    This thread for general chat, discussion player picks etc. Picks thread is here.


    Pick order is as follows:

    1 IncognitoMan
    2 Bounty Hunter
    3 wrestlemaniac
    4 Liam O
    5 GlaDOS
    6 Ferris_Bueller
    7 Mr. Nice Guy
    8 SlickRic
    9 Lucas Hood
    10 Hello 2D Person Below
    11 martyos121
    12 dr.kenneth noisewater

    Order reversed on even numbered rounds

    Any player called up for a Euro 2020 squad (List here) is eligible for the regular rounds. Form based on total career (peak) form.

    Round 4 is the Euro Legends round: Retired players, who played in a a previous Euros. Form based on total international form.

    Round 5 is the Non-UEFA round: Any player who has received a cap for a non-UEFA based team in the last year (Since 1/6/2020). Form based on total career (peak) form.

    While just a player name is required for a pick, a brief player profile, picture,how he'll fit into your team is always appreciated.


    We have 12 participants, so after picking, split into 4 groups of 3. Vote for who tops each group, then 2 semis and a final.

    Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    It could work in your favour. There's a lot of strikers that will be available in the non-EU round or even the legends round. If you have the best defences built by then it could be very interesting.

    Find it hard to believe with the pick of the Belgian team that anyone apart from KDB would be taken. Can play the 6/8/10, such a gifted player.

    Even in their prime I’d tend to agree that Hazard would not be first choice of those two (and it is their prime people are picking based on) That said I think most avoid naming players unpicked yet so such discussions don’t usually happen but who knows maybe he is a Chelsea fan with a soft for auld Eden who tbh was quality before he moved to Spain.

    I like the picks being made. I'd agree that Kane is next in line after Lewandowski in terms of CFs and when I picked the big Pole I said he should win the Ballon D'or this year but if not him I'd be given it to Kante if france win the Euros such a great player who could easily have gone earlier.

    Yeah it was a toss up between Kane and Kante for me, so when Glados picked Kane it made my decision easier. Some good picks so far and plenty more left available. It will get interesting later in the draft when the quality dries up a bit.

    IncognitoMan was obviously picking Ronaldo from the start, but if he picks who I am expecting him to pick as his first pick in the non-Uefa round it will be very hard to stop his team..

    Yeah, in hindsight, it's a bit of an oversight in terms of the structure!

    Was thinking the same myself cos although some might argue they might not work well together etc or work back for the team etc it really might be hard to go with that arguement and not the My GAwd they are great argument.

    Kante's a super pick. I had it in my mind to get a world class CF first pick, but if it didn't work out Kante would have been my next choice.

    Jesus Neuer an awful pick so early, getting peak Neuer makes it slightly better but no way a gk should go so early imo

    Kante on the other hand is great value at number 6, had him a top 3 pick myself and can now build a team on a solid base

    We could balance out the picks by adding one final special round at the end. A round of players who didn't make the Euros through Injury or their teams not making it. Have it go either in the 10th round or a special final round where you can pick and replace one player in your team from the list of players who didn't make the tournament.

    That would balance it a bit more fair in my eyes.

    Standard Picking Order R1 advantage of first pick of the best players at this euros.

    Reverse order R4 has the advantage of first pick of the legends

    Standard Order R5 has the advantage of first pick of the non-EU players

    Reverse Order special round has advantage of first pick of players who did not make the tournament

    That leaves each picking order with 2 advantages. Even it up a bit?

    Why not, the most successful teams are always built on a solid goalkeeper and defence. Look at the difference Alisson/Van Dijk made to Liverpool last year, Dias made to City this year, Van Der Sar made to Man Utd after years of terrible keepers after Schmeichel. The list goes on. Sure Greece won a Euro's based on their defence.

    When it comes to drafts the gk is arguably one of the least important positions. The difference in quality between a round 1 picked gk and a round 10/11 picked gk is usually a lot less than the difference in quality between a round 1 outfield player and round 10/11 outfield player

    And although I agree that these types of drafts do always skew towards more attacking players, I would argue that this this should not be the case given my earlier point.
    Take the strikers chosen already in the draft here. Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Kane, Benzema. All world class strikers and there are more left.

    The drop off is considerably more in particular positions and I see GK as one of them in this draft.

    It's not Neuer's ability that makes him a bad pick. Its the fact that you could have gotten him as a second round pick when players like kane, kante, Kdb were definitely not gona be available as a round 2 or 3 pick

    Unless he has gone and got himself banned, I'd say martyos121 should go ahead and pick once the 24 hours are up.
    To be fair GlaDos did float a 12 hour time limit, so 24 hours is time enough.
