How are people getting on to him for not being prepared enough? Thought he spoke well and has spoken well for the sake of our country.

I thought his delivery was dreadful. It had the real coached-by-RTE look, pauses in all the wrong places, wooden hand gestures for the sake of it, etc. I'd rather see him just grab the sides of the lectern or stick his hands in his pockets, anything that would help him come across as more natural. No real problem with the content, except that the stilted delivery made it seem like Rachel worrying about her grandmother et al came from the same place has Enda Kenny's Two-Pint Man. I don't believe that's true, just illustrating how poor delivery can bugger up something that could be quite powerful.

No mention of it but not very long I’d imagine.

Leo said he hopes it(the €350 payment) can be extended in line with the extension of restrictions but he sounded desperately unsure and pointed out they can only offer it for so much longer, the magic bottomless pit must be running dry.

He was very shaky on the late late. So unsure about so many things, referring to Tony holohon like someone would refer to their strict father.

Passing the buck plenty, suggesting he's using Europe as a guinea pig, cowardly waiting and seeing rather than making actual decisions.

    Hugely uninspiring stuff.

I and most reasonable people see it differently. Mainly young men, working in isolation, getting on with it, working hard, no danger to anyone. Not sitting on their holes collecting €350 a week.

You are a danger if you are working close promixy to other people. That's how the virus can spread. Dont be so naive with a nonsense statement like that.

No the current restrictions apply because they dont have testing numbers in place. Did you see the guy reading from a crumpled up piece of paper on television like Mike Basset with his team selection on a box of fags

What I've seen is someone who is in charge, very human, down to earth and very realistic about what's going on...very much unlike a random poster on internet who doesn't have a clue if you know what I mean :pac:

Sorry, as I understand it, the 2 week self isolation when coming from.abroad still applies. Is that not the case?
They should isolate for 14 days but it's not monitored so no one knows if you are or not.

You keep criticising him and yet you still haven't come up with a better plan.

You might give it a rest and think maybe these people who are working so hard are exhausted at this stage

I got undertones of something he was withholding . I've a feeling the Covid payment will be cut, along with any public sector not at work. He needs to save cash any way he can.
Also the jokes about the barber with tony was puke inducing

I'm suffering big time mentally now. Like everyone else I haven't seen my family or friends in over 7 weeks. I haven't seen my boyfriend in that long either.
I've tried to stay optimistic up to now but the part that's really killing me is there is no mention in the plan on when we can stop socially distancing from loved ones.
I wouldn't risk going into my parents house until I'm sure they would be safe but am I supposed to stay 2 metres away from my other half for the foreseeable future?
I suffer long term for depression and anxiety and I'm not alone in that, many people are the same. I know it can't be helped but this lock down is going to be the end of some people in a different way to covid. It's just about impossible to keep my spirits up at this stage.

I'm in the same situation, it's horrible and heartbreaking tbh. I hope you will be ok and we get to see our partners soon.

I would prefer the restrictions to last a few weeks too
Long than them to be stopped too early. All you need to do is fill in a form and your mortgage will be put on hold if you are not working or your business is shut down. The restrictions. Will be gradually eased. Eg it will be months
Before pubs or cafes will be opened and even then they
will have to space out the seats
I think some pubs and small cafes will go out of business
I think hardware stores and building sites will open after the 18th.
Right now 60 per cent of private hospital beds are empty
The government made mistakes but compared with America they did ok. There's over 1million covid cases in America and some states are opening some shops and
Hair salons. America is maybe the richest country in the world and medical staff are running out of
Ppe gear. No one is in charge. The only leadership they have is the state governors. I think company's in Ireland
Will allow people to work from home until there is widespread testing of anyone who wants to be tested
and the test results are avaidable within 24 hours

Listen Snugglebunnies, you go and do what you need to do to see your partner.
I drove past some flats earlier and two of the bottom floor front gardens were having parties. Lidl Juke box thing out the front of one of them.
Bottles of coke and beer on the tables and smoking away. About 10 to 15 people in each garden. Adults and kids. Having their fun.

If you need to see your partner, go and do it. Other people are and I see no consequence. We're not talking full pubs or stadiums here. Go and do what makes you happy. Do it responsibly and don't add more stress to yourself.

Im the same, pressure at work (wfh) is adding up when i have 7 year old literally on me all the time, i start thinking of ways out of this.

I'm also a single parent. I've a 9 year old who is stuck to me like glue at the moment and is being extremely uncooperative and unmanageable, I'm just not able for it. I can't get 5 minutes to myself to even breathe.

I live with my temperamental sister and because she refused to mind my child while I work (essential job), even those she's a public servant off work on full pay. I've had to take the last 5 weeks off. My parents normally child mind for me but obviously that's not an option right now.

I have to go back Monday because otherwise I'd lose my job but my sister hadn't made it easy for me.

Its literally only because I'm a lone parent that I'm still sitting here typing this, in my book there's no life for anyone for the foreseeable future.

No it's not. We were given restrictions to stop the spread of the virus. But some big headed greedy builders had other ideas and couldn't care less about spreading the virus. We cant personally be bankrupt if we are all dead. Wise up.

Must have missed the CMO saying all cases of covid19 end up in death, could have sworn it was 80% are mild, and dying somewhere near 0.5%

The shinners and under 18s are telling us what to do.

But thankfully the vast majority are compliant. Feck the rebels for now.

And some sources say as low as 0.1% fatal.
Back to work in July though

    Nonsense? In your opinion.

Not naive, just realistic and capable of weighing up relative risks in my own mind. I perceive the risks on an open building site as absolutely minuscule, something thats clearly widely agreed upon, considering they are going to be the first to be allowed back (officially).

I'm not willing to hide in my bedroom for another 2 months and I wouldn't dream of snitching on hardworking locals.

You missed the comparison! Would accept him fumbling with a sheet, he’s not telling us to inject detail ffs, coz that might help, he is not perfect but in context he is holding it up.

Of course it’ll be cut- probably “phase 1 or 2”.

    Sigh!!
You are unable to manage you own child and yet you blame that on other people and/or the virus...you should look at your own parenting skills instead.

My sister in law is our childminder so she stays and goes home (I'm on a 3 day week) How people can mind their kids and be productive is mind boggling, it's age dependent but for me they're so young it's impossible.

Very similar setup to ourselves. It is impossible with younger children and I know a few friends who are going to single incomes households because of the strain this is causing. The stress of having to look after the children and try hold down a 9-5 job while both parents WFH is unbelievable.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

No hes not. Hes listening to the gaslighting dr Tony.
There is no government, no objections. The testing and nursing home fiasco is why we wont reopen until August. There is no experts only Simon Harris who has experience with 18 previous corona virus so at least he knows his game
