Suspending AZ here now as well!

That’s all housebound people who were to be vaccinated by the ambulance service in limbo now.

I was just waiting for the call from HSE to say they’d be calling on X date to vaccinate my 82 year old dad :(

What happens if you have already had one shot of AZ?

Ah stop will you! EMA already said it’s nothing out the ordinary in terms of incidence of blood clots within a population!

This could be a batches issue.
The EMA are talking about statistical deviations at a high level. This is about a pattern that is being spotted on the ground and it warrants investigation.

Hopefully there is no causation demonstrated and vaccination can continue in confidence.

I think people need to wait, calmly if possible, to see what NIAC say later.

The reliance on vaccines to get us out of this is really starting to back fire.

We need a multi faceted approach - more investment in track and trace, measurable milestones to reduce restrictions, proper enforcement of major restriction breaches

There could be a major issue with people just not wanting AZ. Nothing can get this much press and not lose people’s faith. Even if research says it’s fine and unrelated people are going to be very suspicious of it.

Agreed, I certainly don’t want it

I was booked in for later today for the AZ vaccine in one of the major hospitals as I fall into the severe risk category. I just received a text to say it is cancelled.

Not surprised funnily enough, I was shocked earlier in the week when they contacted us given it was week one for group 4. Although they sent the actual notification to my husband's phone.

My thoughts exactly, a decent proportion of people are already cautious of the AZ vaccine and this will just increase it.

What I’m struggling with is if there is a problem why isn’t it done on a European level, there either is an issue or there isn’t. Why are countries making their own judgements and coming up with different solutions.

It could be an issue with a specific batch or set of batches

There isn’t an issue, Norway have previous with the Pfizer vaccine!
The likes of Germany and France who’ve been struggling to get people to take any vaccine are in deep shît now to be honest. The end game for Covid is going to happen a lot quicker then we think!
I can see only the most vulnerable and people over 60 getting jabs and places will have to open up. Vaccine hesitantly is going to go through the roof

This is just not good enough. When you put all your eggs in one basket and the basket starts to fall apart.

We're going to be in level 5 until f*cling August.

Have the clotting issues been reported in Ireland or is this just a case of being over cautious?

People will start declining the AZ shot now regardless of facts. Public confidence is key.

AZ vaccine is finished. Can't see it recovering given the amount of bad press it has had and now this on top of it.

We need a strategy rethink mow as it’s becoming clearer vaccines are not the way out of this

Anyone who declines a vaccine needs to be told to get to the back of the queue then. When all the other cohorts are done then they can book in for another vaccine, some time around August/September.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

That might be a worse outcome, if production sites can't be trusted. It is the only vaccine that seems to have run into issues like this, in production.

Vaccines are the only way out of this.

Are you for real? Have you seen the evidence from BioNTech vaccine, and news reports from Israel?? Vaccines are very much the way out of this. Maybe our eggs are just in the wrong basket

Then we need to open up and deal with a higher level of death., It's as simple as that. The damage of restrictions is going to become increasingly more prevalent the longer they keep the country caged up. We cannot do this forever.

Nobody is asking anyone to do this forever. Calm down.
