I just hope that all these people that think the pubs should stay closed will be the ones that will never darken the door of them when they do open

They will probably the first to burst the door in looking for Gargle!

jesus christ shut up ,everyone is bored with your copy and paste job by now

You can deflect, and make excuses all day and all week, pretend said virus does not exist, and not give a damn for others who are at risk, but it wont change the facts that you are crying on the internet over not being able to get drunk and/or socialize during a global pandemic.

you wont change those facts, and having a go at the poster wont alter the truth of the post.

The way you and other cry constantly how the pub is closed makes me wonder are ye all publicans, because why it is personally so important to ye, that ye think ye are immune to a virus

Ok. You don't believe pubs should reopen. I understand and respect that viewpoint, although I don't necessarily agree.

But I think you need to take a step back. You seem to be getting far too personal in your responses.

Indeed, sort of sums up what takes priority in life.

The days of the pub being the epi-centre of Irish social life was already long dying well before the covid. It was no surprise countless pubs were shutting up shop over recent years, and as mentioned on here warlier some pubs can use the lockdown towards a reason to stay shut

I miss the pub, miss the criac and socializing, but its something we have to do, and yes I have an issue with people who think screw the covid the need for a pint matters more.

I dont think they should open yet.

dont think the schools should be going back yet either, or the pubs that are open selling food either.

All I think is that we have waited this long, lets not waste all that time by rushing back, lets be sure before we go back. Contrary to what some chose to believe, I miss the way things were also., but lets be sure and avoid a second wave as bad as the first. surely that is not an unwelcome thought. ?

As for being personal, did you decide to ignore how people were personal to me, or did you skip over that.

Not a single person on here can give a single reason why they feel they should be in the pub, other that the need for socializing , and that can be done in the pubs already open.

So how long do we keep schools closed for. How long long pubs. When do you think its safe to open them.

If the answer is until we reach a sustained period of zero Covid cases then neither will be opening for a long time

They'll open sometime between Friday 18th and Monday 20th September if things don't go belly up with the schools imo.

I think the government screwed up in so many ways, the airports etc should have been shut the moment it started, and I know some people may be sick about reading about New Zealand but they took the right approach.

Its not like as a nation we have to be self sufficient, as we were during the war, we can still trade and things are a lot better, but as said we come this far, all I think its better not to rush the last bit, and render all the previous work for nothing.

I am all too aware of how covid affects people, after burying my mum less than 2 months ago, and the church then limited to a handful of people, this period has not been easy on anyone, so again I ask what is the need for so many to go to the pub and act like it is the centre of the universe or some god given right ?

It is not a essential task, nor a priority

Obvious troll is obvious at this stage.

ah...so because you cannot argue the merit of my post, your only response is to label some one a troll.

anybody who puts others ahead of a pub must therefore be a troll ?
    That is some logic.

Sure we'll just sort something out with the NI Executive. Its well known how keen the Unionists are on All Ireland approaches and strategies to issues affecting all people of the island

    What a retarded response.

I'm just pointing out that my local pub is open and i'm going to a different pub on Saturday, one that is also open.

No need for the abuse and completely inappropriate use of language.

It is true, any pub that wants to open can open as there is ways around the new rule.

Alot of pubs I know are open and never served food, now they get take away if they have to.

    Exactly.

All this hysteria is nonsense. The pubs are open. This Saturday I will be in the pub, having a nice bit of grub and a few pints and all will be right with the world. Looking forward to a lovely Guinness.

nonsense me hole 30k people are out of work

    Why is this?

As far as I can see, pubs can open. All of the pubs in the area I live in are open. It's pretty clear that any pub that wishes to open can do so.

As I said, I was in the pub the other night myself. Not a bother! Tasty Guinness!

alot of pubs are too small for social distancing measures that are required , or alot cannot team up with a food reseller for the covid killer meal

alot of pubs are too small for social distancing measures that are required

Hang on, how many pubs are so small that groups can't be 2 metres apart? 30 thousand employees worth?

    I don't buy it!
or alot cannot team up with a food reseller for the covid killer meal

30k people's worth? Again, not buying it! And you don't believe this either.

My local serves cold ham and chesse platter. That's it. No need to team up with anyone. Most don't order it but just in case

Not financially viable to the tune of 30k out of work? Is this what you're saying?

Seems to be plenty viable for everyone else. Seems to be viable for the pubs around here and the others i've been to.

You're just plucking things from the sky. "Too small". Laughable! These tiny pubs must be employing 100 people each considering you're attributing 30k out of work to pubs being too small!

"Can't team up with a food reseller". Codswallop!

Once again, the pubs are open. Want a pint? Go have one! They're delicious.
