contract is up December 3rd of this year.

WWE were apparently aware of this and thought Cole and Gargano's contract were up at the same time. There is interest in keeping him with the company with discussions to take place in the coming weeks. Sean Ross Sapp who broke the story seems to think he will leave though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

The WWE were apparently aware, and they didn't think to tie Gargano to another deal, instead of discussions to take place in the coming weeks.

Cole's contract expired after Summerslam, Kevin Owens deal is up in January 2022, Gargano's deal expires this December.

My one question, who's running their HR Department?

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 24,974 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

While I agree Johnny should leave the problem is if he goes to AEW they’re getting very stacked with some serious talent some talent will be destined to be midcard fodder forever.

He would do well in IMPACT but that seems too small scale for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,881 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Gargano would be better off going to ROH or MLW and get the stink and stagnation of NXT off him.
