    .

Weather is pretty awful at the moment.

Just very windy here in Ashbourne, about 25 minutes from Navan. No rain yet. Unless theres an absolute deluge overnight it will go ahead

Impressive game from Paul Towey. Nice to see another natural forward with potential pushing through. Unfortunate finish for the lads.

Sounded like it was a cracking contest given the simply awful conditions in Castlebar.

    Hard luck on the lads.

    Meath ladies at 11.45.

Wonder are they worried about both games (for a water logged pitch) or just the effect of having 2 games on their pitch in this weather and just considering moving the ladies?

Been bucketing down here since before 6pm with no let up. If it carries through the night, hopefully they call it early with the 8.30am pitch inspection

Absolutely as I'll be hitting the road early.

It's been pouring all night here in Dublin

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,029 ✭✭✭Call me Al

There seems to be spot flooding in the fields around me here in east Meath. And still raining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,428 ✭✭✭wirelessdude01

Cannot see the game going ahead. I'd imagine it isn't the pitch they are inspecting but the actual place. The facilities are a disgrace. Tiny stand with a grassy bank. Place wouldn't be safe today.

I'm just outside Drogheda and there is also spot flooding on roads and in the fields. Stream behind me is following everywhere except where it should be

We don't want this going ahead today. Not a day for football for either side, and risky for player injuries too.

If the conditions in Meath are anything like here the game should be called off.

Dont leave the house yet imo. Its been a savage night here. I'm the heaviest sleeper in the world and I was woken up twice during the night. Absolutely howling outside and no let up with the rain. I can't see it going ahead, if it does, madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

I am absolutely shocked tbh. That is just stone wall crazy. Met Eireann just upgraded to an Orange warning over the whole country too. Jesus.

GAA don't have much regard for welfare of players and supporters letting games go ahead today. The weather is ridiculous in Dublin. With GAA condensing 7 league games in 9 weeks(worse time of year weather wise)and final a week after round 7 doesn't allow much time for back matches to be played.

Hope we manage to scrape the win and no more injuries but I’m worried

Also just spotted Tom Parsons isn’t on the bench ?

Believe it or not outside of a gust of wind the pitch is holding up very well.

This kind of cowardly attitude is why we haven’t won Sam in generations

How did he miss that, foot block?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Taking frees with the outside of the boot says it all about out free taker situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,272 ✭✭✭✭km79

We need to be around 9 points up at HT
We may not score against that breeze with our shooting

The miss was a HUGE let off
We have been dreadful so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

How is that not a free in, shocking call.

Don't know. Meath have created chances, we'll make some in the second half.

Our half forward line is very small, that could be a problem in the second half. Might have been wise leaving Aidan on the bench untiil half-time if he's not fit for 70 minutes.

    Boland with another good score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Could we be any more laboured. Couple of good score from Boland who is showing well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭Euphoriasean

Jesus christ aidan o shea taking a sideline kick. Absolutely shocking game management from a senior player.

    Absolutely clueless in attack again
    Crazy frees and sidelines
    We are in trouble
Will need a lucky goal or Meath to be equally inept in attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,289 ✭✭✭Padkir

Tactics have been atrocious. Not having a full forward line half the time with a gale behind you... Madness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

Fergal Boland the shining light in the first half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,048 ✭✭✭Bunny Colvin

That looked like a definite footblock from Diarmuid as well, lucky to get away with it.

He got his foot to it before the Meath man, so it couldn't be a block.

Playing alright but no denying the tactical flaws are still plain to see. AOS taking that last sideline sums that up. Lack of goal threat call ncerninh still.

Overall though not too bad and regardless of the wind we should still have too much for Meath this half

Normally players we talk about missing, but I'd swap 3 or 4 of them to have Donnie Buckley back on the line. Our tackling has been shocking all year, especially poor today.

Defence has been cut wide open a few too many times with relatively pedestrian moves. Wind responsible for a lot of the handling errors, but clearly some (major) issues with the strategy there. A few of the forwards tracking back looking at sea.

Disappointing showings from James D and Ryan so far. Though shot selection right throughout the team looking poor which isn't helping.

A lot to work on for the second half (and rest of the year). Kev Mac's carrying might be very important yet. Fingers crossed.

I think if we win it will be a case of Meath having too little. We have scored 7 points with a gale. Similar scoring and decision making last time out.
What exactly was our gameplan first half?

Hard to judge what it is in most league games. So many inexperienced lads out there especially in forwards

    Ah Loftus. Miserable miss that

    Another terrible miss

    Loftus on frees now
    Christ we learn nothing
Looking forward ro Hennelly trotting up to miss the long range ones now too
