Perhaps, but its a nice indication of the actual core issue here. Its like herding cats, every Tom, Dick and Harry has an opinion.

The LC debacle for example. The government had a plan but were kinda left hanging out to dry by other stakeholders, so the chickened out of it and now students and teachers are in a worse position, but that is what one gets for being a fence sitter.

By other stakeholders I assume you mean some students and parents (fueled by some media personalities). Teachers and unions wanted the exams to go ahead.

FG has nothing to do with this but again, it's convenient to try and wedge a political party divide into this debate. I am asking genuine questions about the lack of leadership in our education system and it seems to be irking some and it may be close to the bone of truth.

What kind of decisions can these imaginary leaders in education take.
If you knew anything about education, the decisions come from the department of education. What are YOUR leaders doing ?

There is money of course, but there are clearly no competent professionals in the organisation to procure and manage it properly. And everybody is "banging on" about it.

    What's with the tone?

    What tone?

I gave you a link and said there are more online if you are so inclined to go look for them. Not quite sure what you are on about.

Well teachers didn't want to grade their own students. It was a vocal minority of students who got what they wanted, assisted by the likes of Ciara Kelly who mouthed off at every chance.
Once that was achieved she then wanted schools fully back two weeks later. The likes of her talk out of both sides of their ar$e at the same time.

FFS come off it, we are in the middle of a global pandemic and the fashion decisions of a 9-year-old should not decide the best way forward when it comes to making a decision.

Sometimes, I pity the DoE when these are the submissions and suggestions they would be getting.

Mark im just saying if there are no uniforms I am going to have to spend a lot more on clothes for my kids than if I just had to buy uniforms for school wear- I think every parent would agree on this. I don't think you understand that some children are choosy on what they wear. I cant see any good reason for this decision not to have uniforms other than schools knowing that there will in fact be no school opened ( therefore its pointless parents buying uniforms for the oncoming year)

I am not being smart but do they not have clothes already that they could wear ?

If there is no uniform parents should just buy non crested jumpers and bottoms from Dunnes or wherever and let the kids wear them every day. That's what I'll be doing anyway.

Of course they do. But Im going to need more clothes if they are not wearing there uniform to school. Usually I wouldn't need ordinary clothes for them for week days. Usually I would only buy clothes for weekends - dresses etc. These wouldn't be suitable for school though. General clothes are more expensive than uniforms for primary school.

Fwiw, in my experience, school uniforms are a LOT cheaper than children's clothes

Yes and those clothes get worn out and have to be replaced. Uniforms are horrible but last for ages, was well etc. They're way cheaper in the long run than anything else on the market.

All the same, I'm sure that many students, whether or not they were prepared to sit exams in July and August, were relieved that the exams were called off.

Not under discussion. We have people saying that teachers wanted exams called off blah blah blah.

Will Students and Teachers need to self-isolate for 14 days and not go to school if they go on abroad in the 2nd half of August ? Or mid-Term etc.

Yes. DPER issued clarification on this on Tuesday. I received it as an instruction from ETB today.

Not if the country is on the Green List.

Well that is not what I received this morning, but perhaps it will be updated when Green List is released. The only exception given was Northern Ireland.

Education questions being posed on Oireachtas tv at the moment.

Plan is still for a full reopening at the end of August.

Primary guidelines have issued according to Foley.

The government will be funding the schools.

Better to prioritise giving future generations an education than opening the pubs and putting us all at risk again. Keep the pubs closed.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Because only 30% of teachers drink in school.

If those are the guidelines that we have to work with then it is going to be a total sh!t show. There are barely any bones never mind any meat on them. As suspected it looks like it will be left up to us at local level to try and out things in place.

If she is saying that guidelines have been issued then I'm guessing it was those health ones from a few weeks back that made vague references to pods and bubbles but with zero actual information.

The gossip and affairs will stop so with the reduction in wine drinking 😜

Have issued? When? Where? The only remotely close document I can find is the interim guidelines?

I'm guessing she is referring to those. Looks like she is totally in over her head with all of this.

Always said it would be left up to local arrangements. Will put schools against schools and God help the one that starts a cluster as they are going to be crucified.
