Havana 7 year for €23.60 is good but if like me you prefer the 3 year it’s slightly cheaper in O’Briens at €23

I think the Havana 7 is €32, it is the Havana Anejo Especial which is €23 - I prefer that over the 3 but they are all fantastic rums.
    Similar discounts in Tesco.

    They're 12 for €14.75 in Dunnes I think, so €29.50 for 24.

To get the equivalent value per ml vs 470ml pack
    470/500 = 0.94
    €29.50 * 0.94 = €27.73

So 24 of the 500ml cans are an extra €3.73, when comparing like for like, which is very little over a whole slab, if the larger head is important.

I got the 12 Beamish for €15 in Lidl myself.

you forgot to knock off the voucher!!

What’s the difference between the Havana club 3 year old & havana Club Anejo Especial

The 3 year old is a light white rum. Good as base for Mojito.

The Anejo especial is a golden / amber rum, longer aging than the 3 and deeper flavour of molasses. Good in a dark and stormy or a more concentrated cocktail.

Both work in a cuba libre.

Agree 100pc. 500ml cans you'd get the odd flat one. 470mls are a shambles every - single - time.

I tend to agree and have replenished my 470's with proper 12 packs of 500ml.

I found the best way to get a decent head on the 470ml cans was to:-
    1. Ensure nice and cold
    2. Turn upside-down, squeeze can a few times, listen for the air going in/out of cheapo inferior fixed widget at the base of can.
    3. Turn right side up and open
    4. Wait a few seconds for a bit of a surge - if you are lucky a little froth will come out of the can (reminiscent of the "proper 12" 500ml cans)
    5. Pour in one go.

With the 470ml can of Guinness you have to pour it fast as it settles straight away and drink it fast, cant enjoy it really.

Just go for the 500ml Guinness nice and cold from the fridge and put your Guinness glass in there aswell 5 or 10mins before drinking so the glass is a bit cold aswell.

    Drink and enjoy.

Can you get Murphy's anywhere ?

Murphy’s is increasingly hard to get in Dublin anyway, presumably it’s still widely available in cork.

Based on the can it’s brewed in Scotland now.

It never seems to be discounted like as if they treat it as some niche drink. Is the best of the three big Irish stouts IMO.

I’ve gotten it in both Tesco and Molloys recently. Far better than Guinness in a can. That includes the 500ml Guinness btw.

That said its hard to justify the significantly higher price tag when looking at the two side by side on the shelf.

If they have the Midleton Pot Still set for €30, that's probably better value as it includes 50ml Barry Crocket (full bottle is over €200).
