God forgive me for saying it but you'd nearly miss Hector in the morning.

No, I would never miss him in the morning. He is an absolute pillock, rahoo rahoo rahoo. I've never understood his popularity.

    Delighted it's been scrapped.

At work we have a group Skype chat in the mornings to discuss how bad its gotten. We started early enough during Jen's maternity leave.. mainly to give out about Keith and Lottie.

Recently I would only tune in one or two mornings a week for about an hour.

Not sure how McDermott will gel with Doireann Garrihy.. don't know much about her so I presume she has some appeal?!

The word legend is thrown around too easy theses days..What makes a person a legend?

You can ask anyone in the radio industry. Andy Mac guarantees you listeners. Who the f__k are you to say he is not a legend. He is all of the below and MORE.

    Lively
    Entertaining
    Great music knowledge
    Easy on the ear
    Never off topic
    Dedicated

She's not great on radio but they know each other from here as road watch days. It'll be dull.

Do none of the workers have access to the radio to change station?

For 3 hours a day for over 15 or so years, he's played the same music again and again - no thanks to beats playlist. He has no control of any songs outside of that playlist. Unsure if he's entertaining - he says the same amount of words than a DJ in a nightclub. Here's the 6 in the mix, here's the news, here's the traffic, repeat on loop.
Dedicated?? In what way? He's been lucky to have stayed in the job for this long in what is supposed to be a youth station.

15 years. One station. Theres dedication for you....

You can be sure he had offers from your big stations like RTE / Today FM / BBC but he chose to stay local. If you want to be entertained switch to WLRFM on the lunchtime show where hes filling in doing the lunchtime show.

Yes and BEAT is long dead now because of Niall Power and his utterly boring and repetitive breakfast show garbage plus he has total control over what songs are played so he usually plays the same 3 or 4 songs every hour on the hour until you don't even know other songs exist!

Back in the day with Mary O Neill, the breakfast show used to be quite funny when they were in their 20s and the issues were relevant. Now Mary has moved on to better things in WLRFM whilst Niall and Vinnie are still acting like giddy teenagers when they are both middle aged men, they are to be pitied at this stage.

It's probably 2006 since I last heard that station, can't believe the six in the mix still exists

If you read the post again, you will see I didnt say the presenter wasnt a legend..I asked what makes a person a legend..I didnt mention the name of the presenter at all.If you werent in such a hurry to defend your favourite presenter, you would have seen that.So maybe in future before you ask a person who the f**k they are to have an opinion, you understand the post you are answering!Thats all...

Do you realise how boring the kind of office environments that have Skype usually are?

Every station has a strapline. 6 in the mix has been around as long as any of the others!

Niall Power and the gang are awful. Absolute trash. They seem to be unmoveable from the breakfast slot.

I used enjoy bernard Keith and jen in the morning before going back to beat for the drive time show. When Lottie came on board it just went downhill fast.

The thoughts of Eoin MacDermott and his "I love you bye" at the end of each call when sitting in traffic on a Tuesday morning just doesn't sound appealing to me.

So does this mean Breakfast Republic is now finished? Who will be in on Tuesday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭castle2012

Just listening in. Last day today. There doing Friday stuff. Have to say it is not the same with the other 2 gone. It's prob for the best they axe it. But the trouble is there is worse to come now in the mornings. I can't stand eoghan mc dermot. He just loves talking about himself. I definitely will be re-tuning the radio

Aifric and Carl Mullan were presenting Friday's show, and will probably continue until Eoghan takes over.
