Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Neroli Portofino Forte *in hand*
Super clean and super polished, Neroli Portofino is one of the biggest sellers of Tom Ford's Private Blend line. This Forte version is the original's (newer) bigger brother - it's stronger and more concentrated than the original. The scent itself is doubtless similar, but most agree that this version is a bit greener and deeper, and perhaps a bit more seasonally versatile than the original's summer - only pitch. Naturally, it's costlier than the original, at an RRP of €245 for a 50ml bottle.

Vanille Noire & Incense Oud double pack *coming soon*
I previously did a double pack of other fragrances from this house which was well received. Time for more! Both of these are well reviewed.
Incense Oud - looks like a "what it says on the tin" situation!
Vanille Noire - this house do loads of different vanillas, but this looks a bit different to most - vanilla (of course), but given added 'pop' by pink pepper and cloves.

Xerjoff are the masters of citrus, and this is their top of the line in that field, so expect something really good - this juice has near legendary status. Price is 'not cheap', but this actually a cracking deal bearing in mind the RRP of €240 / 50ml (~€280 in the UK!). 30ml portion comes in original new style 50ml bottle and extravagant full presentation packaging.

ESCENTRIC MOLECULES
Molecule 01 *on the way*
Reviews for this are, to put it mildly, wildly differing. Is it a fantastic scent? Does it smell of nothing? Is it actually a practical joke? All depends on your nose it seems! The only active olfactory ingredient in Molecule 01 is Iso E Super. Ya wha?! Iso E Super is used in loads of fragrances as a backing and many well known scents feature cart loads of it (Terre d'Hermes being one example). What it actually smells like seems to be a bit of a mystery though. The most common description is a vague woody / salty / musky smell, but head over to Fragrantica to see it described as smelling like pretty much everything. What does not seems in doubt though is that it essentially acts like a 'booster' for other scents - a bit like salt in cooking, or an adjuvant in a vaccine for the boffins amongst you. So wear it alone and it'll apparently make you smell more like...you. Of particular interest is that a lot of people layer it with other scents to make them 'shimmer', or to extend the drydown. Or maybe it is all a joke - only one way to find out! I can tell you it is VERY popular though.

Tuscan Leather is a very enjoyable fragrance to try to find suitable layering partners - smokey vetivers work for me.0 -
I have some Arabian oud perfumes I picked up in Dubai (not brands... these are essentially pure-Arabian bottles with ott gold decoration etc), so I'll try a spray of one of these with TL before I splash out on a bottle of something else.
But handy to know the Tom Ford priv lines are intended to be blended if using solo doesn't suit.
Maybe I can get a cheaper bottle of Tobacco Vanille off this thread later if I need?

No, not had the pleasure, although I hear it's essentially a completely different fragrance. Out in a couple of weeks. I'll definitely be doing it although when remains to be seen. Going by previous releases I'd expect this will only be released in the smaller bottles first, and flacons (if they do them) later. Splits from a 100ml bottle won't work out cheap at all I'd imagine.....0 -

It's almost here!
Yes, the new 'flanker' to Creed's masculine titan Aventus is almost upon us - release date is June 1st. This is apparently a fresher, more modern take on the original. Here's what Creed have to say:

As you can imagine, particularly given this is Creed's first masculine flanker, the hype is strong with this one. Does anyone doubt it'll be anything other than very good? The very few apparently genuine reviews I've seen indicate it's a good 'un. I think the name sucks TBH, especially as 'cologne' is used ubiquitously as a term for male fragrances in the US. Note this is still a full Eau de Parfum strength.
So, Padraig - are you getting some of this juicy goodness for the square jawed men of tGC? Of course I am! I have a couple of 100ml bottles pre-ordered directly with Creed for delivery ASAP after the release date. Naturally this means paying through the nose (plus, they charged me twice!) so price is a little saucy but that's to be expected with a new release hot item. I do expect / hope to be able to get 100ml bottles for less down the line (could be a few weeks, could be a few months - I don't know) and, if larger volume flacons become available (not guaranteed), prices will be cheaper again but if / when that comes to pass is crystal ball territory.
So, if you want to get your hands on 'the new Aventus' before anyone else and get 'first ever batch' bragging rights, break out that wallet! 10ml price is significantly cheaper than the only other split (UK) of it I'm aware of BTW.
