Probably looking at needing 9 points from Treviso at home and zebre at away, which will be very very hard

Zebre is a 5 pointer for the taking. A competent performance will get 5 points.

Any sort of win v Benetton will do

It's Connacht vs Cardiff now for third. Cheetahs have too many tough away fixtures coming up and will be out. I expect Connacht to beat Ospreys at home next weekend and that will put them out.

Benetton coming to Connacht is going be an interesting one. They are absolutely flying at the moment.

Might be terrible to suggest it but would losing to sale be a better situation? Giving an extra weeks rest before Cardiff game

No because a win puts us two games from a trophy and another opportunity of qualifying for champions cup

FFS saw 17-0 early in the second half and didn’t even check again. That’s annoying, need to win the next four games now and not have to travel to Thomond needing anything.

Zebre away will be so so so tricky.
If we past that Cardiff home is a Final
If we fail, Munster away will be the upset we'll need

Not that Zebre will be very easy but ultimately if we were told at start of season that would need a win in that for playoffs would be very very happy. Can’t beat Zebre have no business in the European cup.

One thing needed is that carty gets released to play next weekend against Ospreys

If Carbery is still injured, it's hard to see Carty being released.

But the Ospreys are just so awful at the moment, it won't matter. Connacht will hammer them.

    Connacht 42| Ospreys 39| Cardiff 42

    Connacht 59
    Cardiff 56
    Ospreys 52

Gave Cardiff the win against Ospreys for our worst case in that match

Simple enough from here for us.
Win every game before the last round!

Cardiff v Ospreys is in Cardiff (principality stadium)

Can see Cardiff winning that with TBP

We've to study the european play-off 4th places again
Scarlets/Ulster have an easy run-in so 4th spot in the other conference will be between Treviso and Edinburgh

    Connacht | Ospreys | Cardiff | Edinburgh | Treviso
    Ospreys (H)4| Connacht (A)0|Kings (H)5 | Treviso (A) 1 | Edinburgh (H) 4
    Treviso (H)5| Dragons (H)5|Scarlets (H)5 | Leinster (H) 4 | Connacht (A) 1
    Zebre (A)1| Cheetahs (A)1|Munster (A)0 | Scarlets (A) 1 | Leinster (A) 0
    Cardiff (H)4| Kings (A)5|Connacht (A)0 | Ulster (H) 5 | Munster (H) 4
    Munster (A)0| Cardiff (A)1|Ospreys (H)5 | Glasgow (A) 1 | Zebre (A) 4

    Pessimistic total

    Treviso 59
    Cardiff 57
    Connacht 56
    Edinburgh 54
    Ospreys 51

Connacht away European play-off (in Treviso, which still be winnable!)

Neutral scenario (Just 1 change, Munster winning in Treviso)

Connacht home European play-off (think we'll overcome Treviso 15-points-goal-average deficit, thanks to Leinster)

Optimistic scenario (Cardiff failling to get a BP vs Scarlets or Ospreys, or Connacht winning in Zebre)

Direct Euro qualification, Pro 14 play-off

Caolin Blade apparently with the Ireland team today, must have headed over after the Glasgow match.

Cheetahs lost without a bonus point. They’ll find it hard to compete for play off

No European play off this season. 4th placed side in either conference with most match points will qualify automatically. Also wouldn't bank too much on Treviso losing in Galway. They've been looking mighty impressive recently and will have their Italian internationals back by then.

There’s still a play off, I had thought there wasn’t either but there is as it turns out. Treviso be tricky alright but it is the week immediately after the 6N so would think they will be missing a few at least. Connacht will probably only be missing whoever starts in Cardiff the week before so potentially only Aki.

3.2.7 The seven Clubs that qualify to participate in the 2018/19 EPCR Champions Cup will be made up of the following:

The three highest ranked European Clubs in each conference at the end of the League Stage (South African Clubs ineligible)

The winner of a single play-off Match between the next highest ranked European Club in Conference A and the next highest ranked European Club in Conference B.

The single play-off Match will be played at the home venue of the European Club that (as between the two participating Clubs) has the most League Points at the end of the League Stage. If level on points the normal deciding criteria will apply: Points Difference, Tries Scored, Try Difference, etc

Are subs not usually rested the week after too? If they are marmion, dillane and possibly carty depends on carberys injury could all be missing

I don’t think there’s a hard and fast rule for subs. As far as I recall last year Marmion wasn’t available for Connacht but Jordi Murphy played for Leinster. Given there probably won’t be any celebrations this year, would hope Connacht subs will be made available.

Huge game at the weekend, if Connacht have a new signing or contract extensions done, I’d be announcing them all week. Need the place to be buzzing on Saturday and the last few games haven’t had too much positivity to them

Cannon carded despite the score, hopefully that happens across the league from now on.

Edit: and Whitehouse doesn't know what the time on the clock is.... Tries to blow for half time at 39 mins

Just to come back to this..... was watching back the 'highlights' of the Ireland match, and for Murray's try, you can hear the ref saying to an Italian "you're very lucky they scored" as he had signalled for a penalty advantage - so you'd imagine he was going in the bin if we hadn't scored. So even in an International test, the ref applied discretion in a similar scenario.....

City council have requested further information on the planning application for the Sportsground, which sets the decision date back at least another 8 weeks I believe. Someone with better knowledge of the planning system may be able to correct me on that.

Going by the usual planning laws, Connacht have six months to reply to the FI request and then the decision is made within eight weeks of that being submitted. So an even longer wait I’m afraid.

Would hope they would submit the FI a lot sooner than that tbh. Main stumbling blocks appear to be the floodlighting (couple of residents objections about that) and the size of the training building looming over the cemetery.

He might not be playing against France anyway with Ringrose and Henshaw back.

Depends how everyone is going in training, how he recovers from his HIA, etc. Up to Robbie to take the jersey off him...

I totally agree. It's not Henshaw's just to walk back into it. I just think it's quite likely Aki gets released to play for Connacht anyway, for multiple reasons. Connacht need him and Ireland don't, not as much anyway.

JvG is quoted on RTÉ saying Carberry maybe a doubt for the rest of the 6N. I guess that probably means we won’t see Jack this weekend, unfortunately
