Well it did in Wuhan/China. So it can happen

Don’t believe anything that comes from China it’s not a normal country.

They can do things we can’t.
They can disappear people they don’t like or don’t suit them.
They can lock down like no other country.
They can hide things and lie like no other country.

Italy is the truth or closer to the truth.

Pubs will not be open on Paddys Day.

A few people have taken a photo of the sign, so that suggests it has something peculiar written on it rather than "We are closed"

Bit of a stretch really. Different countries have different opninions or at different stages of the disease. Doesn't mean cooperation between states is over.
Yeah on data and the effectiveness of measures there is likely to be a full exchange.

What do you think the EU is? Haven't many of us spent almost 4 years patiently explaining the very limited extent of its powers over the internal policies of member states? It's an international arrangement to facilitate economic integration through common minimum standards, not Mammy and Daddy coming to save you.

Only Brexit loons believe it controls health services and police/military deployments.

    Exactly
That is what the EU is.
People just don't want to see this

Why then were Harris and Coveny telling us we cannot shut down our borders due to Eu rules?

This thread is moving at such a pace, impossible to keep up. I heard that we are more than double in terms of days/positive cases dentified compared to where Italy was ? Holy jesus if true.

Deflecting and lying. Public health emergencies over which the EU has no role, trump everything else.

Yeah given the amount of people taking pictures of it, that would make me think theres something in that notice that's not from the pub itself. People wouldn't be taking photos if it just said pub closed.

    Soon see.

The head of the Restaurants Association of Ireland has said he expects an announcement today regarding the closure of pubs and restaurants to stem the spread of Covid-19.

Speaking on RTÉ's Weekend On One, Adrian Cummins said the government needs to trigger a lockdown on their sector, as they want to play their part in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.

He said restaurants are ready for this, there will be a lot of pain for business owners, but it's better to get it out of the way sooner than later. He said many are wondering whether to stay open or not, and wanted to see the Government provide a decision on it.

All the pubs in Newbridge are closing at 6pm today. All sticking it up on their FB page. Delighted. Shows social responsibility over business needs.
