Most likely, but if they don't come back for it it's also the perfect size for an electric bass:D:cool:
And cheap at €30. They've been contacted.

This is why I use revolut virtual card and freeze it. So they cannot actually take money off me until I manually unfreeze card.

Only downside is it may take a day or two longer for the item to arrive.

That's interesting timple, I had not thought of this. Presumably, you wait for AnPost to advise you of the cost and you then unfreeze the card in order to process the delivery? I would have thought that there might be a risk that the goods would be returned by AP, if payment was declined. I have not signed up for the new arrangement due to reservations about credit card details etc.

I have only ordered to home delivery once. But from memory they email you saying there is an error with payment, just like they would email you to see if you were expecting a package and the sender hasn't put the full correct address on it.

For example if you were ordering via addresspal today you could unfreeze your card today, once payment is taken, freeze card again.

With a Brexit EU deal agreed today, does anyone know will we still have to pay Vat/customs duty on UK purchases? Will the virtual address services be back in business soon?

reading articles prob exception for general goods etc, but UK will be outside EU, so customs etc will be in place, as even if goods are tarriff free it will be treated as coming from outside EU, which makes all the virtual services non feasible unless theres some grey area that will be applied.

No one knows yet. It still has to be ratified by the EU Ambassadors. There is a sticky thread already about it, which will be updated as we get more information.

The problem really is the loss of free delivery to the UK.Most UK websites base their charges on British postcodes and load on the charges to the ROI. Do the Irish customs officers really want the job of opening and inspecting every package from Amazon ? Frankly I doubt they have the capacity for what would be a logistical nightmare.
Hopefully the virtual address companies will find a workaround to keep them in business.

id imagine government been preparing for that at least for few years now, that said its clear as is an post cant cope with current loads, which post brexit will be like xmas every day.

as likes of amazon ebay, will declare value, items and youll pay fees in advance so that's not an issue, its your tkmaxx or some other retailers/individuals that simply wont bother with paperwork just to get some 30e item here.

as you state correctly if they go by the current rules, packages would be stuck in customs for weeks, sorting, chasing vat etc on every parcel is beyond any logistical nightmare, as even at normal times it takes week or so for item delivered from US to get moving within Ire, and that would be peanuts compared to how much comes from uk on daily basis.

In reality it's actually €10 as there'll be a €3.50 customs-processing fee applied to all packages, regardless of whether there are customs charges due or not.

I’ve something being delivered to Address Pal in the UK today. Generally, how long does it take to be received from the UK? This is my first time using them.

As far as I am aware, it used to be approx. 4 days from date of delivery to UK address. There is more than likely a backlog to be dealt with at the moment and in all probability will take longer. I have a small package (letter mail A5) in transit somewhere, it was mailed in UK on 19 December, should have been delivered to AP 21 December, but it has not shown up as yet - hopefully tomorrow.

Ah right - I was being overly optimistic that it would ship from them today in order for me to avoid VAT and excise which I’ll probably get hit for.

same, sighh im hoping to not get hit by customs but i doubt they'll come in to Ireland before the 1st January

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭wozniattack

Seems both AddressPal, and AnPost call centres are closed.

Got an email from AddressPal payment couldn't be taken for a package. Website showed two packages, one paid for, one moved to Specials Area.

Called the bank, no issues, no blocks.

I can't get through to AddressPal, or AnPost call centers, it rings, and then cuts you off.
Their webchat is also gone on their site.

Anyone else able to get through to AnPost support?

Right, so I’ve been emailed by Address Pal to say they have my item, charged me €7.49 and my item is currently in Heathrow transit hub as per the An Post tracking. I’m wondering given I have already been charged, will I be charged again once the item enters Ireland? Hopefully it arrives in Ireland tomorrow so I won’t be charged further if this is the case!

Hopefully because it's already been processed by AnPost that's that.

I have a similar package, but one was due 6.49 and somehow payment didn't go through and is in their "Specials Area" now.

I'll likely get slapped on VAT for that one now because it'll be processed after 31 Dec.

Also, I wonder why I was charged €7.49 and not €6.50? The item is only 3kg.

It's still following the old pricing until Jan1st.

One package was 2.93KG charged 7.49.
Second one was 6.49 and somehow they couldn't process the payment. it weighs 0.36kg

Do you know what date your two parcels were delivered to the U.K. hub? I had a parcel delivered on 24th December at 9am for home delivery and still haven’t had the tracking number email yet, I was hoping it would of been processed by now

Three of mine were delivered today, the other two yesterday. All, but one was instantly processed.

