I'm just too worn down to feel anything but depressed seeing the Brits get their freedom back.

Meanwhile we have no date. No target. No benchmark. Nothing to say when we can start doing anything. It's like a parent who can't be bothered to say "no" to a child. We'll see, we'll see...

We're at 50 in ICU. The hospitals are quieter than any other winter. How do they "cope" with a few hundred on trollies every year?

Then it's just **** news after **** news with vaccines. Everyone ready for another shipment to be short this month? "Ah sure we missed yet another target but we're totally gonna make up for it next month.

Then you have the obsession with case numbers. I'd have been almost fine with opening the random test centres last year, could have provided some data to be pored over after the whole thing is over. Bit of a waste of money but anyway. Instead they're doing it when case numbers should be becoming almost irrelevant. They can't use the numbers to compare to pre-vaccine availableness because we weren't testing people for the laugh back then.

And then there's the clear seasonality of the virus which people still want to deny and wait for "proof". The window to get the vaccines done and dusted by is mid-to-late summer. Otherwise there would be an actual risk of another wave come October. Looks like we're still gonna be dragging our feet.

**** me it's just a joke at this stage.

And where is our leader tonight ??

Where is Michael Martin, plotting a plan for us to get out of lockdown ?

Giving us a a little Hope, direction.

Silence, as unelected conservative bodies control our fate and risk assessment.

Just going to give you all a look of what's happening in Poland so you can compare.
We've been in a state of lockdown for close to a year as well, reopened for a few months during the summer and then around October everything closed down again.
Numbers are highish but if the government is to be believed here we are all about to die.
We can move around but **** all is open so you may as well not be able to move.
Restaurants going bust almost daily, taxes increasing and inflation is quite painful.
We opened up in February for 2 weeks and the government panicked and closed everything again until April 12th they said.
The last week they said "ah you know what we will open again on April 18th".
Word already now going around that this will go on until May the earliest.
An utter **** show and there are no government hand outs to those that need it, instead they've had scandal after scandal alongside giving a fortune to bands that could no longer play their gigs.
I mean you couldn't make it up.
Masks are discarded everywhere to the point it's unusual not to see them on the floor and you gave hefty fines if you don't wear it in public never mind indoors.
You're essentially discouraged from entering lifts with others and people have become so obsessed that if you're seen without a mask you'd be lucky not to have a remark thrown your way.
Police pretty much around you non stop (in Warsaw anyway) with a hypocritical government that bans you from gatherings but have no issues meeting themselves in public in front of the cameras.
    World is ****e

    Sounds awful.

The exact same authoritarianism happening all across the world and people are dismissed as "conspiracy theorists" for wondering if there's more to all of this than meets the eye.

You have to give it them, the CIA played a blinder when they came up with the term “conspiracy theory”

They really did. Whoever came up with 'anti-vaxxer' came up with a good one. Anyone who doesn't want to take a vaccine is an anti-vaxxer in the eyes of many.

The cult of vaccines. Every single vaccine is infallible in the eyes of some people. They are absolute nut jobs. You wouldn’t get into a car that hadn’t been properly road tested and then given legal immunity by the government or a plane that had only been half safety tested. Why would it be any different with vaccines?

You might have missed the news where we restricted the use of the very same vaccine that allowed the uk to open up beer gardens and shops because 4 in every million people might get a clot. Are you going to address that?

    I know, you're right.

Here's another one that was dismissed as a conspiracy theory (this time by the Canadian Government), but which has now come to pass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDIfFb5z7eQ

I saw the news where a group that isn't nphet recommended restrictions on a vaccine that's also restricted in several other countries including the uk. It's a ****ter.

No epidemiological data suggest Hungary should re-open – virologist
The coronavirus pandemic can be stopped only if everyone is vaccinated against it, old and young alike, said virologist Ernő Duda, associate professor at the University of Szeged. He told daily Népszava on Saturday that in an extreme case the choice will be either you get your COVID-19 shot, go live like a hermit in the woods, or die.

He stressed that "there should be intensive propaganda stressing the pandemic is not over, wear those masks. And those that do not, should be fined. We don't need more stringent measures but the enforcement of existing ones."

In order to enforce this interest, a drastic means may be deployed in an extreme case, for example, making vaccination mandatory.

"Those (who resist) will sooner or later need to make a choice: become hermits in the woods, die out, or get vaccinated."

The political situation is very extreme and we are not the only country with local mad scientists sounding off.

What would the Government/NPHET have to do for you to question them? I'm assuming there is nothing because their perception of authority is all it takes for you to succumb to their every recommendation, irrespective of their stupidity.

Do the 2K travel fines remain even when we’re not at level 5?
Guards still hanging round the airport?

I think there's a difference between a poster saying something negative on an internet page and the government shutting down a big chunk of their vaccination programme because 4 people in a million might get a clot.

It's clearly the variant causing all this trouble with the AZ vaccine. In fact it's like a new vaccine, a vaccine of concern, if you will. MM and the gang are using a fundamental rationale and following the science on this.

This variant loves a loose grip and a timeframe of 1 to 5 weeks. Therefore we must hold firm for 6 weeks.

    It's science after all.

And, sure, what's another few weeks anyway. If we limit our contacts until everyone gets a vaccine (not the concerning vaccines mind you) we can drive this virus from our shores. In the same way St patrick's drove the mastodons from our shores.

Follow the science and we'll be out of level 5 before MM can string a coherent sentence together while keeping his hands down by his sides.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

You have to remember that it's the government that are keeping places closed.

They're not keeping them shut for ****s and giggles though they're doing it because of nphet recommendations. If I took a shot every time glynn made reference to being conservative, cautious etc on claire byrne tonight I'd be blackout drunk.

That is so irresponsible. If I had doubts about vaccine hearing health authorities make these kind of forceful manipulative statements would make me question if they had our best interests at heart. If he is trying to convince everyone to get the vaccines..well he's not doing a good job of allaying any fears or being compassionate at all, it will have the opposite impact.

Friends of mine celebrating life's simple pleasures with a few jars in London this evening, meanwhile Ireland is months behind due to a cowardly government delegating all responsibility to NPHET. Claire Byrne show tonight regaling horror stories of what could happen if people have a few tins outdoors, they should be summarily executed if they don't mutate into cannibalistic zombies first. And that "fourth wave" bolloxology is the latest finger wagging exercise to marshall sheep.
