By anyone's standards that was cringe for Thomas...

It's never 'by anyone's standards' though. Online commentary on these debates is always along tribal lines...

This was just more example of why SF aren’t in government. Lots of bluster and attacks, no actual substance.

There's nothing in what's being proposed by the coalition government that looks like a firm commitment to tackle the issues that gave rise to SF swell in support. There's a few vague rebrandings of preexisting commitments e.g commitment to tackle insurance fraud. Leaving out SF unless these parties make a commitment to tackle the real big issues housing and health they'll be wiped out in a comprehensive fashion next time.

A complete and utter spoofer - as well as being so congenitally stupid that he thought he was a civil engineer until it was gently pointed out to him that he hadn't finished the course!

Pearse isn’t the worst of the Shinnera by the admittedly low standards you’d expect from SF.

He’s not a clever man though.

Sinn Fein, well done for leveling the playing field, but you forgot to tog out and play on the field.

We know this country is too full of those who think they should be let run the country unhindered and that opposition is a waste of time (unless it is them gamboling off into it like spring lambs to 'enjoy' it :))

Ignore away, you clearly are able for debate.

Quoted you before you rectified your blooper!

Francie, you are the weakest link; goodbye.

The Greens are a bigger shambles already.

No chance will they get 2/3 majority.

Imagine what you must think of Eoghan Murphy (8th count) or Simon Harris (15th count lol) two of the worst most incompetent lumps in memory. Their only ability is being too thick to quit.

Dont know where the money will come for this programme.

Sinn fein are always ridiculed for the magic money tree. I see worse spoofery here just as we are about to enter a recession.

Its actually shocking when you look at it. All economic indicators pointing towards a deep recession and we are being promised

    -NBP 3bn
    -NCH -2bn and rising
    -Metrolink 4bn and rising
-10,000 social houses built by the private sector- easily 3bn
-End of direct provision so now 4,000 people needing their rent paid in private apartments, easily 350 million over 5 years.

And not a tax increase in sight while we have hundreds of thousands unemployed and businesses crashing to the wall. No suggestion that social welfare will be cut either so that bill remains at around 20 billion.

This is fantasy economics from FFGG. They must have had the seeds to that magic money tree all along.

Harris couldn't quit as there wasn't anyone appointed to take his place.

  • At least the decades long FG vs. FF political theatre is officially over.

Am I reading this right- carbon levy to be introduced on electricity- alongside the PSO- going forwards, initially at EUR46 per tonne of carbon, estimated to add roughly EUR230-240 per annum to domestic electricity bills?

Thats shocking if true. Tens of thousands of old age pensioners living in freezing cold houses have no choice but to heat them. Spending 100k+ on a retrofit is not an option for them or even for most people.

Yet the Greens just slap a tax on them anyway. If those increases go through there will be war this coming winter from pensioners when their bills land. Not just pensioners either, theres lots of people struggling with fuel poverty in Ireland. Green policy is going to make them choose between heat or food.

Do FF and FG voters still actually think there is a difference between the two parties?

    Ahh touched a nerve?

They could be on 1 millionth count for all it matters :-)

I really hope Paschal Donohoe is kept on as finance minister. His abilities will be badly needed in the next few years.

The fall for FG when it comes will be all the more spectacular.

Surely you mean the next one? Polls aside they had their arse handed to them.

That was the first point P. Doherty scored tonight...laughed Thomas out of it. It's just mindblowing that either FG or FF memberships will go for this...the pain they must know they will endure when this programme is ripped up like the manifesto's is clear for all to see.
It's will be a question of who gets decimated the most.

One of them is in most probably going to be government, the other is going to continue to be the waste of space he always was....that’s the only “point” that count. So well done Thomas, he shoots he scores

SF blowing as usual and hiding once the big decision have to be made.

Or someone with a proven track record in the finance industry.

It amazes me people forget where this country was when FG came into power, they got us to full employment, reduced our national debt to manageble levels and got the IMF off our backs. Yet you and your ilk still moan.

All rage and bluster but nothing meaningful to contribute.. reminds me of a certain party.

The PfG as pointed out is not a decision...it frim fannery that will be torn up as soon as the new Taoiseach gets back from the Aras. If that even happens.
