Realistically, there will be a lot of outstanding teams at the end of this.

Love that Kimmich pick. Was high up on my list for the exact same reason of being so versatile.

I watch a lot of the German, French and Italian leagues, find it much more enjoyable than the hyped up Premiership.

Yeah Kimmich is a nice pick for the reason he is world class in two positions. Sorry for slight delay in my pick, I've gone for defence over attack early days. I had one or two attacking players in mind but don't want to limit myself to a certain style of play or formation this early in the draft.

Chiellini was likely going to be my next pick if he managed to make it.

He wouldn't have made it past me, great pick imo

My picks for this round were Chiellini, Varane ans Hummels, in that order.

Thought ferris would to for an attacking pick so was disgusted when he picked Chiellini :pac:

Busquets, Bale, Chiellini, Alaba, re-evaluate things... maybe Hummels or Bonucci was as far as making a list went for this round and me! Damn Hive mind!

Edit: Pepe is a great pick aswell and one that has made me learn nobody I think might slip through to the next round will.

yes, this draft is going to be brutal.

every single person I thought had a half-chance of making it through somehow has been taken.

there will be no point in planning!

Yeah Bale a brilliant shout, he was the best attacking player left by a distance. Busquets a world class player that sometimes doesn't get the credit he deserves. Are we definitely doing the extra round near the end of players who didn't qualify for the Euros? Will it be from teams who did not qualify or players who weren't selected or both?

Yeah, should probably get this squared away early. So just any still active player not selected for their Euro squad or whose squad didn't qualify?

I think that sounds good. It would be too narrow of a selection to choose from just players whose countries didn't qualify. Will make my selection now in a few mins, unfortunately I won't be available to post between 8.30 until around this time on weekdays so hopefully it doesn't slow it down too much.

So it's active European players not involved in Euros? Also includes injured players?

Yeah basically any player with a UEFA cap not playing at the Euros for whatever reason is my understanding.

Thiagos a great pick at this stage imo, would have been my midfield pick if I missed Verratti.

I'd have picked him, but I had to look in another area of the pitch.

Was close to picking Cancelo like his versatility.

As we approach round 4, a reminder of the rules for the first special round.

    > Player must have played (called up to a squad) in a previous edition of the Euros.
    > Player must be retired ie fully retired from professional football. Not just retired from international football. Players still active in the likes of MLS or the Middle East are ineligible.
    >Based on total international form. Club form is not applicable here. Achievements in Euros, Wold Cups, Qualifiers etc are what count.

It's absolutely stacked - even being last pick I'm sure I'll have a hard choice to make

Yeah I really struggled with my choice going first, had Cruyff in my head from the start but with so many good defenders gone already I needed to have a rock in defence

i'd have had to complete my midfield if he'd made it to me.

Was debating over 2 players there. Be interesting to see when/if the other goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,966 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    that was impossible.
