"many people were saying could possibly be the best welterweight of all time".

No Joe, you said that, most people said GSP is by far and away the best WW of all time.

Usman won’t sell many PPV’s but he’ll be tough to beat unless you can knock him out. His wrestling will be tough for anyone.

Delighted for Usman there seems a class act post fight.

Very different than his act from the last 12 months in fairness.

Jasus rumble is looking chunkier than a snickers

I wonder if Woodley would have beat 30% Usman

He's just on a (very) durty bulk.

Looking through the rankings and don’t see anyone that could beat Usman right now. Possibly Wonderboy on his absolute best day, but not likely.

Only welterweight I’d give any real chance against his after that is Rory, and we might never see that fight.

EDIT: Forgot about Askren as he isn’t in the rankings as of now. He’d definitely present a real challenge.

Fairplay to Usman for giving Tyron his due and calling out fickle fans. Not a lot of people would do that fresh off a title win. Looks like Marty from Nebraska might be getting Askren or Covington next and judging by that performance, I think he demolishes both.

I usually hate those kind of fights but that was interesting to watch. Also what the hell was Goddard doing? Telling Usman it's a fight? I'm pretty sure he knew that considering he's the professional fighter....insane decisions by Goddard, especially in standing them up when Usman was hammering decent body shots on Woodley.

Usman was trying to get at Colby after the fight .

Marty from Nebraska is class he should embrace it :pac:

Woodley was always gonna beat Maia, Wonderboy was close
Robbie was an ideal match up as was till
    Tonight was his biggest test

Jesus I love smith Anthony Smith.
I think his humility, his backstory and his sincerity are super inspiring, but I cannot see anything other than an easy win for Johnny "Picrogram" Jones.

Wasn't there talk a year or so ago of mcgregor going up to WW, Imagine usman getting hold of him, he'd be mauled :pac::pac:

There isn't a top 10 at WW who wouldn't maul Conor.

Never mind Mcgregor, Gunnar would be mauled and Gunner would maul Mcgregor at WW :pac:

It actually works out well for Askren. He wouldn't fight Tyron, but this gives him a chance at a title.

I've long thought Usman was the man in that div that has the
best chance against woodley and think he might just win it on pts by doing
that little bit more over five.

All I'm seeing is five rounds of both standing and think usman may do enough
to get a points win, whether he can take that right hand I don't know though but I think he can go harder for five than woodley.

I can't see it being entertaining but if it's even going into the fifth that won't be so bad.
That first round will be 5 mins of caution imo

Cody and Woodley getting found out tonight. Cody has a glass chin and no defense. I’ve seen better fighters outside Supermacs. Woodley is a good wrestler with bad take down defense and only a big left hand

  • Registered Users Posts: 654 ✭✭✭Gonad

Must be scary having to fight Jones :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Lads, imagine Smith wins this. Just imagine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,733 ✭✭✭ASOT

    10e on Smith R1 for interest, 28/1.

He seems like a top fella, especially in all the build up.

Nobody is "getting found out" at this level.
People get beaten, but this is the literal apex of combat sport, there is no "found out".

Edit: Everyone here will know I'm no fan of Conor, but I sad the exact same thing when Khabib beat him.

"there is a decided mean streak to this individual"

    No, he's a scumbag.
