On the ground it will mean that the pandemic is over in Britain, probably by June.

Life will be returned to normal then. They'll be post Covid, whatever one thinks of the Tans, they are world leaders in immunology, epidemiology and vaccines.

    It's an impressive achievement.

Much of the EU looks like being at risk of growing infection late in to the year, even with restrictions.
This looks more like an emotional response than a factual one. As posters have said they are a great example on how to mobilise mass vaccinations. Push too hard on the rest of your claims and you'll see what an awful shambles they've made. An A for their vaccination programmes but anything from E- to B+ for the rest of it.

    click bait-no supply no vaccines

"Poster disputes article content so makes inane comment about it shocker!"

Why don't you provide the evidence which allowed you to reach this genius insight, so?

I wish it were true but it smells like pure propaganda. The EU Politicians are going to experience a lot of anger as the US and UK steam through their.programmes and we are left here like listening to excuses and spin.
He's the head of our vaccination task force and probably knows more than internet people. It's not a new claim BTW, it's been projected since late last year and most vaccine makers can be trusted.

It’s the right decision. This is how the process is supposed to work. Oversight and caution.

NIAC is to recommend suspension of AZ vaccine following further blood clot reports

The EMA and WHO have said to continue using it! Over reaction more like!

Yeah, that's not a story that makes the one you dislike clickbait. It's a temporary pause on using supplies we have.

I’m sorry now, but each of these blood clot reports need to be examined and ruled out as being caused directly by the vaccine. To not do so would be negligent.

The UK has administered millions of AZ and not a dicky bird from them in terms of blood clots or reactions!
The EU and other ie Norway have damaged the programme by being over reactionary. Norway did something similar with Pfizer vaccine!

There could be a major issue with people just not wanting AZ. Nothing can get this much press and not lose people’s faith. Even if research says it’s fine and unrelated people are going to be very suspicious of it.

Over reaction maybe, but only going to make it harder to convince people to get the vaccine.

Ah stop will you! EMA already said it’s nothing out the ordinary in terms of incidence of blood clots within a population!

AZ seems to turn into a **** show with every passing day.

No smoke without fire as they say. Doesn't instill confidence in the Vaccine at all. Hopefully can be identified as dodgy batch. But even that isn't great for confidence in the manufacturing process.

gonna put off loads from taking it -would ya blame them

Every 47 seconds (or thereabouts) a person in the western world dies from a blood clot. This is ridiculous. So unless all the usual and extra are dying from clots there's no link.
And the media won't ****ing make a big song and dance when it's back to being used in 2 weeks..

Exactly, we’ll struggle to get to the 80% vaccinated at this stage especially if people are unwilling to take the AZ vaccine! Continuing negative reports daily on it has damaged it big time but nobody is giving the real facts. Level 5 indefinitely

Anyone know what will happen for people booked in for AZ vaccine tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Leftwaffe

How many doses of AZ have been administered world wide so far? There’s been about 10 cases of clotting and 10s of millions of doses given out?

Surely this is a non-story. Has to be investigated I know but when the WHO and EMA say to plough on, surely it’s safe to do so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,508 ✭✭✭harr

Need to pull the plug on AZ completely and focus on coming up with a plan to purchase vaccine from elsewhere.
They have been a **** storm from the get go and the EU should have nothing more to do with them even when all this is over.
People won’t be confident now taking it so I can a lot of countries pulling the plug on using it.

It's a precautionary pause. There were a few of these during vaccine clinical trials while they investigated. NIAC are meeting this morning to discuss it so we can probably expect more news later.

True but how many people will be wary of flying on a Boeing 737 Max....

There has been a lot of negative publicity for AZ - will be a hard sell on multiple grounds now.

I'm willing to pretend to be someone and take the AZ vaccine if you know anyone.