A spokesman for An Post said items bought from British sellers before January 1st but not delivered before the transition period ends are likely to be marked as exempt from new charges.

I have just had notification that my package is awaiting collection at the PO. The package was mailed in UK 19th December - I presume the delay was due to volume of mail being processed etc.

Delighted that it has been processed under the current regime as I have not elected for the revised system post January 1st., due to reservations about recording my credit card details online, as stated in an earlier post here.

That's great news. They're working hard I'd say.

All my processed items are already at Heathrow as well, so I'd say they're trying to get as many as possible out in one massive shipment.

So like anyone know how fast they appear in your account once delivered? ?

Still not appearing in my account but I've contacted royal mail and they said Addresspal have signed and delivered as per tracking. Don't want it to be lost in transit

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 kogrady

When was your item delivered in U.K. and was it for home delivery or Post Office collection, because if it’s going to the post office you won’t hear anything until it gets to your nominated post office in Ireland

Delivered first working day after Christmas which was Tuesday 29th December

Home delivery to avoid any problems

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 kogrady

I had one delivered 24th December (also for home delivery) and they didn’t process it as yet
Was your APW number definitely written on the address as if not that can cause delays

    Yeah APW number is there
So I'm guessing they are clearing out the first ones in so many delays. Hopefully will be updated soon

Anyone hazard a guess how addresspal may work with items from China, eg package from China to UK valued at 18USD, passes UK customs fine and then forwards to addresspal.

From here is it then 21% of the value (18USD) plus €6.50 delivery + €3.50 clearance or am I missing out on something?

I don't think there will be vat or customs on that price.

Below 22 euro no vat or customs
Above 22 euro but below 150 will be just VAT
Above 150 euro will have both VAT and Customs

Wouldn't you try to get Chinese items delivered direct to Ireland ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,384 ✭✭✭5500

Generally yes, but in the past found it much quicker to use PM or PW and forward on from there rather than direct to ireland, also found royal mail to be a bit more laxed with packages with regard to vat than direct

Has anyone ever had An Post/Addresspal email them to say there is an issue with their card? My order arrived into their US hub on the 28th , Addresspal couldnt process my card for the postage and to check my card details were correct and that they would attempt again in a couple days. Everything is fine with my card. Just after getting the same email from them again. Using my card to buy online and withdraw at atms theres no issues there. Whats the best way to contact them on this?

Had this with two cards- both Mastercards. A Visa card worked fine.
Have two items on their way to the US hub (by Fed ex) which should arrive there tomorrow/Wednesday- will give you an update on how they go. Its second hand spare parts for laptop repairs. No idea if the seller put an invoice with the parts- I should be safe from customs but definitely will be paying VAT on it.

Also had a package (food ingredients) arrive at the UK hub today- roughly 14kg of food ingredients. No idea whether I'm going to end up in purgatory with the new Brexit document regime or what the hell is going to happen. Only reason I even ordered them in the UK- was because of the stupid shipping fees from France. Hopefully shipping costs from the continent come back down to reasonable levels........ Will let folk know what happens with this.

I'm putting a lot of faith in An Post here- hopefully they do not disappoint me.

Mine is a visa. Double checked everything with it and all fine so very strange. Received an email reply (not sure if auto generated or personalised, hard to tell) from the an post addresspal support. And of course they answered every question under the sun I didnt even ask and also reminded me that customers are never notified when their orders arrive at hubs. Hello, the initial email I received clearly stated that mine had in fact arrived at hub but couldnt be processed any further without postage payment.

Has anyone had any success retrieving 'lost' parcels from Hatfield by contacting AirBusiness directly? I've had two parcels go missing week after black Friday. Given one is horse feed it wouldn't be too lucrative to steal.... AnPost emails as quiet as a mouse unsurprisingly.

Nope, I've had a parcel missing since November 20th, and every time I contact them I get "we're trying to locate your package" ages aftewards. It's apparently been escalated (but I don't believe that). AirBusiness rarely responds on Twitter. An Post offer to highlight the issue, but can't really do much but send an email, same as the rest of us. Phoning the helpline isn't hugely useful either.

Gosh, is it something valuable? One of the parcels I know should be labelled perfectly, as I order from there often. I see AirBusiness have a UK number, I'll try phone that tomorrow. I actually sent an email to their head of customer services too to try get it escalated so I'll post an update if she gets back to me.
I am just bypassing An Post, like you said, they can only do so much. I doubt the issue lies with them.

Is there a delay on the US side? Had a US item confirmed delivered on the 27th, but but update from AP yet.
