Not sure where to post so I'll put it here. I want to buy a new corded angle grinder. The Makita is 98 and packed it in. Is there any particular brand people would suggest?

Have Makita's here big/small and find them good. Have ordered from Caulfields in Galway a few times, usually very quick on delivery too.

There's a place in roscommon town, near the mart, think it's called Clarke's. Good value there.

Caulfield are dear. Use them in work only because they are setup as a supplier.

I've a 4" Makita and 9"Hitachi; can't fault either of them. There's good deals to be had on 4" & 9" Hikoki Bundle that I'd consider.

That's good value. Think I'll just buy off them

Would disagree, bought same early in the year for less than 150 inc delivery and vat, the vat and delivery on that will bring to 170 very quickly

Makita are not what they once were, they are heavy, the guards on them are ****e, and they can't take any abuse as they once could, far better grinders out there today.
Bosch, Milwaukee, Hitachi/Hikoki would be my preferance and in that order too.

Look for one with a quick release nut, i have one on my Milwaukee i can change a disk in 3 seconds and i never have to go looking for a spanner to loosen the nut.

Edit: Just to add, cordless grinders are the cat's meaow, unless you're going to be using it for a few hours every day of the week i would at least consider them.

Its 136 including vat and 5.85 delivery so just under 143 euro for the deal on everyday welding supplies

+1 on quick release nut. You can buy them on their own from screwfix

It's not justifiable anymore when your talking 110k plus for a medium spec 160hp tractor, put a couple of thousand hours on it and you'll be lucky to get 50k for it, and the kicker will be its replacement will be gone up to 130k plus in the meantime, contractors locally here are just picking up really fresh low houred down in the years tractors 14/15 plates now instead of going new

Maybe?though i doubt it unless you believe they were cheaper in the last 5years. Countries being awash with new tractors this last number of years. Lads in this country are cracked when it comes to machinery and something abit dear doesn't seem to stop em.

Bit like the lads who like expensive cattle and vintage stuff

Garages back to serving you parts at the door with level 5? i hope not.cannot see why one person in store or whatever premises size would allow with distancing wouldn't work safely.

Good weather last time round outside service wasn't much issue. now it's a different story

You just have to wonder will the prices just cap out at some point or is it just going to stay going up, several years ago I remember the prices being ridiculous and thinking they can't get anymore expensive, and then dealers blaming it on emission control, don't think they can play that card anymore..

Not really as the prices are seriously high now. Some lads might still buy but majority of people will say no thanks. Second hand machines will dry up then or become even more expensive

Swapped a 16 t6140 with loader here in the spring with 4600 hours for a 15 puma 160 with 2300 hours and new front links and pto for 15k, new holland cost around 11 euro a hour all in for repayments/repairs/depreciation etc, priced swapping same tractor for a 19 plate t6145 ex demo with loader 400 hours and was looking at having to give 40k to change, which worked out at over 20 euro a hour all in, which was crazy

Looking to do something similar here ,just need a bigger tractor.Everyone talks about hp but weight is nearly as important. Its funny how diggers are sold by weight not hp.i would contend that tractor s between 5 and 10 k hrs give the best value between capital cost and repair

Coyle in athy is bringing in alot of very fresh big nh/case tractors and hasn't mad money on them he's about 10k cheaper I'd say then what you would be paying a main dealer for equivalent tractors

Can't think of any other tractor drawn ones, unless Kane, perhaps?
Jeep drawn, you could add Hamilton and Porter, and while no longer manufactured, Darragh Boats built trailers for a few years.
