That is precisely what you stated with your line "Today its masks tomorrow its Gardaí entering your house" that one leads on from the other.

I dont know. That sentence doesnt imply to me that one thing is a precondition or a preparation of the other. It was more meant like there is an escalation happening. Which there clearly is.

If there is an escalation happening then that is one thing leading to another, or one thing being a precondition of another, or one measure prepares for the other, or a conspiracy, or... or....

If you are trying not to say that there is a conspiracy then you need to try harder to not suggest there is a conspiracy.

Maybe so. I guess you could read it that way.

Doesnt matter. Semantics. For the record I am not claiming any kind of conspiracy. Just saying political and social dynamics all going arseways.

But a moment ago you were claiming that the wearing of a mask was so that in the future the Gardi could come along and start breaking into our houses without first having a good reason to do so? What's that if not a claim of a conspiracy?

    Wasting.. your.. time..

Yes, but we have to respond to prevent others getting taken in by the madness as well.

There seems to be many others willing to come to the same bonkers conclusions all by themselves. An alarming amount. At least on twitter they have the courtesy to ID themselves with a tricolour beside their profile name.

And I thought we were getting somewhere a moment ago with you acknowledging that there is no conspiracy to try to get everyone to wear masks?

Just because there is no conspiracy doesn't mean everything's alright. ;)

"Dr." Marcus DeBrun is a moron conspiracy theorist. His opinions carry about as much weight as Jim Corr's in my mind.

Also claims on the one hand that masks don't work and on another hand that they stop the healthy from being infected (oh I wonder how they could do that when they "don't work"???) which means no "lovely natural" herd immunity and means we'll have to take the "evil vacceeeens".

Basically an anti-vaxxer spreading false information that masks don't work when his real fear is that they work all too well.

    What’s with the “dr”?? He’s a doctor.

Everyone wearing a helmet in their car whilst driving on urban streets would likely cause more risk of injury to the rest of the public on the street as will reduce field of vision and less easy for people to turn their heads to look around. You'd need to make a better case for helmets to be worn in cars as standard. Seatbelts and airbags do more to reduce injury, whilst also not impairing ability in anyway.

Wearing a helmet in a racing cars, open cockpit or closed, makes sense as far as limiting the risk of injury to the driver. They are all driving forwards, in the same direction, at similar speeds, nobody is coming at them from side road and there is no kids screaming at them from the back seat... but the risk of extreme injury is significantly higher for the driver than crashes driving at 30mph around the streets.

Motorbikes drive on urban streets. They wear helmets. It’s what wing mirror and rear view mirrors are for.

They also don't wear seat belts or sit in comfy armchairs with roofs.

Or do you think they amble in for a cup of tea whenever they like?

They’ll use x-ray specs to see how many people are in your house? Or how will they know??

Borrow someone's motorbike helmet and sit in a car and let us know how much of what is going on to the side you can see, or turn around to check what's behind you when reversing. Just try turning you head whilst sat in the car even.

The attached isn’t going to affect your field of vision. The visor could even be removed.

Indeed. Big Gubberment conspiracy theorists: They're building a database of facial recognition so they can track you!! Also Big Gubberment conspiracy theorists: Masks that cover your face are part of the plan of The Man.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

In fairness they don't need to build a database with everyones face, people are only too eager to upload and tag photos of themselves on social media. I would agree that part is absolute nonsense, if the government wanted to implement it they could just call up facebook/google and viola.

Do you find yourself frequently come to the attention of Gardai
    ?

I don't agree with the guy on anti-masks or whatever but christ you've made a shocking argument there.

Meh. The conspiracy that guards will just be randomly popping into totally random houses doesn't exactly need a decent argument to refute it.

If you dont want a visit, dont break the restrictions. Not rocket science tbh.

It's simple, no x-ray specs needed, cuz people are thick and they'll park their cars in front of the house. Or they'll pack up in the garden. There are no geniuses attending house parties, you could probably count their IQ on your fingers.

Edit: Problem is that we'll all pay at the end, for stupidity of some clowns who refuse to follow the basics how to avoid infection. They'll happily keep spreading their stupidity around and get audience to listen.

Didn't say anything of the sort. ^

Don't get so caught up on it, some people are skeptical of the virus, others aren't. Surprise surprise. Everyone has their own opinions and thoughts.

Stop trying to patronize me just because you disagree with mine. :pac:

Perfectly okay for someone to question the validity of a virus that has not even killed a percentage of our population yet the whole world was almost on lockdown.

If only there was some tangible correlation between the 'lack of deaths' and lockdown.. I wonder what could it be

that's a moot point, I already showed images of proposed motorist helmets in my previous post

    Here is another commercial one.

If you still think they are an issue for the driver then do you see any issue for the passengers?

Could also wear one of them fireproof overalls like the F1 drivers have.

How did a thread about masks during a pandemic descend into arguments about wearing helmets in a car?

One is necessary to protect other people and yourself (if recent research is accurate) from airborne contagion and the other is an optional extra for an individual motorist to perhaps protect themselves.

I can choose not to drive or travel (albeit with extreme difficulty) but I cannot choose not to breathe. Your breath and emissions become mine, whether I want them or not.

If masks are an effective tool can someone answer this question?

Why have covid cases gone up since masks became a requirement on public transport and in shops? That would suggest either a) masks are completely useless in stopping the spread or b) masks actually contribute in the spread of cv19.

More people out and about and not adhering to advice, Young people acting like nothing's changed or people like yourself either not wearing a mask or wearing them on their chin
