Is there any reason why Lottie was the lead presenter for the odd morning? Especially with Keith there.

it's only the days when one is missing Bernard today and yesterday. I switch as soon as I hear that jumped up Ryan one

have they made any announcement on where Bernard is?

Jennifer was talking about her new show, trying to be funny. She jokingly said she'd have a phone in slot called the "Jen Line", and if Lottie rang in, she could emphasise about dead dads!!!

I mean seriously, this whole crew need to be fired, and a complete revamp of 2fm is needed.

Heard that conversation, absolutely bizarre radio. Keith then was talking to Lottie about some festival in the Philippines where they dig up their dead and bring them to the festival.

Heard that yesterday myself because Dancer for cancer was on Today FM, thought it was a really inappropriate, disrespectful way of marking the 10 year anniversary of the death of someone's father.

Ah would you not all think that they do have pre-production meetings and would have discussed this with Lottie before hand - this was hardly improvised and thrown at her unrehearsed?
Sure are they trying to go down the route of shock jock radio, like Gerry did

Now whether it was in good taste or not, well that's a different kettle of fish

Lottie was fine with it by the sounds of it, I'd highly doubt they blind sided her.

It probably is something Gerry would laugh at, I still found it a bit weird.

I think (and i wouldnt be one to defend Jen at all) but there was a bit of a conversation and joke about Gerry Ryan yesterday and i think was a continuation of that conversation.

I only ever listen for Smarty Pants...me and the kids listen to it on the way to school. So i wouldnt be an authority on the show...but sometimes i get the vibe that Lottie cant stand Jen and her jokes? Would that be right?

I really dont like Lottie though. A few weeks ago Keith got a bit mad about some of the comments relating to her appearance. Fair enough i suppose. But she is not good at banter and just cannot run with a conversation or joke. Is it going to be just Keith and Lottie from now on i wonder?

Where did I say it was improvised and thrown at her?
Even if it was discussed beforehand, it's still in very bad taste and is just typical of the gutter type content of 2fm these days.

No need for the patronising eye roll either.

He did an interview with TV Now back in March, said he was taking some time off when his new baby came along. Did say he will prob return mid April, but we're in May now...

Lottie was the one that started the whole thing as far as I can remember, she even called it Dead Dad Day and was laughing, she didn’t seem to have a problem with what Jen & Keith said afterward.

Very rarely ever put on this dross. Any time I do Jennifer the liar is making 'jokes' about sex. Top class bantz at 8ish in the morning when we've young kids all over the country going to school. Or else it's let's talk about some inane RTÉ production Bernard is making.

Don't quite find Lottie as irritating as the rest. Still can't understand why it takes 4 of them to run one show.

Normally I just listen to R na G or I don't bother at all. My Gaeilge isn't great but at least the music is ok.

    Didn't take long!!

RTE bosses have announced they are axing 2FM Breakfast Republic in a major shake-up at the station.
Online personality Doireann Garrihy and presenter Eoghan McDermott will be taking over the slot in an attempt to attract a younger audience.

Meanwhile Jenny Greene will also make her return to the station in a new drivetime slot.

I don't listen to Mc Dermott, can't stand him, but at least it will be something different in the morning.

Absolutely delighted Jenny Greene has got her own weekday show, can't wait for her to return.

The only people I feel sorry for is anyone who remotely has an interest in becoming a radio DJ as a career working their way up on small stations and dj’ing at night time to make ends meet only to have 2fm and todayFM give up prime time slots to hack Instagram scammers on the hope they get a quick increase in listenership from all of the Instagram huns.

It’s actually a sad state of affairs. Healy hasn’t a clue. 6am to 3pm now completely avoidable.

I would rather guide my father in to my mother than listen to that sanctimonious dickhead McDermott at that time in the morning.

As Bernard departs Breakfast Republic, his fellow co-presenter Keith Walsh is remaining at 2FM but moving to weekends while Lottie Ryan, who has been filling the seat vacated by Jennifer Zamparelli on the show will return to her role as entertainment reporter.

"Lottie was really unlucky here, that's the truth of it," says Healy. "She really was in a great position to get the breakfast show but when it became clear Doireann was a possibility for us then we decided to go with a whole new breakfast show.

"Unfortunately we had to make that change, but Lottie is having a great career. Nobody works harder in this organisation than Lottie Ryan. There are great things coming for Lottie but I feel really sorry for her. I'm sure she feels this one passed her by but when you work like Lottie Ryan works nothing passes you by."

Nothing passes you by....except the 2fm breakfast slot :D

I would have flipped my lid if Lottie was kept on and Keith was moved. Wouldnt even have tolerated Smarty Pants in that scenario.

I suppose all hope of Joe and Keith being reunited is gone now.

Wasnt the whole point behind Breakfast republic to bring in younger listeners? Guess that failed..unless those listeners are too old 5 years later.

Great. As bad as this show is it was OK background noise for half an hour until Pat Kenny came on. I absolutely refuse to listen to Eoghan McDermott and his agenda driven drivel. Why RTE continue to promote him is mind boggling.

This while thing of attracting younger viewers also confuses me. I honestly don't know a single person under the age of 30 that listens to the radio aside from kids in the car with their parents.

God forgive me for saying it but you'd nearly miss Hector in the morning.

That might have been a bit harsh actually in hindsight

A holy disgrace. Beat 102 103 legend Andy Mac could have been snapped up for the breakfast show but hes doing the lunchtime show on WLR FM.

The word legend is thrown around too easy theses days..What makes a person a legend?

As I stated before RnaG these days and my local radio station are all I bother with really.

That said, I work away from home by week and thus face a long drive home Friday nights and I normally listen to Today Fm Friday nights.

I find Louise Duffy annoying (nowhere near as bad as the Breakfast crew spoken about here) but her music is usually top bar.

Phil Cauley comes on after and I find him to be probably the most underrated radio presenter in the country. Comes across as a decent guy, no hidden sh1tlib agenda like mcdermott and Jennifer, pleasant to listen to and decent music too. Mostly.
