How does the virus know if a table has not been prebooked and requires a 2m space?

It's doesn't, but if it were self aware I imagine it would prefer to be in a packed indoor area with minimal space.

    What do you think?

are masks still madantory outdoor at the moment? ill be there in July and while we done it for 3 weeks last Summer and didnt mind, it would be a breath of fresh air (literally) if we didnt need em.

Yes masks are still mandatory even if you are alone on top of a mountain.
Meanwhile tourists from the UK are free to travel to spain without pcr or proof of vaccination from next month - madness...

What difference does the same packed space with prebooked guests versus guests on walk in basis make?

You know who was there if it subsequently turns out someone was in the premises and had covid

What packed space? the space shouldn't be packed, that's what the distance rule is for.

You take their details as soon as they are seated. Simple

My point is that to allow 1m spacing tables must be prebooked but how does making a booking make a difference to the severity of the virus?

Can see this 11pm last orders staying put for the rest of the year

Doesn't matter a feck how many people are vaccinated the government are scared shirtless of a new variant arriving. They don't want to people out drinking all night listening to loud music and dancing

Prebooking is a business management tool used by the establishment.

But I imagine if the place is empty, ring from outside and say you want to pre-book in 2 mins time.

Gavin Reilly said it best in his news report "if people thought hospitality was going to be anyway different this year than last year with over 2.5m doses of the vaccine handed out they were wrong".

Makes me wonder whats the point in the vaccine now.

Here's a mad thought now, hold on for a second, maybe just maybe, by the time July comes we'll have around 70% with 1 dose and by the end of the month of July an higher percentage fully vaccinated. Cases will have reduced down even more than now and we can unwind even more restrictions bit by bit until there's few (masks maybe) to none ... Just a mad thought really

Oh and the indoor hospitality guidelines are subject to review before July, plenty can change in the space of a few weeks.

So because there is management guidelines for hospitality you are now wondering about the point of vaccines?

I hope you weren't wondering long.

We do have some powerful leaders, Getting France, Germany and Austria to restrict travel from the UK because of the Indian Variant.

So we have restrictions to stop the health service becoming overrun, we have vaccines to stop vulnerable people getting sick and dying.

All vulnerable will be vaccinated by the time we get to mid July but we still have silly restrictions like time limits and early closing.

So you tell me what have the vaccines changed?

Thats what i'm hoping for but at the minute it's all if's and buts I'm going on whats coming to light today and for me not much has changed since last year.

The boozer time limit is an easy one to manage simply take the allotted time inside and then go outside for a pint and rebook if you wish to stay there, majority of pubs won't be that packed... it will be a doddle.

More important to see the travel restrictions eased and let us get out of this place to some far off location, where we can go to a restaurant or a pub and sit outside in the sun and relax... Away from idiots harping on about variants and "concerns"...

You dont have to eat food and theres no time limit in pubs or restaurants if the tables are 2m apart.

We had no time limits last year too if seats were 2m apart. 9 euro meal massive strides forward I suppose

Last year some in work just booked back to back time slots and didnt even have to leave.

The time limits aren't a problem for me or early closing its the lack of courage from the government around vaccines we have the same restrictions as last year bar the famous 9 euro meal as has been pointed out, it doesn't fill me with hope for the vaccine.

July is our third time we've rescheduled. Given today's guidelines (no music allowed, bar closed at 11), we'll likely have to move again.

    Complete nightmare.

Any change to what time pubs will be allowed open, or will they narrow that time frame further too?

Any idea where I could see those guidelines?
