There are written exercises though. You do 3 role plays and then do a report on them followed by a short retest of IST.

Yeah I know; i was sub 100 on the ML for 1810 was also fast tracked. Learning the competencies will not help. Basically just be a decent human being and be empathetic. Been there done that, got the t shirt and doing the job now.

I can't go into detail about the written exercises due to the NDA i signed. But they aren't what you think they are going by has been said on here of late.

So you work as a psni officer now? I was only pointing out the written part in the assessment centre

How does the actual real job compare to what you thought the job was going to be like when you first applied?

Hi folks, long time lurker. Past the ist a few weeks back and really excited for the rest of the process. Just a question on tattoos, I have two sleeves that can be covered up with a shirt. A few of my friends who are already in said to not worry but just checking if anyone would know from past experiences etc

Definitely nothing political or offensive! I think I was just worrying on size etc and having both arms done. The other thing I was worried about was I have my grandparents surname on me (different surname to mine) so I don't think that would conceal my identity ? Probably just overthinking it!

Cheers, that's a fair amount of time to get sorted. I thought it was going to be a much smaller window. Hopefully by then there will be more direction on lockdown exit plan. Supposedly boris will be giving info on this next week

Wanted to wish each and every one of you every success in this campaign. It will be worth it in the end. Expect bumps on the road. Have the patience of a Saint and youl get there. I speak from experience. Currently appointable and in the 1810 campaign.

Nonsense. The core competencies are very important. Being cop doesn't qualify you to understand the grading criteria.

The candidate should consider attending one of the tutorials offered. The staff there will talk you though the the grading criteria.

Yeah I did the coaching... competencies never expressly mentioned nor studied. You should already have the qualities expressed if you don't well... maybe don't join.

The assessment centre is about practical application of said competencies.

Fairness
Courtesy
Respect
Professionalism

Etc

The only thing the AC is doing is trying to see if you can express these practically. And as they are also the qualities of a decent human being you don't have to sit and learn them

I have to agree with the comments above with NeeNaw21, I have also past the AC, if you have to try and learn the competencies I believe you will struggle, again only my opinion, but take all the support and advice you can get.

Hopefully come sunday there will be a strategy in place for relaxing the lockdown rules and psni start planning for a/c dates. Hopefully they will be started come june 🤞 also, fingers crossed hairdressers are open before a/c lol starting to look a bit messy 😂

How are you preparing for it ? I’ve watched a few videos etc but I’ve too much time on my hands and feel I can’t do much more until lockdown is lifted lol

Is there any indication as to how many applicants have been successful at ist and awaiting Assessment Centre? Considering almost 7000 of us applied,

I worked it out statistically going on a 3 year average, roughly 1600, cant remember exact figure I got but around that will turn up for a/c stage lol a number of people through wont actually turn up to a/c. I was bored and interested to know roughly how many are left aswell 😂 just over 1000 usually get on merit list so do a decent job and you should get through ok. I havent been thinking about it too much, once lockdown is relaxed going to draft up a number of police scenarios and go through them with my partner and get her to play witness/victim etc to practice key questions for painting a picture of the incidents and reporting.

Thanks for that! Sounds promising. I agree numbers will reduce with educational requirements and no-shows also. It's the not knowing what or when it will happen next is keeping me awake ðŸ˜‚. Still statistically those figures and 600 positions available sounds positive

To give you an idea on figures, for the 1810 campaign 2433 got invited to AC with 1550 attending and 1053 passing the AC and making it on to the merit list.

Unfortunately made the mistake of buying his how2become book a year ago so I know what you mean. He’s just replaced any other forces name with psni and fired it out for sale. Crazy how inaccurate it is

the IST is in my opinion, the hardest part. i can safely say at least 4500+ applicants were cut by it this year

if you take that number along with the number that didnt bother actually doing followed by the number that dont turn up to assessment centre, everyones chances are good. My friend in psni said, apply common sense and you will be fine, so many people going in a try to come across as the finished article which isn't what they are looking for. the pass rate for Assessment centre is higher than the IST so you are probably right in what you are saying.
