As for 'BAME' the Sewell report in the UK has recommended discontinuing it's use, since the issues facing BAME are so diverse it has no real use, e.g. Caribbean black kids do worst in school but African black kids do better than white kids.

Good man Mark ! on the nail,as ever. :D

Mind you Dr Sewell's report,is still quite contentious and mired deep now in the Public's Consideration with oddly enough many people having to ask "How many Caucasian's actually are in the UK"

87.1% of the UK's population,it seems, are White or White British.

But it's a debate for a different forum.

Right now,the UK has to address the differing responses to the Pandemic, evident amongst the remaining 12.9% of its population ?

See just because I say it doesnt make it likely in any way to happen (or not).
Doomsday predictions for the UK are complete nonsense. There is no evidence to suggest the UK will have another wave from a new spooky variant. Just sour grapes from yourself

If vaccines don't provide the level of cover they're expected to, we just have to power on and deal with the death. Can't lockdown repeatedly every year because of Covid, it isn't feasible fortunately.

I wonder have the government seriously factored in the likelihood that many adults will simply choose not to accept a vaccine when offered? This carry on with AZ is not helping those sitting on the fence about it. In particular, anybody who is healthy and part of a younger age group I can see being not interested.

My personal opinion is that once the vulnerable and anyone otherwise concerned is vaccinated, then open it all up. You can't hold peoples freedom to ransom if they keep pushing to hit a certain % of the population to be vaccinated.

Can anyone shed any light on when church services will be allowed and what the numbers are rumoured to be? I'm being pushed to organise Holy Communion and would rather wait until non essential retail and hairdressers etc are open. So would think it will in or around the June Bank holiday before these will be open.

No it isn't sour grapes, it's recognition of what could happen given all the messaging about 'variants' from the media.

I *want* the UK out of lockdown and am glad see all the smiling faces.

but my god is it soul destroying watching Sky News....

...at any time in fairness, it's misery.

Dunno why anyone would get annoyed by what's happening in the UK that doesn't affect us though. It's a mess of a place these days.

Surely close to 100% of mass goers are now vaccinated, they should be ‘allowed’ right now.

Well these mass goers are 8 and their parents so doubt it.

I passed a re-opened Sisk site this morning on my walk to work. Four lads standing around outside with masks pulled down under their chins. Not an hour back on the job. Sometimes you have to laugh.

You may have missed the news on this but we are only required to wear masks in indoor public places.

I work on a sisk site, they stand people down for breaking the 2m rule and this is with full mask, glasses and gloves. People sent home the whole time.

Ah look, I know. Glad to see them back in work, I've missed the lovely musical sound of their drilling and whatnot. But it's a bit of a **** look on the first day back. It's not hard to wear a mask properly. Anyway, they gave me a laugh.

The end must be soon - 'solidarity taxes' are being raised. Not from me you utter cockwomble.

Imo with todays news of the AZ blip in the Vaccine rollout we can expect the relaxing of more restrictions will be pushed out further. Not the best of news sadly

    Why?

Only 20% of doses over the quarter are anticipated to be AZ.

While some reorganisation might be necessary I think it's a bit premature to be calling for the pity party.

Anyone waiting for NPHET to give the all clear re restriction lifting, travel or any semblance of normality in the coming months...
NPHET ‘4th wave’ announcement expected tomorrow at Oireachtas committee. This is despite low hospital numbers, ICU patients and deaths. Anyone would think they were trying to manufacture a worst case scenario to make sure their a**es are covered in the event the Government decide to wake up from its induced coma & begin to Govern...

I wonder how long they’ll get out if the double mutant variant type headlines.

Yes.. bloody hell. We're in this because of people not sticking to it.

Just wanted to know a rough time frame that I'll be able to go to Kerry lol

    Wow.

Maybe to be really safe you should stay at home even when the grand holy oracle of NPHET say it's ok ?

I read a thread post online today. Some guy giving out about a few lads outside their (closed for 13 ****íng weeks) place of work not breaching any regulations. But this guy seemed to have bought the bullshít Irish Govt / Media propaganda about dirty builders spreading Covid. They were outside in the open air and all. Sometimes you have to laugh.

That's your choice (and understandable if you've been out of work).

I would actually pay it, as I've had a job the whole time,
and I consider myself lucky compared to a lot of people,
and would be prepared to share a bit of the load.

I've been in around 50 different places working over the last 2 weeks and I'd say 5 of the places had strict rules on masks.

The other places most staff weren't wearing them or only half were.

People have had enough. Supermarkets give an impression most people are adhering to masks etc.

We're all going to have to pay for the clean up one way or the other.
I'd be willing to pay a levy for a couple of years, if it was being used to get people back on their feet. It would benefit everyone in the long run, including me.

Does it include high earning TDS who decided to give themselves a pay rise during the pandemic?
