Biden is looking increasingly lost and confused up there. It would be the decent thing to do for the Democrats to have a word with him and have him step aside. He's an alright guy and deserves better than being made look so pathetic infront of the camera.

I fear for him come the debates.

have they not just tried that one? they seemed surprised that biden was actually well prepared for his town hall versus trump who was a mess. trump wont be able to handle Biden without his whooping and hollering base in front of him.

Trump and his goons tried to paint Biden as senile and drooling in his basement.

Which is, of course, and acceptance that Trump had preformed terribly and thus they are looking for an excuse.

Its a pretty poor showing when even one of his biggest supporters, both Fix and Ingraham, can't even big up his performance but have to find ways to mitigate why it was so terrible.

To be fair to Trump, there is simply no way he could have seen questions about Covid and healthcare being brought up!

On the balance of probabilities at the debates between Trump making a complete embarrassing show of himself versus Biden drooling like a senile dotard on stage, the former is much more likely.

If Biden doesn't acquit himself well in the debates then he'll only have himself to blame. He has about a zillion idiotic things that Trump has done to call upon. He just needs to avoid getting into an argument, stick to the facts, and let Trump make an absolute buffoon of himself, which is inevitable in itself.

I said this earlier in the thread, or maybe in the previous thread.

All the efforts to paint Biden as suffering serious 'cognitive decline' (or whatever the phrase is that has been parroted endlessly on here) may well come back to haunt them if he does even a reasonable job at the debates.

One thing I have noticed, is the lack of energy with Trump. At least my memory says that in 2016 Trump was boundless energy, feeding off the crowds. He was clearly enjoying himself, although tbf he had little on the line back then. Nobody expected him to win.

Is it that not only is he tired but that people are as well? He has basically never stopped campaigning, holding his first election rally only a few months after being elected. But he doesn't seem to have anything to say. His speeches increasingly, although to some extent they always did, contain rambling sections that seem of no consequence to anyone. Talking about sharks, how people treat him different now he is POTUS etc.

Also, let's be clear: this is the WORST economy in recorded history, the WORST pandemic since 1918 (when there was only limited public health and treatment options, certainly nothing like vaccines), an ever weakening international position, global disdain for the #IMPOTUS, oh and the fact that he was impeached. People know people who've died from Covid, who are out of work living day to day, who wait on enormous food bank lines. The endless stream of corruption has to have worn some supporters out. Plus a lot of his base is elderly, and Covid-19's hit them particularly hard.

All attributable to the #IMPOTUS's grotesque mishandling of the pandemic.

The bloom's off the rose. All the tGOP has left is abortion, to a lesser extent guns, and in the grand scheme that's only exciting for a subset of their voters. And the NRA are apparently in their death throes, being supplanted by less 'mainstream' gun rights groups. So, guns aren't as useful as an organized way to get out the votes.

Like all bad comedians, the #IMPOTUS's shtick has gotten old and people are tired of it.

Thye weird thing is, Biden is actually quite an easy target, particularly if they go after his policy positions. The problem for Trump, and thus his supporters, is that Trump is actually even worse and as such the only real line of attack can be personal. But in any normal election Biden would be struggling as he hasn't been able, IMO, to lay out a clear policy agenda.

Ther is little talk about how he would actually deal with the major issues facing the US. Healthcare he is strong on because of ObamaCare, but even Democrats and I would propose even Obama, would accept that it can be better. What about climate change, the loss of manufacturing jobs, not just to China and other countries but automation etc. How will be deal with a divided or even outright senate? What about the democratic deficit in the country. What about the Electoral college? Infrastructure, the need to reduce the spend on the military, gun control, gerrymandering, corruption, lack of job security, rental security, social welfare. Education, access to college, reducing third level fees, student debt.

There are so many issues facing the US, but there seems so little actual discussion of them, or how to deal with them.

It suits both parties not to discuss policy matters. This is supported by a media which is bored by policy matters.

This US Election is as usual dominated by culture identity rubbish and analysis of countless opinion polls. And other rubbish about what colour tie they are wearing.

Of course the death of an elderly judge is the prize for both parties. Anything bar discuss matters that actually affect people.
